  1. I agree that Ark. St could put up some points on us. I am very curious to see what the young guys can do this weekend. I would be a fan of dumbing down the playbook/scheme just in order to get our athletes on the field. We are SLOW with the guys we have out there now....
  2. In what way? I agree that Sab"a"n is a much more accomplished coach, but is he a better defensive mind then Pelini? The perception seems to be that they are similar in that aspect, even though their schemes are different. Saban has the benefit of MUCH better talent. We have seen what Bo can do with similar talent, and it is pretty special. That 2009 D with Suh, Hagg, Gomes, Prince, Dennard, and Crick was absolutely stifling. I would agree that Bo has a long way to go to be compared to Saban when it comes to accomplishments, but I don't know if Bo takes a back seat to anybody in football when it comes to defensive knowledge.
  3. There won't be any changes to the defensive staff, unless one of them gets a better job in my opinion. The only changes I could see is Cotton. Give the guy a cozy job in the athletic department somewhere.
  4. Ummm....he's been through it for about 3 seasons now and it's still not fixed. Gotta wonder. Exactly! I'm all about being aboard the Bo Train. I'm not trying to unduly rip the guy, but listen - if your calling card is tremendous defense, there is never an excuse for a game like this at UCLA. And we've had several like this over Bo's tenure. Enough with the words. Bo says all the right words. I'm sick of hearing the words. Just get this crap fixed. There is no question the responsibility for the defense falls on Bo, but the guy didn't just forget how to coach defense. His scheme works, he has proved that for years now. I think where Bo has failed is on the recruiting front. He has missed on some of his defensive guys his first few classes, that fact is showing it's head now. I will give Bo some credit though, because it seems that he is on his way to fixing the issues with better recruiting. This last years class seems to have better athletes. In my opinion Bo is a fantastic coach, and a great defensive mind. Where Bo, and Saban are seperated is in the fact that Saban CAN afford to miss on some recruits, whereas Bo CAN"T.... And he clearly has....
  5. Its hard to get anything accomplished when you have 1200 pounds of Dlinemen in your face all night.... Martinez and Abdullah were the only reasons we were in the game! some guy named Kenny Bell disagrees. But I get what your'e saying. Honestly though it was more like 1200 pounds of DL, and 600 pounds of LBers/Safeties...because they brought a couple extra quite frequently. Funny how that disrupts and offense. Pretty sure Bell dropped a ball. Show me a receiver who doesn't!! Bell is one of the best in the B1G, and only a Soph.....

Honestly though it was more like 1200 pounds of DL, and 600 pounds of LBers/Safeties...because they brought a couple extra quite frequently. Funny how that disrupts and offense. You're right, how could I forget Bell.... He is turning into an outstanding WR, and at this pace he could be the best we've had in a long long time.... Count me as a big believer in Martinez, and the offense.... Its funny, I have heard very few people mention the fact that we were playing without our best player, Rex Burkhead. If we had Rex then I believe we win that game, because in the late game situation Beck would have had no choice but to give him the ball. As an OC you couldn't forget about Rex in that situation, the way that Beck apparently forgot about Abdullah....

  8. NCAA has them listed as 7th...but not that that makes a hell of a lot of difference. And if it's any consolation, they're ranked 48th in Scoring Offense. But that's not much of a consolation either I bet we shut em down....
  9. I was being sarcastic. I've seen your list of candidates a number of times already. Petersen is the only one listed above that I would even consider wanting.... In my opinion, we should stick with Bo because I believe he is the guy for Nebraska....
  10. Let's assume IF.... Do you have any hire suggestions?
  11. why has other programs not yet got them? do you know these people? do you know if they would coach a college team, let alone the huskers? I am just throwing out names. Why not?? I know LSU was considering Gruden back when they got Miles. I will say this for you.... You have a lot of ideas....
  12. A little "shedding of light" for those who think that Bo can't coach.... If you remember this particular Cowherd show (I listen to a lot of them), Colin couldn't quit gushing over Bo, and how highly regarded he is as a coach. Some of the quotes from the show are in this journal star blog link. http://my.journalstar.com/post/Husker_Extra_Group/Husker_Extra/blog/private_planes_trains_and_cowherd.html
  13. I think that Papuchis' face in the picture indicates that Bo might have a reason to yell.... The issue with Bo isn't his temper, or his yelling. It is his winning. Saban, and Meyers get away with their tempers and rants because they have rings... Bo will be fine....
  14. Was Saban a head honcho before he started winning at LSU?
  15. We haven't seen those guys play yet, though. Compton looked really good coming out of highschool, as did Whaley. But something's not going well in developing players. I was just speaking to athletic ability. Who knows how they'll turn out....
  16. The offense.... I don't see why everyone is so upset with the performance of the offense last night, and more specifically Taylor Martinez. I noticed that some seem to think he is the same QB as last year (are you high?). Even last night you could see the improvements in his game, and I am excited about his future in this offense, and this program. Does he have things to work on? Sure he does, but there is NO doubt that he has dramatically improved. He performed quite well with defenders in face all night long. We have also found a future #1 back in Abdullah. That kid has some wiggle, and will run the ball inside pretty well. He also has good hands out of the backfield, and can pass protect well enough for a sophmore. We are stacked at WR. Bell, and Enunwa have incredibly bright futures (especially Bell). I am impressed with their toughness (especially Enunwa), and their willingness to block downfield. I think that Wullenwaber, and Evans good be pretty good in the future as well. How about Braylon Heard, that kid has fantastic vision, and should be very useful in the years to come. I think people are forgetting that we were missing our best player last night (Burkhead). I think that we might have won that game with Burkhead, because we could have went to him on those late drives for reliable, hard-nosed playmaking. I was not real excited about Beck's playcalling last night, but he put the ball in his best available player's hands (Martinez). The defense.... There were not a whole lot of positives here, but I do think that the secondary has some potential. Specifically, Josh Mitchell has emerged as our best cover corner, and the fact that he is only a sophmore is fairly exciting. One last thought.... The loss is hard to take, but I don't think people are realizing how good/athletic that UCLA team was. They had some athletes that are going to be some of the best we see all year, and I think that offense might be the best we see all year period. The defense played bad, but I don't think this will look like a bad loss in November, UCLA should easily be the third best team in the PAC-12....
  17. The guys Bo has gotten in the last couple years (Valentine,Curry,Moss,Williams) seem like better athletes then the guys he was gettting before that (Ashburn,Randle, and the Minnesota kid Tobi?)..... Also compare Compton,Whaley, and Fisher to Santos, Zaire,, and Charles Jackson.... Now im talking athletic ability, and that seems to have improved in recruiting lately....
  18. I actually think we'll lose less then 4 games this year... B1G is weak....
  19. I agree however....when do you start holding him accountable for his team's lack luster performance game in an d game out. Yes we look good beating cup cake teams but when it comes to playing above average teams, we don't seem to get it done! He should be held accountable, but not fired.... To your point earlier about recruiting, I think Bo had trouble recruiting great athletes a couple years ago, but it seems that the past couple of classes the level of athletes has improved... In my opinion the talent will start showing through on defense in a couple years.... It already is showing on offense, despite all the bitching, I feel the offense is stacked....
  20. You will not attract any big name coaches if you keep firing guys for 9 and 10 win seasons....Anyone calling for Bo's head at tgis point is a moron....
  21. kuh-napple. Ok, only one of these makes sense (MINE ) where the hell is nap-lick/snapple/napple-see/kuh-napple to set this straight.....
  22. I pronounce it "nap-lick" in my mind.... What part of you is he licking? Easy bud, i barely know you....
  23. This thread is now "HOT".... I guess there was victory tonight....
