  1. Ran across this article and thought y'all might enjoy it, sounds like a good guy: Count me as a big fan of Lions' Ndamukong Suh
  2. Okay, but you made it sound like the UT fans were just as much to blame for "pushing past the Corp" and then they "got into it". That is not what happened. What happened was a bunch, not a few, a lot of Corps guys lost their heads and handed out multiple several-on-one beatings, not a couple of one-on-one fist fights where both parties were willing participants. Just so we're all clear, here. I'm not excusing the Corps actions because you can't, but I'm also not quoting a letter to a paper 9 years ago that was written 6 years after an incident; I was actually there watching it. The Corps actions were inexcusable, but I can also tell you some firsthand stories of UT students from that evening who weren't exactly angelic. It was embarrassing in any case and certainly an incident I wish hadn't happened. The Corps member from the 1981 photo, btw, was kicked out of the Corps and suspended for a semester.
  3. Are you f'ing kidding me, bro? "Some Corps members and fans got into it"??? Your own school newspaper saw it a little differently: From The Battalion Sorry, would you like written documentation of each individual interaction between Corps members and fans? It was embarrassing and, as I stated, "not a proud incident".
  4. I was actually at the UT v A&M game in '95 if you'd like more detail on what happened. Kyle Field is referred to a memorial field and traditionally people stay off the field after the game. It's never really been anything that was enforced, members of the Corps of Cadets did "guard" the field after the game but never did anything, it was a purely ceremonial thing. People just stayed off the field after the game as that was what you did. In 1995 we hadn't lost a game on Kyle Field in the last 4 seasons. The Corps was lined up around the edge of Kyle like they always were as the game ended, and a couple random UT students burst past them onto the field. More people started coming out of the stands and pushing past the Corps members to get onto the field and some of the Corps members and fans got into it. Not a proud incident but something that happened in the heat of the moment, a surreal experience to say the least.
  5. I'm betting some of us haven't commented because there's really not much to say. I'm embarrassed by it and wish he'd been flagged, unfortunately it wasn't seen. Not really anything else to add. To me a suspension seems probably a bit harsh, it sounds like it was handled internally. Knowing how Sherman is I sure wouldn't want to be that guy.
  6. Quite frequently judging from a photo that looks to have been taken in the early 80s...
  7. Except for two weeks before? In any case, as several have mentioned there were several thousand students sitting on the sidelines, they jumped up and they were pretty much already on the field. The lower deck of stands was still full, we didn't have people pouring out of the stands onto the field.
  8. Uh, there's definitely a cord running in the video. When Bradon Jones' camera is looking toward the crowd celebrating, you can see it running from the mass of people (to a camera in amongst everyone, probably an ABC camera that followed the Nebraska team to the middle of the field and stayed there in the celebration, you can see big cameras being held overhead in the crowd if you look closely in the slowmo video, the cord probably runs to one of those) and running toward the camera off to Jones' right. Reed #25 steps over, (actually on it to make sure it doesnt jerk up again and trip him) this cord. When the camera turns toward Pelini you can see another cord (or the same one) running from the camera's left and back behind Pelini along the Nebraska sideline. There is also another cameraman with a big video camera on his shoulder a few feet away (to the left of Pelini on the screen when the camera turns toward him) but I think this is another cordless video camera and not related to the cords along the ground. Sorry, you're right. There's a shadow from the cord which is what I was seeing but the actual cord is only a bit above that. And you are correct that the TexAgs camera is just a handheld, they were just shooting web video. Only reason to have a corded camera out there is for a live television feed.
  9. Actually I believe the "cord" is the shadow from the ABC/ESPN camera wires running above the field.
  10. Wouldn't they go by overall record before bcs ranking? As it's a conference championship the games played outside the conference don't factor in directly. So no, a team's overall record doesn't have any effect (other than the obvious effect it would have on poll and BCS ranking).
  11. Thanks. Does the fact that A&M has one more (non-conference) loss than either OU or Okie State not factor in? If you're explanation is right, then I can't possibly see A&M playing into the CCG. If OU manages to tip Okie State, they are going to get a huge boost. A&M's victory over Texas would have to be insanely impressive to even come close. Why did you have to lose to Arkansas, Aggies!?!?! The way I understand it the records compared in tiebreaker #1 are referring to record within the Big 12, if OSU were to lose all three teams would sit at 5-3. The Arkansas loss doesn't hurt us there but it does when it comes to BCS standings. Had we won that game we'd have a real shot if OU wins, as things stand I think it's a pretty slim chance. The only way I can see it happening is for OU v OSU to be a sloppy unimpressive win for OU, for A&M to absolutely light up Texas, and for a few teams between OU and A&M in the BCS to drop games this week. I wonder the same thing about the Arkie game, that's one that was definitely within our grasp and we couldn't put away. This team is really only two or three plays away from being 11-1. I'd still love to blow out Texas
  12. The tiebreaker gets long and complicated looking at division record and head to head games (which just confuses things even more as if OU wins each team will have beaten another). What it will come down to is BCS ranking. If OU beats OSU and A&M beats Texas and is within one BCS spot of OU then A&M will win the tiebreaker (based on BCS ranking and then head to head). It would seem unlikely, however, for the Ags to jump up enough in the BCS to make that happen unless we see some surprising results from teams ranked above them this weekend.
  13. I thought the '06 call was a bit weak, more of a "running into the kicker" sort of hit, but he did hit him late. It wasn't a malicious hit, but it was a boneheaded mistake by the player, not the official. Not arguing the call. And that (it being the same ref) is quite fascinating.

  15. There's one (or a few) in every crowd. Glad you guys enjoyed the trip otherwise though.
