  1. I haven't seen anything from Washington since we mauled them to make me worry. Yea things have not gone quite the way we wanted since we played them, but they haven't exactly looked like a team who turned it all around either. I say Big Red by 17.
  2. Well I know I'll get beat up for this but It's not whether or not he's a good fit or would be a good O.C; the question is can we afford to pay him AND FEED HIM ? "The police said I had the right to remain silent..but I just didn't have the ability" (Ron White as best as I remember) "I don't care who you are, that's just funny"
  3. I think Cody's grandma would have stood a chance there on some of those sacks Taylor took. Slight exaggeration but I'd be surprised if Cody took sacks with all kinds of time like Taylor did. Then, maybe he throws some picks or fumbles so you never know. He had time on a few plays and made boneheaded plays by not throwing the ball away. But for the most part the o-line was getting torched all night. Let's be honest with ourselves here. Correction. The oline was getting torched EXCEPT when we ran the wildcat. Funny how a run blocking oline can succeed with a running game plan. So if enough heat is on watson does he take the vandy job? I started a topic/thread yesterday "O-line must play great" and it only got two replys. Seems kind or ironic now.....
  4. I know it goes without saying, but we really need the O-line to play well and dominate the line of schrimage today. No matter who ends up under center, in the backfield, or out on the ends the O-line play will be more critical than ever if we're to win today. "It all starts up front" is a common catch phrase but it's where it all "start and ends" today. GBR!
  5. Man, that's good stuff right there! I've been thinking so much about the game it's easy to loose sight of what's really important. You just hit the nail on the head. No question I want the Huskers to DOMINATE the sooners, but I'm looking forward to watching the game via. internet and satellite with friends and family (due to my location). Good reply and like you I hope everyone here enjoys; and here Sir, is to you and yours. GBR!
  6. This is what I mean when I said earlier, sarcastically, that every competent OC clearly needs to put up the same stats against top defenses as with bad ones, whether he is running his 1st string QB or his 3rd string. Not sure how good OU's D is this year, but I really hope Green can build on the confidence he took from last week's game. The defense will have to be leaned on to win this game, which is why I'm glad it isn't OSU, because we had to count on the offense to simply outscore those guys. Zoogies, I totally get where you're coming from, but let's be honest with ourselves. If Green can go out there and get us 21-28 points, and we lose by a field goal, that's one thing. Watson's issue is he goes from brilliant to completely inept in these situations. We're talking zero touchdowns. Losing games that would have been won if we had scored a single touchdown. The beef with Watson isn't that he never calls a good game. It's that when he struggles, we lay an egg. There's a lot of good opinions being posted on this website and that's what it's for and why it's great. However opinions are just that (including mine) but facts are facts and they do not lie. So in my opinion Nebraska's offense has been anemic at best with Watson at the helm. Great numbers against weak teams (fact) and transparent defenses, and argueably competitive at best against good teams with good defenses (fact by statistics). Has there been great plays and numbers put up against good teams? Yes. But we are NEBRASKA and that should be the norm, not the exception. Nebraska fields as good of athletes as any major program in the country. Martinez, Burkhead, Helu, Green, O-line and recievers. The defense "BLACKSHIRTS" is dominating and exceptional. The NEBRASKA standard. So as all of the threads on this subject grows, you have to start asking yourself what is the problem? At some point Watson's performance is extremely questionable. If the offense had performed even slightly better in pivotal games, we would be defending Big-12 champs for several years now, and quite possibly National Champions during Watsons tenure as O.C. So while the debate continues about Watson's job and if he should remain, unquestionably NEBRASKA would have a much better record and titles with the same players if the offense had been better managed. So just like any player is accountable for his performance on any play, Watson is just as accountable for his performance. And just like any player who isn't performing as he should, Watson should be benched or cut. If I do not live up to my obligations and perform at my job, I will be held accountable and have to face the consequences. I doubt any of us could go to work and not perform or produce and remain employed. So why should Watson's lack of production and performance be any different? Answer: it shouldn't be and it's not, and that's a FACT. Regardless of everyone's opinion, we must all agree... WIN OR LOOSE I'M A CORNHUSKER THRU-AND THRU, GO BIG RED, BEAT O.U.!!! X2 x 10. And most posts or replys since agree as well, everyone expressing it in their own way. It seems the concensus is Watson has "come up short" as the O.C. Very fitting.
  7. "speculation" and debate, is what the board is for....and so it continues. Love the self portrait!
  8. I'm drinkin' that Kool-Aid. I want to crush them beat them with their best. No excuses, flat out spank' dat' A$$!! CAN.. YOU.. DIG.. IT!!!!! Hell I'll dig it, put it in, say a prayer, and put dirt on it. And kindly ask for some of that Kool-Aid your sippin' on if I may kind Sir.
  9. And so the speculation (as mentioned) begins....
  10. An earlier thread asked if he'd be ready for a bowl game. If he could "go" in the CCG that would be awesome, but everyone's going to speculate how healthy is he, at what percent, and all of that. I say if the young man feels he can play and contribute, LET HIM! Maybe he's "gettin the fever" of N.U. vs O.U..!!!!
  11. I can imagine lot's of the same types of posts about T. Mart. on the Sooners websites. How bad is he hurt, will he play, all of that. The fact is that without a doubt this is a no-holds-bared game and each team wants this one bad. So I think no matter what player(s) get in the game, their going to leave it all out on the field. It could be wishful thinking, but I truly think that this could end up being a true N.U.-O.U. classic. I can imagine that behind closed locker room doors and on practice fields this week, the two teams are gathered round' as their coaches remind them of the history, tradition, honor, and all that is at steak, whenever N.U. & O.U. meet. Because whether your a walk-on or an All-American, has been or never was, rabid fan or passer by, this is N.U. vs. O.U. baby! And that my friends simply can't be ignored. If your not feelin' this one, someone needs to check your pulse.. So here's to another classic, GO BIG RED BEAT OU!
  12. I agree just like the good ol' Big 8 Conference days, pure CLASSIC!
  13. There's a lot of %'s being thrown around here and rightfully so. The coaching staff should make the decision based on the win against the Buff's, how the quartebacks perform in this week's practice, and Martinez's status. The latter only the trainers and coaching staff know for sure. As much as we all want a Big-12 championship, I'd sure like to have Martinez as healthy as possible for the bowl game.
  14. Yea the time off will help them get healthy and that's important but I'm already missing not watching a game next week. Of course there's always that NFL thing. What are you guys talking about? We've got the CCG next week. And what does this have to do with whatever bowl game we'll play in? Good catch I was refering to the CCG, and for some reason thought it was two weeks away...
  15. All I know at this point is that for once I'm not dreading the weeks ahead without a game. Now the team has time to take a breath, prepare, and most important get healthy.
