Traffic tickets vs warnings

Recommended Posts

I have been stopped by local law enforcement three times in 8 years. All have been outside of Nebraska. The two times I was driving my car with all my Husker gear - license plate trim, Husker stickers and magnetic sticker - I got a ticket. The third time I was driving a car with no paraphanalia at all and got a warning.

Have any of you had similar experiences?

Last summer I was driving back to Oklahoma, from Kansas City, and got stopped in Kansas doing 85 in a 65. The cop comes up to my window and, of course, asks if I know how fast I was going. Then he says "So, you're a husker fan, huh?" I say yes. He says "I bet you get a lot of grief for that down in Oklahoma, don't you?" I say yes. He says, "Well, I'm going to run your license, and if it comes back clean, you're free to go." So he ran my license, and let me go.

He never came out and said he was a husker fan, but I'm guessing he must have been because I was going 20 over.

Was driving on Hwy 2 from Nebr City to Lincoln...kinda doing a bit over the limit! State trooper pulled me over and noticed I was in my (then) BDU's. Thanked me for my service and let me go without the 20 over ticket! I made sure to repay the favor when I pulled over any service memebers...
