Recruiting has quieted down in recent days. Perhaps its a dead period or perhaps coaches got a commit in peat or grimble and a couple others and are just waiting til nsd. That could be why we cooled so much on other people. Never know ....carter was a commit for a month or better.

If the sound system was re done so that it was loud and full and resonating so we could hear it ....I love sirius. Bad ace.......just needs improvement on the sound system.

Or know players and or coaches. It also helps to have lived in several large recruiting hotbeds and know the newspapers there and be able to scour the internet sites for small rumors and tibbits offered and piece them together. Rivals is the way brother...scout sucks.

I highly doubt we would be after a kicker this hard if we had any confidence that anyone currently on the squad could consistently boom kickoffs like adi or perhaps the problem is accuracy but either way I'd say we need a kicker.

But I'm a red koolaide drinker. I think we have a shot at the national championship. So there you go.

I my self am terrified of our offense next yr. We have no proven leader or leadership. We have no stand out consistent qb or qb play. We don't know how to call plays like screens or short slants to take pressure off qbs. We can't run block consistently. We can't pass block consistently. We cant hold on to the football consistently. We can't catch consistently. We have one....1 Rb with experience returning and although he is currently the baddest man on the field and a stud, fact is we are one injury away from starting a true freshman. We play a tough schedule and we are in a new unfamiliar conference and unfamiliar venues. I'm terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought.

We also visited our old dline friend five star jalen grimble recently. Papuchis should get some kind of award as he seems to be our only strong recruiting weapon. We also are still looking for a cb. Don't be surprised to see one POP back up on the radar soon. A familiar name perhaps.......??. It's crunch time jp.

The fact I have been stomped on for voicing my opinion on gilmore surprises me. Perhaps its because I have only 2 posts rather than 3000. Or....I started a new screen name after many years of providing information and knowledge and have only had time to post 3 times. Either way fact is our wrs are not getting better skill wise. Strength and speed and vertical jump is not gilmores job. Catching and route running however is. Back to husker football...I'm bored with high school popularity contests on husker board.

with TRAY ROB leaving i suspect we have an extra schollie for carter too. We have 17 commits and I think we will still take wile, carter, lake, and a linebacker. Either virgile or jenkins. Id also be amazed if we dont land a late additional DB, possibly Frankie Williams out of tampa. Making 22 be the final.

Although gilmore is worthless as a recruiter I believe him when he said we want another db. I would be shocked if we didn't sign another. Possibly looking at frankie Williams out of Tampa but can't confirm that. I expect atleast one recruit to not make grades. I'd add wile for sure at k and lake and carter at de. If peat commits make room but perhaps take an athlete that can be wr or db and wiggle the scholly numbers if you have to. Gilmore is awful at recruiting and coaching up guys so any decent wr is gonna go elsewhere.

Along with the topic of LB coach I think it is worth noting that just because there have been no firings they still very well could happen. I think there are several possible senarios building up to next yr. I think pelini wont fire anyone until after signing day. I would suspect if there are changes that we could see gilmore gone. The coaches I think that are suspect are Gilmore, Watson and Cotton. I would imagine a LB coach will be hired once recruiting winds down. I cant imagine firing gilmore, the recruiting coordinator until after signing day. He has to go however before even Watson. We have or have had NFL calibre guys (Brooks,Purify,Paul)at WR that are under achieving or not being utilized or coached up consistently. Gilmore has yet to pull in any big name or any recruits that im aware of and we cant seem to get a top notch wr. We recruit top guys at every other position but yet cant ever get even one highly rated wr to commit. Im all for scott frost or any new blood as wr coach. Maybe make gilmore simply recrutiting coordinator and give him a desk job?
