slacker
Irregular News for 10.31.06 Anchorage, AK -- A close school board race in Adak has been settled after being up in the air for more than three weeks, but the winner is dead. Incumbent Katherine Dunton and challenger Dona Highstone were tied after the Oct. 3 election, but Dunton died on Election Day. The race still had to be decided by a coin toss, so Division of Elections director Whitney Brewster flipped the coin to determine the winner yesterday. Highstone called heads, but the coin landed on tails, so Dunton won the coin toss and the race. Election officials believe this is the first time this has happened. source Quote Link to comment
