dbetz23
What is the best internal hard drive for the PS3? I'm looking at either a 250 gig or 500 gig. From what I read I need a 2.5 5400 rpm internal notebook hard drive. Has anyone in here done this? What's the best brand and place to buy them? I just bought my PS3, so no backup is going to be needed. Quote Link to comment
tattooedhusker
Seagate Barracuda is the brand of harddrive i've been using for years, and never had a problem with. From all the computers I've worked on, Maxtor hd's seem to give the most problems. Craigslist or ebay would be your cheapest route. Hope that helps Quote Link to comment
dbetz23
Thanks. I've been doing tons of research and everything I have read says Seagate is the best (Sony uses them as well in PS3s). Thanks for the input. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
make sure it's the right dimensions though good luck and let me know how it turns out, might inspire me to do the same thing. Quote Link to comment
tattooedhusker
double, triple check dimensions. Nothing would suck more than spending 60-80 bucks on a HD and having the fu&*#r not fit. Quote Link to comment
dbetz23
I know it has to be a 2.5 inch not a 3.5. Right now I'm looking at a 500 gig for $109. That's a ton of media! Quote Link to comment
strigori
On the PS forums I think there is a stickied thread for replacing the HDD. I just use the 60gig mine came with and stream the rest from my networked PC. Quote Link to comment
