huskerfan711
Don't have a link or anything concrete yet... But it was just announced on SportsCenter on ESPN that when Colorado and Utah join the PAC-10 that the conference would be renamed to the PAC-12 Wonder if the big 12 will consider a name change? Maybe UT and the 9 blind mice or something similar... haha :throwdabones1: :throwdabones1: Quote Link to comment

bleedNUred
Maybe the Big 12 will become the Texas 10. Quote Link to comment
GMoose
Maybe the Big 12 will become the Texas 10. Or DeLoss Dodds and the conference of misfit teams Quote Link to comment
ESPY
i guess the pac10 brand isn't as rock-solid as the big ten brand...and i'm just fine with that. Quote Link to comment
HuskersNow
This isn't a good idea. I think it's inevitable that there will eventually be 16 team super conferences which is going to force the PAC 10 to change its name once again. Quote Link to comment
Manhattan
The Big 12 will have to change its name, because the Big Ten isn't... And we can't well have the "Ten" have 12 and the "12" have 10. The Big 12 then cannot become the Big 10 because we already have the Big Ten. It will probably become the Placeholder Conference. As for the PAC-10, it is good that they are becoming the PAC-12, because in due time, they will become the PAC-16... Which will be easy to do since they would have had no attachment to the PAC-12. huKSer
One of the high schools I taught at was involved in forming a new conference. They had a contest to name it. Two rules: 1) No geography names and 2) No numbers. Unimaginatively "Cornhusker Conference" won. I wanted "Succotash Conference" (nothin' but (soy)beans and corn) Quote Link to comment
HuskerBruin
I still prefer "12-Pac" (not to be confused with 2-Pac). 1 Quote Link to comment

cHUSKERis
Why not change the Big 12 to the Big 10 and the Big 10 to the Big 12 to keep in line with the number of teams? Brand names aside, its not like people wont know who is who. Just be weird to have a conference with 10/12 teams called the Big 12/10. They wont, but just saying if the Pac-10 is doing it... I don't want my conference within 10 feet of that tainted name, it did nothing but screw everything up since it manifested. No thanks! I am not against a name change for the conference and am perfectly fine with keeping it the Big Ten. If they do rename I would hope they do not continue a numerical title (plan for the inevitable). cHUSKERis
Just wondering, the big conferences are... ACC SEC Big 12 Big 10 Big East Pac-10 Cant think of anymore off the top of my head. Thats 3 with "Big" in their names. Big 10 could become the Northeastern Conference (not sure if there is one already) Big 12 could become the Central State Conference, just throwing out ideas lol. If they do insist on using numbers, make sure another conference doesn't share the first part of you name... the Pac-10(12) can add any number of teams. Quote Link to comment
