Colorado's legacy living on ...

Just in case you forgot about Colorado's notorious past over the past year: Junior college quarterback Colt Brennan was told Tuesday that Syracuse had dropped him. School administration did not approve Greg Robinson's scholarship offer.

Brennan was sentenced in January after being found guilty of second-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and unlawful sexual conduct. Brennan was a walk-on at Colorado in January 2004 when he allegedly went in the dorm room of a female student, fondled her and exposed himself. Colorado's legacy living on...

Colorado, while the athletic department is 3,000,000 dollars in debt, has found $35,000 to purchase 100 Dell Azim handheld electronic organizers as a reward for making a bowl game this last semester.

Are those the little beauties that automatically alphabetize the names of all the hookers you enter into them?

:clap

Dick Tharp was forced out as Athletic Director a couple of months ago.

It was so inappropriate that an Athletic Director at a major university with major athletic sex/alcohol scandals was also a part owner of a large liquor store. .....And saw no conflict of interest. Liquor Mart is....

--The largest liquor outlet in Boulder.

--Has two large lighted CU-logos displayed on the front of the store.

--Is one mile from Folsom Field.

The front page of the Rocky Mountain News features the story:

The University of Colorado spent $508,000 at liquor establishments over the past five years - two-thirds of it at a liquor store partially owned by Dick Tharp, who recently resigned as longtime athletic director....

.....CU's outlays also differed from three other Big 12 universities - Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas - where liquor purchases are severely restricted.

Officials at CU defended the spending, noting that it is a fraction of the university's total expenditures, which exceeded $1.62 billion in 2004, and that only a small part of it came from tax dollars.

"The university, first of all, serves alcohol at its events to adults," said CU spokesman Ray Gomez. "A large number of the events are donor and fund-raising events where this is expected."

As for Liquor Mart's large share, CU policy calls for examining a possible conflict of interest when more than $500,000 is spent in one fiscal year with a company in which a university official has a financial interest. Spending at Liquor Mart didn't meet that threshold.

This place is awesome! It's like the size of Walmart, and it's nothing but booze! I've never seen so many types of beer in my life. I think it had about 10 or 20 aisles of JUST BEER.

Poor Barney can't keep them in Buffville. First Gilmore to NU, now Chris Wilson to OU.

Wilson is the new replcement for Bo Pelini and replaces Jon Fabris who lasted three days. Wilson coached at CU for five years, but is an OU alum and four year letterman at LB, two time team captain from 1988-1991, and third team AA his senior year.

Is this another coach jumping ship at CU Now Barney has to replace two guys with spring practice just around the corner. Good Luck OU

K-man isn't going to like this. Barnett is receiving an award from the Parents Association.

Roller-coaster day for CU at Capitol

University of Colorado President Betsy Hoffman's abrupt departure from a state Capitol news conference punctuated a day of turmoil surrounding the school on Wednesday - a tumultuous five hours of traded barbs in marbled hallways, terse exchanges with reporters and a closed-door meeting about a leaked grand jury report.

How could the University of Colorado let things get so out of control? They didn't learn from the last HC tenure?

I have mixed emotions on this. On one hand I'm happy that these things are coming to light but on the other hand I'm disappointed and somewhat saddened. This is not only a black mark on CU but the whole conference as well. We don't want to end up with the rep the old SWC conf had. Let this be a wake up call for the other members of the conference. First Baylor and the basketball scandal and now this. Not only does NCAA need to step in but the conference as a whole as well.

Sounds like Barnett and others need a real good lawyer. Where's Johnny Cochrane when you need him?
