LonghornP Posted November 4, 2007 Share Posted November 4, 2007 The big12 really needs Nebraska back so I am rooting for you guys to get a new coaching staff. Nebraska has always been a hard-nosed football team that terrified you when they were on your schedule. You knew when the Huskers showed up, even when you won, it was gonna be a battle. Today I saw something I have never seen before...........Nebraska gave up! That is not acceptable to most of you I am sure. You guys are one of the greatest teams/fans bases in the history of CF, and you will be back. The same happened to us back in the mid-90's. It seemed like we were headed for the bottom when we finally got on track. Now we are back and fighting for something every year. What I am trying to tell you is don't give up! It seems dark now but in reality it has only been 3 seasons since you had a 10 win season. The talent is there!! I think with a fiery coach and a little direction Husker nation will be back in no time. We need the Huskers just like the Huskers need the Horns. Like it or not the big12 isn't as strong without the Blackshirts knocking people's helmets off like old times. Once you guys are back we will take turns beating the Sooners!! Even though they haven't played well, I don't think I have seen them physically give up like I did today. It looked to me like the coaches have lost the team. KU is decent but not 80 points good! The score just got out of hand because of the 5 "gifts". I'd say we pretty much played on par today. It wasn't just the turnovers. We couldn't go ahead again after KU tied it 14-14. Bad play calling (why not more option with Helu?) Then our seive that masquerades as defense couldn't stop a good KU offense. Once KU got up by 14, it was goodnight! Quote Link to comment

Wait, never mind I know why... don't want to do anything that is actually working. That way we can have three straight incompletions and go down by 14 points. Thanks, ball game over folks!! It seemed like you guys were scrapping out of the gate, but once it got a little out of hand they just quit. When I watch the Huskers D I see guys flying around but they seem to be in the wrong spots to make the play. That's why I think it isn't a talent issue. I also saw that same team play leaps and bounds better against us, so I know they have it in them. They just need a good defensive coach to come in and restore order. Then retool the offense to run a little option but still throw it maybe 15-25 times. Quote Link to comment

Yup.......Part of good defense is keeping their offense off the field. If you guys ran the ball more, you would eat more clock giving them less possessions. Your defense wouldn't get tired either. But its true we do have the talent to make alot of noise but its like getting that one toy that you wanted for christmas and not having the batteries for it to run. i hope you kinda get what im saying. but once as we find another coach that will get this team to play hard nose football all the time we will be back and nocking heads off Quote Link to comment

The networks probably want them back too. I saw an article about how Notre Dame's season is making NBC hemmorhage (sp.?) money out their backside. Thanks LonghornP for the nice comments. College Football may need Nebraska back..........but they can keep Notre Dame!! In my opinion ND has been a "has been" for years. Nebraska plays in a conference every year with two other powerhouse football teams that they can't avoid if a NC is to be attained. That is how it should be. You shouldn't schedule all the armed forces, BYU, and a couple chumps and get in. Look at the Huskers schedule this year. If they were gonna win a NC they would've had to beat USC, Texas, Missou, Kansas, and OU.......all ranked in the top 15. Quote Link to comment

Missouri has a very well developed offensive scheme to say the least. I didn't see any of your game, but about the only good thing I can say about the Buffs is there was no quit in them, they just got beat by a much better team, and we made stupid mistakes that just added insult to injury. I guess last year's team(or a ghost of a Barnett team) showed up today. I am sure you will get back on track once you get rid of the idiot holding the reins, not that I am looking forward to that exactly,,,but I am a traditionalist and like to see great programs be great programs, particularly in the Big 12. What, are you blind? Kansas did what ever they wanted to do today....period, and that was against the defense, not because of turnovers. The turnovers came as a result of the Defense putting the Offense in such a hole they were pressed to pass on every down, so all KU had to do is sit back and play pass... This team was done in the 4th Qtr of the Missouri game, since then they have shown very little signs of life, besides the 1st half of the Texas game when in desperation all Cosgrove could come up with is full out blitz's on their qb every play, which they should have figured out sooner and that score would have been in the KU range. I am disgusted with this program. We need a whole new coaching staff, otherwise we have no hope at getting back the confidence that was resident with this program year after year.
