Here's some background: I've been a Husker fan since the 84 Orange Bowl. I was eight years old. Loved Turner Gill, loved Dean Steinkuhler, loved Mike Rozier. Followed them ever since.

Now, following your logic, I shouldn't be a Husker fan right now. I should have walked away from "Husker Nation" after 2004. By your logic, any game that the Huskers lose is a game to quit on. Extrapolate that logic, and it would figure that any season which isn't a undefeated one is one that I should quit on. And just imagine how disillusioned I must be if the Huskers fail to go undefeated for 10 straight years!! Oh!! The humanity!

 

No one says you shouldn't be a Nebraska fan. You should be. Do what you want. Be disillusioned. It probably isn't hard when the TV is turned off anyway.

 

Then why in the hell am I still here, dude? Why do I still root for the Huskers every Saturday? Why did I have a knot in my stomach for about an hour before the SC game? Why did my brother leave a message on my cell phone Friday night wishing me and the Huskers good luck?

I read other Big 12 message boards from time to time. Sadly, I know exactly what they are talking about when they rip on self-righteous Husker fans.

 

If you'll look closely, I wasn't ripping on anyone. I'll admit, 'coward' was a bad word to use. But do you even know what you're talking about when you call me 'self-righteous?' You asked if you were a fair-weather fan, I answered you, and said you were. Don't ask questions that you don't want the answers to.
