Nebrask lost and guess what

I turned off the TV after it got to 42-10.

Anyone want to call me a fair-weather fan?

If NU would've been up 42-10, would you have turned it off? Of course not.

Fair weather fan.

Newsflash, dude:

People like you DON'T give Husker Nation a good name....

Now go revile in your self-righteousness...

So define 'Husker Nation'.

The cowardly fair-wather fans who turn off the game at 42-10...or those who stick it out and watch NU gut it out, put up some more points, and continue to play as hard as they can.

Sorry, 'dude'...I don't quit on Nebraska when the going isn't good. Apparently you do. If you are the epitome of Husker Nation, 'Husker Nation' will probably shut off their TV's if Ball State ever gets into the red zone.

Thanks for making me appreciate Nebraska football.

Yeah, it takes a brave man to sit in front of a TV.

Puke. This is exactly what I'm talking about.

Here's some background: I've been a Husker fan since the 84 Orange Bowl. I was eight years old. Loved Turner Gill, loved Dean Steinkuhler, loved Mike Rozier. Followed them ever since.

Now, following your logic, I shouldn't be a Husker fan right now. I should have walked away from "Husker Nation" after 2004. By your logic, any game that the Huskers lose is a game to quit on. Extrapolate that logic, and it would figure that any season which isn't a undefeated one is one that I should quit on. And just imagine how disillusioned I must be if the Huskers fail to go undefeated for 10 straight years!! Oh!! The humanity!

Then why in the hell am I still here, dude? Why do I still root for the Huskers every Saturday? Why did I have a knot in my stomach for about an hour before the SC game? Why did my brother leave a message on my cell phone Friday night wishing me and the Huskers good luck?

I read other Big 12 message boards from time to time. Sadly, I know exactly what they are talking about when they rip on self-righteous Husker fans.

Exhibit "A": Foppa.

Good heavens. Now true fans are only those who make it to Memorial Stadium?

Pardon me for living in Washington State.

Hahha no. He call people cowards for shutting off the TV as though NOT turning off the TV takes a man of fortitude and courage ;) I don't think that it's an act of courage to watch anything... that was my point.

I think it's silly to criticize people for turning off the TV, and that Washusker doesn't really need to explain himself to anyone. It doesn't make him any less of a fan.

Last year, I only watched half the colorado game because I had better things to do and it didn't seem to be a game of great significance anyway. I missed some excellent trick plays, regrettably.

Anyway, I was glued to the set til the end just because I felt like watching the whole thing, waiting for some spark of life, garbage time or not, from the Huskers...and I didn't have anything better to do. But that doesn't mean people who turned the set off are less of a fan.

That said, if you go to the stadium, I think you've got to stay and show your support. I was so disappointed seeing the empty stadium at the end of the game...

MODS/ADMIN

go ahead and lock this thread. I didnt intend for members to get into a pissing match with each other, or get their panties in a twist because of being called a fair weather fan because they left before the game was over or turned off the T.V. when it was 42-10

one last thing and I will be done, and not post on this thread again

A true test of a man isn't whether he can win...winning comes easy. Winning is fun. It is when you don't win that defines who you are.

Since none of you are actually playing the game, it then goes to sportsmanship, which isn't a whole lot different.

Saying you didn't watch the end of the game because of other things to do is a copout. There isn't one person out there who would've stopped watching if NU was winning.

I really don't care what kind of fan you are. If you want to get pissed off and shut off the TV, knock yourselves out. It's just cheap, in my eyes...people who can only support and watch the team when it's all rosy and nice...good for you.

Let's see... Did I watch the entire Colorado game last year? No. Did I watch the entire La Tech game? No. Maybe it makes me less of a fan, but I have other interests and responsibilities that demand my attention. I can't always justify watching a 42-10 blowout, even if it's the Huskers.

I did miss the part in the "Husker Fandom" rulebook where you have to watch every minute of every game, especially in blowout losses that make you extremely angry and you decide you had better turn away and do something more constructive. I also missed that part in the "How to me a MAN!" rulebook.

I've clearly got some studying to do.

And finally, this is the last I'll say on this matter, but if you really don't care what kind of fan I, or anyone else, am, why even respond? Did you really need that boost of self-righteous satisfaction?

Okay, I think you guys ought to cool it. Everything I've seen from Washusker is that he is one of the finest Husker fans on this board...oh, are we down to rating fans now on their quality? The response he's getting to the fact that he didn't watch the whole game is just ridiculous, out of control.

And he deserves, I think, an apology. How's this for the test of a true man: admit when you're wrong and made egregiously out of line inflammatory comments?

I agree with rob also though, if this thread is turning into a pissing match, then it's time to take it to the shed and lock it down.
