WashingtonGuru
Hey Husker fans. I just finished a fairly comprehensive season preview for the Washington Huskies and thought you may want to check it out to get a feel for how the Dawgs shape up going into the match-up. It should be a tremendous atmosphere for that game, especially if both teams can get to it unscathed. Hopefully some of you will be making it out to Seattle for the game! If you're interested in other Pac 10 teams, feel free to check out some of the other previews that are being posted as well. Enjoy! Thanks, Tim (AKA the Washington Guru) pac10guru.blogspot.com Quote Link to comment

" At first I thought that Bill from Lincoln was back. Quote Link to comment

knapplc
Guru, how do you see your O Line holding up against our rush? We have a couple of guys (Crick and Allen) who have demonstrated the ability to wreak havoc in the offensive backfield. Quote Link to comment
WashingtonGuru
Guru, how do you see your O Line holding up against our rush? We have a couple of guys (Crick and Allen) who have demonstrated the ability to wreak havoc in the offensive backfield. Assuming that those guys would be coming off the edge, confidence would be fairly high that they could at least be slowed down. As I mentioned, the LT Kelemete is a stud that the coaching staff can't stop raving about. The hope would be that he can neutralize the rush without help. On the right side, Habben isn't quite at that level, but a more important factor might be the blocking ability of TE Chris Izbicki who'll be asked to chip and support the line when facing a big time pass rush. Up the middle could be a different story since there has been some shuffling at the guard and center positions, but if everyone is settled in by the third game, it should be a solid, but not necessarily spectacular group. Of course, that Locker guy playing quarterback is pretty good when it comes to escaping the rush and making plays out of the pocket. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
Crick is a DT. Our ends are Allen and most likely Cam "The Stache" Meredith. Our other DT is most likely going to be Steinkuhler, a five-star recruit likely to see his first starting action this year. We have a lot of confidence in our backups as well; across the line they'll be: Williams, Moore, Randle and Ankrah. Ankrah is a beast of a DE who could take the starting spot from The Stache, but we'll have to see. Your line will have to be not only talented but deep, because we'll go four quarters strong. GMoose
A good preview. Washington will have their work cut out for them with that schedule. The only reason to curb the excitement slightly would be to consider that going from god awful to mediocre is one thing, going from mediocre to good or even great is another. Of course at this point if I had to pick any team to do it it would be U dub. Just curious Guru, you have Washington bowl bound, which 6 games (or more) do you have them winning? Looking at the schedule, I see the very winnable games as BYU, Syracuse, Arizona State, UCLA, Cal and Washington State. Oregon State could be a possibility since it's at home and 'Zona is right in that mix as well. That is 8 potential wins right there. The remaining 4 are Stanford (I'm higher on them than others), @ USC (they'll be looking for revenge, could be a real toughy) @ Oregon (not the most realistic bet to call a win) and the Blackshirts (even if I believed it I would project victory here; I'm outnumbered..haha). Putting all optimism aside, something in the 7-5 or 8-4 range seems about right. If things go really well, maybe winning 1 or 2 in that last group of 4 pushes it up to the 9 or 10 win range, which is where the Alamo Bowl/Holiday Bowl talk comes in. Quote Link to comment

You know you guys are gonna have to play against our offense and special teams as well? FYI, our defense is called the Blackshirts, not our entire team. You just lost a lot of credibility there, sorry. Quote Link to comment

The question I had received was specific to the match-up of the Nebraska defense versus the Washington offense so that stuck in my mind for the thread. Good catch, though. I don't want to come over here and sound like a foreigner, at least not anymore than I already have. Quote Link to comment
papersun87
It should be a tremendous atmosphere for that game, especially if both teams can get to it unscathed. Seeing as how our opponents before that are Western Kentucky and Idaho, hopefully this won't be much of an issue. Quote Link to comment

I didn't take it as you calling our team the Blackshirts, I figured you knew what you were talking about. Happy you know our D's nickname. It should be a very good game. I am hoping Coach Bo can find a way to neutralize Locker's scrambling (Bo notices things like that on tape) and that we can come away with a win. I think the Huskies will climb out of the hole they've been in for a while and do some great things this year. Just hope it isn't against the Huskers . Quote Link to comment
