Eric the Red
Big 12 to join replay bandwagon COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Big 12 Conference moved one rubber-stamp vote away on Wednesday from approving instant replay in football games. Athletic directors and coaches met at the conference annual meetings and decided to use the same system used by the Big Ten last year, and add an on-field monitor so the referee could give input to the official making the decision in the press box. Big 12 to prepare for tryout of replay Big 12 to prepare for tryout of replay By BLAIR KERKHOFF The Kansas City Star Every Big 12 football game this season will be a televised production, though not every game will be beamed into your living room. Instant replay, which the conference will use on an experimental basis this season, means video must be available for every game. Quote Link to comment
craigsker
I like it. It will keep the game more honest whatever the outcome. After all isn't that part of being a Husker? Hard work and fair play? It goes in line with everything I hope we as Husker Nation stand for... Quote Link to comment
DaveH
I wouldn't mind seeing replay used, but don't let it get out of control. To start, I think it should be a tool of the officiating crew, not the coaches like it is in the NFL. If they come together and no one got a definite look at what happened (it happens to the best of crews), then use it. Quote Link to comment
StuckinChicago
I love it, and I dont mind the NFL system. Refs can be wrong and they have been wrong, and alot of the time they think that they were right. Let's see the fairest game possible and make sure the true winner comes out on top. rawhide
Definitely, if used as an officiating tool to correct a questionable call. Damn, just think what 83 would have been like TO's first NC maybe! GBR Quote Link to comment

DaveH
From what I have read, Callahan and Pederson voted for the coaches ability to challenge and were the only ones to vote that way. Make sense as Callahan has been able to use the challenge in the NFL. I don't think it belongs in the college game and I really don't care for it in the NFL. The replay should be used as an officia'ls tool. Quote Link to comment

If they know what they are doing and want the game to be officiated correctly, they will use it. They still have to be competent enough to become an ref in the first place, replay isn't going to make Joe Armchairquarterback into a Div-1 ref. Even the best crews can get caught out of position or don't agree on what they saw. Replay lets them see it again. IMO, it has nothing to do with being competent. If the ref won't use it because he is self conscious, maybe he shouldn't be officiating. Quote Link to comment
indianahusker
Is this going to be kind of like what the Big 10 (11) used last year? Quote Link to comment
