hskrdedhed
beat Ball State 14-13. This is scary to think about. Quote Link to comment
EbylHusker
The team that a I-AA team beat at the beginning of the season beat Penn St. yesterday. Sometimes teams improve from earlier games. Quote Link to comment

DaveH
Yea. I do. Just not sure it matters. Quote Link to comment
EbylHusker
I do. And I'm not making excuses. Making comparisons like that isn't always a great indicator. I just showed you why. Quote Link to comment

Yes, the irony is there, but then it starts.... Team A was beat by Team B but Team B was beat by Team U then Team U was beat by Team W!!1 then Team W lost to Team Z by a statue of liberty play in second overtime!!!1! Team Z must be better than Team A. Hard to completely follow, let alone believe that logic. Quote Link to comment
admo
Ball State has some good athletes & they played with no fear of intimidation. It was mentioned in the post game comments. Let's give them some credit. Quote Link to comment
EbylHusker
The real point is, yes we should be able to handily beat Ball St. However, they executed their offense very well yesterday and took advantage of our total lack of defense. Comparisons like that are dangerous because it totally disregards one of the key things in college football...the ability of just about any team to play above (or below) their standard level of play during any week. Our defense played like crap, their offense played great, we barely won. Quote Link to comment

Let's give them some credit. I give them tons of credit. If it werent for some dropped passes...well I dont want to think about that , but they are Ball State and we are Nebraska. We arent suppose to be taken to the wire by a MAC team. Have we really come to accept this? Quote Link to comment
DCHusker
Ball State really did play above their ability. I'm not making any excuses for our defense, which was againt pitiful. But Nate Davis was completing passes down the field to guys that were really well-covered. He was just playing out of his mind. Quote Link to comment

It's amusing how when someone steps up and says the other team played great (at least on offense), it's taken as conceding that the Huskers should be taken to the wire by teams like that. Thanks for putting words in our mouths. :asshat Quote Link to comment

Ball State should not have been within 3 tds of this team , but still outplayed us , outcoached us and embarrassed us. Is this progress? I dont see it. And with our high powered offense we should have put 70 on them easily. Quote Link to comment
EbylHusker
Has anyone in this thread said the Ball St. game should be considered progress? Are you just making this up as you go along, or what? Our offense is going to have trouble putting 70 points up on anyone until the O-line picks up their play a bit. Quote Link to comment

That alone should be enough to beat a MAC team Quote Link to comment
