  1. I don't think this law suit, if it goes through is going to lead to the demise of college football, and college sports in general. You can't stop ESPN from showing games which involve college athletics. The jerseys that are sold bear the trademark/(whatever the thing is called that gives the royalties to the university) of the university and therefore can't be given to the players. Also, isn't it illegal for college players to accept benefits (thus making them professionals)? So they must have signed away their rights to sue in the case of EA Sports or 2k sports being able to use their likenesses in video games. I see this case going no where. IS IT THE SPRING GAME YET?
  2. I think it's a great example of overcoming adversity, but being an NU student, I would've probably liked to have heard a more neutral example.
  3. You're failing to realize just how hard it is to find a coach that has the wow factor. I think most of these hires (if they come to reality) will be overall good for the program. We're not going to be able to hire a Malzahn or any other big name coaches for that same reason: they got their name for making their current program successful, why would they want to leave? The only disappointing thing to me was that we didn't want to give Frost playcalling duties. and for that i am glad......2 years as a WR coach is nothing. It isn't a whole lot of experience, and maybe different people at Oregon deserve more credit than Frost for their success on the field the last two years. I think when most people see Frost's name, they remember how good of a player he was...now that's good and all, but that doesn't mean he is a great playcaller. I would've loved to have him as the WR coach, but he didn't want to make a lateral move, even if it were to move back to his home, Nebraska
  4. Paul Rhoads is doing wonders for that ISU program...I mean, they almost beat us two years in a row. Well, we almost beat ourselves two years in a row. He seems like a great guy who is still very proud at what his team, a team that he cares very dearly about, did to a common powerhouse program in Nebraska; they went in and (I don't care how sloppily we played) and beat us. Not knowing that there were NU students watching as well; that is hilarious to me. Do you think maybe he would've selected a different topic if he knew NU students were also listening in?

  6. I think this writer is missing out on some of the information and he is clearly showing a bias in his article, which, if it's an opinion article is perfectly fine by me. Sanders was released on reasons unbeknownst to us. Nebraska wouldn't fire their secondary coach after putting up the best secondary last year, would they? Charles Jackson understood the situation and is now 100% committed to Nebraska. And while I like the whole "everyone thinks we're an angel program that always shoots straight," everyone needs to come to the truth that is: not one single program is a straight shooter, the programs that are assumed to be just haven't been exposed. Now I'm not saying Bo did everything right, but the Sanders situation, I think, was something beyond his control. He'll make a bad move (PR wise) should he decide to fire Watson and Gilmore right after they did the recruiting.
  7. I think Bubba is being straight up honest with everyone by saying he doesn't know what he wants to do yet. He can always play baseball for the University of Nebraska as well. If he takes the money and goes to the MLB, more power to him. If he decides to committ and play for the Huskers, more power to him. Right now, he's experiencing a plus-plus conflict: Nebraska is on one side, baseball and money on the other, both of them are great options, but which does he not want to disappoint? We'll find out in August (or whenever the draft is held)
  8. Great stat: 28% 2nd half shooting
  9. I'm going to go ahead and say you're talking about Jorge Brian Diaz...pretty much the worst player on our team
  10. Well this game was fun while it lasted...
  11. Doc should do the right thing and just cut Diaz from the team, the guy can't do a thing right
  12. I have no doubt in my mind that the starter next year will be Taylor Martinez. He proved that, without injury, he is very much a dual threat QB. He can run and he can throw. His inexperience as a freshman is one reason for all those stupid, boneheaded mistakes that he made, and I hope that with a year under his belt in playing in (and struggling in some) big games (Texas, Okie State, Missouri, aTm, Oklahoma) he will become a better leader and player as a QB. And of course when you're only allowed to run a certain amount of plays (i.e. Zone Read), you're not going to have much success in your first year.
  13. I am all for a name change...and I think some of the aforementioned division names sound pretty good. I am glad that Delaney is actually listening to the fan bases. That's something that I don't think would happen in the Big XII unless Texas disapproved of the proposition as well
  14. To me this season seems like a disappointment because we didn't do anything that the team set out to do at the beginning of the year: That being Beat Texas and Win the Big XII. 0 for 2 on those. Plus people, like myself were hoping to see an explosive offense and we did early when we played Washington and Kansas State, completely lost it against SDSt and Texas, got it back vs Okie State and Mizzou, and then watched it fizzle out for the rest of the year.
  15. Here's a true rumor: I've heard that Bo Pelini hates the media...I wonder why...
  16. We'd have to renovate the OC box. Make it abnormally wider than the others. "Why is that window especially wider?" "Mark Mangino is in there" "Oh" But back on topic. The Nevada OC would probably be the best bet IF Shawn Watson were to go. There's a lot of talent leaving that Nevada program if my memory serves me correctly and I'm not sure that the Nevada OC would be wanting to stay. Plus he runs an offense that most of our fans like to see, a running based offense. Mike Leach is head coaching material and I don't think he would settle for an OC position at any school, even if it is Nebraska.
  17. Mike Leach? I know he's more about passing but...worth a shot?
  18. I personally see us being contenders in the Big Ten next year. @ Wisconsin is obviously going to be a balanced team next year. I don't think they will be as good without Scott Tolzien though. But with John Clay and Company, Wisconsin will resemble offensively what Nebraska did this year: a very strong running team with an iffy passing game. This game will be close and could be decided by which defense steps up and stops the running game. Way too Early Prediction: Nebraska 24 Wisconsin 17 OT vs. Ohio State If both teams are undefeated heading into this game at Lincoln, bet on College GameDay showing up for this game. Ohio State will be a scary team offensively next year with Terrelle Pryor and Dan Herron making a return to THE Ohio State University. Ohio State's defense will undergo minor changes as they do lose some key players on the D-Line and in the secondary. If Nebraska can, with great linebacker play, prevent Pryor from scrambling and if the D-Line can get pressure on Pryor, he will make mistakes in the passing game. Our offense will have to step up and convert off these turnovers because this will be what decides this game. Way too Early Prediction: Ohio State 23 Nebraska 17 @ Minnesota: Bo Pelini will show just how silly Cosgrove's defense was when he was at Nebraska. And Nebraska's potentially inept, potentially explosive offense will put a load of points on the board at TFC Bank Stadium. Way too Early Prediction: Nebraska 45 Minnesota 10 vs Michigan State Michigan State will have to find players to step up to fill the big shoes that will be left in Sparty land after this year. If they do, then look for Michigan State to make this game close. If they don't, Nebraska shuts down Michigan State offensively and will score enough points to win the football game. Way too Early Prediction: Nebraska 27 Michigan State 17 vs Northwestern: Northwestern is a sleeper team for next year. They don't lose a whole lot of players and will be a very experienced group. If there is an upset of Nebraska next year, look for it to come in this game against the Wildcats. Way too Early Prediciton: Nebraska 28 Northwestern 24 @ Penn State: Talk about an experienced team next year. Penn State, like Northwestern, doesn't lose a whole lot of starters. There offensive line will take some hits, but other than that their offense will be back, minus Evan Royster. This game will be close, but I'll give the advantage to a rocking Happy Valley in this one. Way too Early Prediction: Penn State 24 Nebraska 20 @ Michigan So long as they keep Greg Robinson at defensive coordinator, Michigan isn't getting any better defensively and when they run up against a Nebraska defense who will have, perhaps the best linebacking core in the nation with a great defensive line and a pretty good secondary (because, come on, we lose a lot of stars, but there are people back there to fill their shoes), their explosive offense will be shut down for the most part. Way too Early Prediction: Nebraska 34 Michigan 20 vs Iowa: Let Farmageddon BEGIN! I think Nebraska takes the first one in this Thanksgiving series. Iowa won't be as strong on offense as they were this year, and you saw what happened to them (7-5). I think our defense shuts them down and Nebraska wins by scoring just enough to win. Way too Early Prediction: Nebraska 21 Iowa 13 Barring we don't lose any OOC games Final Record: 10-2 (6-2) Meet Ohio State in the first Big Ten Championship Game. Looking at a possible Rose Bowl berth next year. At least that is my expectations. Think of them what you will
  19. UW-0 Nebraska-84 We're going to one up Wisconsin. Rushing-400 Passing-300
  20. Looks like Miami is really reaching with their candidates, what do they think, their history is going to get Bo Pelini...HAHAHA. Bo is better where he is.
  21. If you look above at my first post, I am by no means against what you're saying. I understand he's a freshman and in that post I was giving an example of his being a freshman showing in games that matter.
  22. The only big game TM looked composed in was the Oklahoma State game, and the beginning of the Missouri game. Other than that he hasn't looked well in any big game (See Texas)
  23. You fail to realize that Martinez didn't see the field at all and had no idea what it was actually like when it mattered. That makes a BIG difference. Cody Green had his issues when he started in the Oklahoma game but as a result, he learned from his mistakes and bad games, and made himself into a better QB this year. Hopefully he starts next year. I think he will be way better than Martinez.
  24. Exactly what Dan Beebe wanted! In his box he was going, "Good. Good. Nebraska is screwing themselves!"
