  1. DItto. Well said, Calla. Let's get behind our boys 100% next week at a tough environment in Penn St.
  2. Toughest losses - FSU in the Orange Bowl - 1994, Texas in Big XII Championship game - 2009. Extremely hard losses to swallow, but in both games, we were over 17 pt underdogs. The team played well and earned a lot of respect in defeat. I was very proud to be a Husker fan despite these losses. The Callahan years had a lot of disappointment, but that entire regime was a fiasco, so I consider it a wash. Most disappointing - I'd say the Northwestern loss yesterday and the ISU loss in 2009. In both circumstances, the team came out very flat and never seemed to be "in the game." We have to avoid having let downs like this at home. Perhaps it's Bo's "roller coaster of emotion" that causes the team to come out unprepared at times?
  3. After watching the HS video, I think Abdullah has just as good of shot as the other incoming freshman for playing time. I know Green has received more national recognition, but he dances in hole a lot while looking for his spot. This type of style is going to be much more difficult at the next level. For being a smaller back, Abdullah runs north/south and with a surprising amount of a power. I do believe Heard and Abdullah will see more action than Green next season. Green is going to be a good player, but I think he's going to need a little more time to develop a style that will work at the D1 level.
  4. I know there are a lot of opinions swirling out there regarding MA as head coach of the NU baseball team. With their struggles over the last 3 seasons, I do believe some criticism is justified. That said, if MA were to be let go, who could be his replacement? I know there are the obvious names of Will Bolt, Brian O'Connor, Erstad etc., but would candidates see NU as a good job with NU moving to the B1G next season? Don't get me wrong, I am an avid fan of Husker baseball, but I personally don't think it would be an attractive job. Realistically, I see this job as being a stepping stone job for young, up and coming coaches to come into, have success for 3-4 years, and then move onto greener pastures at a higher RPI baseball conference (Big XII, SEC, ACC etc). Would Nebraska fans be happy if this is were case?
  5. Don't most athletes struggle when they're injured? Heck, MLB pitchers take weeks off because of blisters. At high levels even small injuries can cause major problems. You make a good very good point. TM's quickness is his best asset and if he doesn't have that, it makes for a rough go of it on game day. More importantly, I think it's imperative the coaches have QB2 (whoever that may be) ready to go this season should TM go down. It seemed last season once TM got dinged up, we had no direction on offense whatsoever.
  6. This is right on point. With the size of the class we're taking we have to be very selective. I am very happy with where our recruiting is. Some very high profile kids are showing strong interest in us. Just give it some time and let things play out.
  7. TM is definitely our biggest PROVE IT player going into the season. I'll think we'll find out rather quickly if he was a "flash in the pan" or if he really is solid D1 quarterback. We have no reason to believe he will not be the starter. It's obvious that Bo is enamored with what his skill set brings to the table. We heard all spring about how his leadership improved throughout the offseason, but I think a lot of that was rehearsed verbiage the team used. I suspect they were telling the media what they wanted to hear. TM's injury issues are also a big concern. It appears he may be one of those players that if one thing is "off" they are just not right at all. Does anybody see the similarities btwn TM and Tiger Woods? When things are going well they are the greatest thing this side of the mason dixon line, but when things are going bad, it's always because of a tweaked ankle or knee.
  8. I think next season going to be a lot like our last season. Although, it should be improved, it's hard for me to see our offense being "leaps and bounds" better than it was last year. This transition could take some time. I think the road games at Wisky and PSU will be tough environments for us. To win on the road, you need to be able to rally the team and overcome adversity when things aren't going well. We need to make plays when they are ABSOLUTELY necessary. TM didn't show us he was capable of that last season and things didn't appear to be much different in the spring. That said, I see us losing to Wisky and PSU on the road, but still making it to the CCG. I think we'll play tOSU and end up losing. It's always hard to beat a team twice in the same season. FWIW: I see us at 10-3 going into the bowl game.
