shortwavez
My buddy had me listen to the Styx new album this weekend. We were having a bbq and playing a little football. It was really odd- it took me back. He works at universal so he always knows who is coming out with new cds. I forgot all about them. It was cool though- it made me remember babe being played at my high school dances. They are classic. Val Quote Link to comment
Pedro Guerrero
I went and saw them in High School and Tommy Shaw pulled me up on stage and I did the Robot to Mr. Roboto. Quote Link to comment

rawhide
This could get uuuuugly in a hurry if somebody starts using the D word. I grew up with 50's rock on KLMS(Lincoln AM) and heaven forbid, beatles, stones and the doors. Some of the old rock will never get old or be an emBAREASSMOMENT but some 70's-80's stuff definitely gets negative pressure. To each their own. I may be 50+ but Limpbizkit and Korn and etc. KICK SOME RIGHTEOUS ASS. I got tattoos older than some of the posters here but hey cycle of life. At our gradiation(sic)( ) they played 3 dog night go figure. (Waverly) DONT MATTER GBR ps I live in So Cal now so there is an excuse involved course I moved here 21 years ago and lost track of time naw Quote Link to comment

Red November
Babe Written by Dennis DeYoung Lead Vocals by Dennis DeYoung Babe, I'm leaving, I must be on my way The time is drawing near My train is going, I see it in your eyes The love, the need, your tears But I'll be lonely without you And I'll need your love to see me through Please believe me, my heart is in your hands And I'll be missing you. You know it's you Babe Whenever I get weary and I've had enough Feel like giving up You know it's you Babe Giving me the courage and the strength I need Please believe that it's true Babe, I love you. You know it's you Babe Whenever I get weary and I've had enough Feel like giving up You know it's you Babe Giving me the courage and the strength I need Please believe that it's true Babe, I love you. Babe, I'm leaving, I'll say it once again Somehow try to smile I know the feeling we're trying to forget If only for a while But I'll be lonely without you And I'll need your love to see me through Please believe me, my heart is in your hands And I'll be missing you Babe, I love you. Interpretation Dennis wrote this song for his wife, Suzanne. It was not intended to be a Styx song at the time, but it eventually became their first #1 single. The song is about how difficult it is to be on the road, away from his wife, who he loves dearly. Quote Link to comment
Red November
Or how about Eric Cartman speed singing these lyrics Come Sail Away Written by Dennis DeYoung Lead Vocals by Dennis DeYoung I'm sailing away, set an open course for the virgin sea I've got to be free, free to face the life that's ahead of me On board, I'm the captain, so climb aboard We'll search for tomorrow on every shore And I'll try, oh Lord, I'll try to carry on I look to the sea, reflections in the waves spark my memory Some happy, some sad I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had We live happily forever, so the story goes But somehow we missed out on that pot of gold But we'll try best that we can to carry on A gathering of angels appeared above my head They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said They said come sail away, come sail away Come sail away with me Come sail away, come sail away Come sail away with me I thought that they were angels, but to my surprise They climbed aboard their starship and headed for the skies Singing come sail away, come sail away Come sail away with me Come sail away, come sail away Come sail away with me Interpretation Come Sail Away is about reaching for your dreams (not about UFOs and alien encounters). The angels and the aliens are figurative voices encouraging you to "come sail away" to wherever your dreams would take you. Quote Link to comment

IrishAZ
First concert I ever went to - Styx on the Kilroy Was Here tour at the Notre Dame ACC (my big brother took me...great time). Only show on that tour they did an encore....awesome. Had this cool opening movie (the story of Johnathan Chance, the Majority for Musical Morality, etc) that segwayed onto the stage live and then did a "flashback" to the last concert at the Paradise Theater (which became the actual concert). Really cool idea, and a great band live. Quote Link to comment
formerfan
I was never really big on Styx until I saw them in concert a few years ago, but I was really impressed with their sound and their energy. Great concert!! Quote Link to comment
