  1. Meh it's just a hearing. They can't vote on anything unless Gov. Perry calls a special session. Rep. Branch, who called the meeting, wants to make sure this move is in the best interest of the state of Texas. Beebe and Dodds have both said that the Big 12 can continue with 9 and last summer, there was political pressure to add U of Houston - 26 State Reps sent letters to Beebe and Perry. UH *is* the third largest university in Texas and they want some AQ action. A&M to SEC, UH to Big 12 = all the major Texas schools will have an AQ conference home. Texas will have four public institutions in AQ conferences instead of three. That's definitely good for the state of Texas. In any event, nobody's going to take money away from 125K students (A&M system-wide) in the midst of a recession right before elections over a football conference, especially if everyone lands ok (which they will).
  2. FREEEEEEEEE!!!!! So happy to be leaving this stupid conference and Dan Beebe! Yes, the A&M BOR pushed the meeting up to 3 PM on Monday. Line item #15 on the agenda: "15. Authorization for the President to Take All Actions Relating to Texas A&M University¿s Athletic Conference Alignment, The Texas A&M University System " My link I think if we didn't leave, there'd be mutiny of the fans (everyone wanted to go last summer). Anyways, been a while since I posted on this board. I'll be seeing y'all in a few months - I'm married to a Michigan grad and we just got our season tickets. Y'all always were the best Big 12 fanbase so glad I still get to run into you!
  3. The majority were objective things like false starts and delay of game - we only had one holding call. Same as NU and OU. Only had two for Baylor.
  4. Thanks. But excuse me if I’m skeptical. We’ve had several TAMU fans come on this board with a reasonable post or two before they go full blown trolling. I know of at least two posters you are referring to, and that's unfortunate. Overall, despite your "meltdown" (which is about a tenth as bad as I've seen on other teams' sites), you guy have mostly maintained your Husker spirit. I was surprised by the very rational calls by several posters to direct anger at the refs and not Aggie fans in general. I'm not so sure we'd see the same from TexAgs, or any other sports board. As we Ags would say, that's good bull.
  5. Hope you guys remember the nice fans that posted all week and not the stupid trolls that showed up to gloat! I'm not happy with the way the game went and if things were reversed, I'd be plenty pissed too. I enjoyed chatting with everyone over the past week and getting hyped for the game with y'all. Wish we'd gotten a better game out of all that excitement! I'll see you in the Big Ten (I live in Chicago and marrying into a Michigan family). Think you'll like it much better over here. Good luck in the B12 championship. Take it all out on Beebe there!
  6. Yeah that's what I was thinking! They're trying to steal our underdog status!
  7. He definitely is, but they got that from us. ;p I watched the YouTube of your tunnel walk (pretty cool btw!) and I noticed that familiar yell from the Huskers crowd. Honestly, Suh has reinvigorated the Lions faithful like they haven't been in a long time. Yes, they lose a lot of games but mostly because they have crappy breaks. They don't often lose by much (did y'all see that Calvin Johnson TD? GRRrrr) and their QB seems to be made of glass or something because he keeps getting injured. The Lions fans were getting beaten, getting tired and then along comes SUUUUH. He can do no wrong. Even when he nearly ripped off Delhomme's head and drew that penalty, it was just like "Oh that's Suh. Plays with so much passion!" He's their silver lining. The Lions may lose, but "OMG did you see that play by Suh?" He's great. Him and Corey Williams definately give us lion faithful hope (been a lion fan since 91.) Although, every time i think we are going to do good things, we end up messing up somehow i.e. a few yeas ago we started 6-2..then ended the season 2-6, the n.y jets game then we come out and play like crap against the bills . Anyways, Stafford will be a good qb if he can stay healthy, the lions right side of the line is horrible..Raiola and Backus definately need to go, even tho Raiola is a fellow husker he is a HORRIBLE nfl center. He also flipped off the crowd a few years ago. Lions are two years away, we need a second cb (smith is an amazing cb, 5 ints in 7 games), our lb corp needs help. We had to sign carpenter because everyone is hurt and we need a power back. OH well, im used to the "same old lions" phrase but i definately hope to make it up to a game in ford field sometime! Lol. This is my first year as a Lions fan and after every game, I'm like "Wow, so close! We'll definitely get it next time!" my fiancé just looks at me, shakes his head, and mutters something about me being in the first stage f being a Lions fan. Hope, anger, disbelief, resentment, then acceptance -> those are the stages. He still loves the Lions, though they seem to find ways to make you think they can/will win and then lose in a heartbreaking fashion. Lions...rebuilding since 1957!
  8. So you haven't seen the current offense in operation?
  9. Casual fans may be overconfident about RTanny's abilities but people who really watch the game are not. He had 2 picks against OU and very easily could have had 4 more. He will be a very good QB but I recognize his inexperience now in some of his decisions. He tries to put the ball in some really tight places and sometimes takes a sack outside the pocket instead of throwing it away. These things are going to haunt him cone gametime I'm sure. I expect many TOs but I trust our defense to pick up the slack. Can't wait though!
  10. When we want to talk mess about the state of Nebraska, here's how we do it. From the "SAY MEAN THINGS ABOUT THE STATE OF NEBRASKA" thread on Texags: "THEY HAVE A UNICAMERAL LEGISLATURE.WHAT KIND OF COMMUNIST **** IS THAT??" "PROBABLY NO DECENT MEXICAN RESTAURANTS (at least outside Omaha and/or Lincoln)" "THEIR COACH HAS A LAST NAME THAT SOUNDS LIKE A WARM, PRESSED SANDWICH!!!! BO PANINI!!!!!!" "THE PEOPLE THERE ARE TOO EFFING NICE??? WHO CAN BE THAT NICE ALL THE TIME???" "NEBRASKA WAS THE 37TH STATE TO JOIN THE US. PATHETIC." "The state nickname used to be the "Tree Planter's State", but was changed in 1945 to the "Cornhusker State". NEBRASKANS WOULD RATHER HUSK CORN THAN PLANT TREES!!! GLOBAL WARMING ISN'T CAUSED BY MAN, IT IS CAUSED BY NEBRASKA!!" "SPAM IS MADE THERE! I HATE SPAM! ANGER!" "'NEBRASKA' SORT OF SOUNDS LIKE 'ALASKA'!!! SO CONFUSING!!" "I GET DISTRACTED BY THE "BRA" IN THE MIDDLE OF THEIR NAME!!!" "EPPLEY AIRFIELD IN OMAHA IS WAY TOO EASY TOO GET IN AND OUT OF COMPARED TO IAH!!!!! YOURE JUST HELPING THE TERRORISTS, EPPLEY AIRFIELD!!!!!"
  11. I've never even heard of this blog (and neither have many others considering the dearth of comments despite really inflammatory content) but he strikes me as the very sort of person who would hate A&M and its quirks. Ironic. I think he's posting crap like that to get traffic - his other "articles" are just as bad.
  12. I wouldn't say that. Yes, relative to other teams our defense allows more yards, but we've faced five of the top fifteen (including three of the top five) passing offenses in the nation, so it's going to follow that our stats are worse. But notably, with the exception of Tech, who we let get a lot of garbage yards in the fourth, we held all of them to significantly fewer yards than their average. Looking at a common opponent, you guys let OSU get 283 pass yards. We let them have 284 pass yards. We also held them to fewer total yards than you did (351 for A&M, 495 for NU). I'm not going to say our pass defense is as good as yours, but ours is not atrocious. Wow that must have been a HUGE win for aggy then. Well as we all know, a team is made of both offense and defense. The D can only do so much when the offense has five turnovers. But I thought this conversation was about our respective defenses...
  13. while true, improved tackling is one of the single biggest reasons for our D's turnaround. Yes, THAT was the difference I noticed during the Oklahoma game.
  14. Busted through our record of 28,200! We are now at 29,325 student tickets...almost to 30,000, the current record held by Ohio State. Tomorrow tickets go on sale for students who don't have season passes.
  15. I've been ambivalent at best about Sherman in the past, but I feel pretty good about him now. You're right, these wins are most consistent than they were under Fran; those games weren't won, it felt more like we were lucky or the other teams didn't show up. These W's this year were fought for!
  16. I checked it earlier and that's what it said. BTW it's a common expression used by Yell Leaders. Something like, "Come Saturday, the Aggies are going to be the ever living, ever loving (throw in some funny/clever/corny adjectives here) HELL outta Nebraska" If you hear that Saturday, don't get offended!

  18. "T-sips" are Texas students but where it comes from, I don't know. I've heard several answers, but the one I've heard the most is that it came back during WW2. A&M was a military school at that time, and a lot of students at UT were perceived to be highfalutin (yes, never get to use that word!) rich sons of doctors and lawyers who stayed home from war, sipping tea.
  19. He definitely is, but they got that from us. ;p I watched the YouTube of your tunnel walk (pretty cool btw!) and I noticed that familiar yell from the Huskers crowd. 20. Have any of y'all made it out to a Lions game yet? I'm marrying a boy from Detroit who comes from a HUGE Lions family - oh wow do those fans love Suh! Any time he so much as breathes deeply, the stadium erupts with "SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH" He's electric to watch.
  21. I've heard that about your team and was wondering if this may be the case...
  22. Michigan does this, and I think it really takes the advantage out of the student section. I was suprised at how quiet a 110,000 person stadium was. And it's not because the students aren't yelling - I've sat both in the student and alumni sections.
  23. Most non-Aggies probably don't think much of Jerrod Johnson, considering his many turnovers and inability to get the W in key games this year. But we Aggies absolutely love him. His dad played for A&M, and Jerrod grew up wanting to play at A&M too and worked his butt off to get the starting QB job. He was adamant about brining A&M back to its former glory - and he really wore that dream on his sleeve. Nobody wanted A&M to win more than Jerrod. He was supposed to have a breakout year this year, but after his shoulder surgery, he just wasn't the same. But he's taken the crappy hand of cards with nothing but absolute dignity and class. You'll see him on the sideline, cheering his teammates and giving advice to Tannehill. As he said in his interview the other day, he'd be lying if he said the situation wasn't hard, but he "came to A&M a kid and will be leaving a man." He gave us a solid foundation to rebuild our team and will leave A&M after busting several A&M QB records. I have nothing but absolute respect for him and wish him the best.
