Oh Tea Partiers. What's next for you?

Recommended Posts

Hmmm. You know enough about communism to attribute it to liberals but you don't actually know what is in the Communist Manifesto?

Oh, this gets better and better.

Sorry, I'm a moderate, I really don't care much for communism, at least from what I have seen of it in my lifetime. I don't have to read the "Manifesto" cover to cover to see the atrocities that have been committed in the former USSR and Eastern Bloc, Cuba, Venezuela, China, or some of the other Asian communist countries. And yes, I can easily see the similarities of some of those countries/regimes and much of the mainstream left-wing of the USA, led by Obama.

I really don't care for communism either. However, I also don't care much for McCarthyism V.2.

What exactly are the similarities between Obama and the USSR, Cuba, Venezuela, China, and Asian communist countries? Consider my interest piqued.

Ahh, Wordsmith, I never said that Obama = the USSR, etc.

But, if you want a list of some of the ideals of the US left that remind me of or are rooted in socialist/communist ideals:

"Fairness Doctrine"

"Stimulus Packages"

Obamacare

Gov't takeover of major car companies

Oppressive taxes (allowing Bush tax cuts to expire)

Fannie May/Freddy Mac (the main component of our current recession).

My ex-girlfriend is a mainstream hard-core left winger, Obama supporter, and very active in the community. One time she mentioned to me that "Socialism is good." In another discussion about healthcare with my aunt's husband (another mainstream lefty/Obama supporter) told me "Bring on socialism, I want it." Both of them are highly educated (both graduated from UNL, what's in the water down there), seemingly intelligent normal people who support socialist ideals, and they are far from radical.

Same question to you, what things are being done, on the right, that make it McCarthy all over again?

Define fringe right winger, or for that matter, fringe left winger. Is someone who wants the Fed Gov to spend with in its limits, and keep them out of the day to day lives of the people a "Fringe Right winger". Conversly, is someone who wants National Health care, and more taxes and regulations on business/industry in general the fringe of the Left? GWB was called a right wing nut, but he over spent, passed socialized Rx coverage for seniors, and lowered taxes. Mean while Clinton, who has been called left wing, announced the end of big governemnt, raised taxes, and balanced the budget (granted most of these things had influences from the opposite party, but as in most things the Prez gets the credit/blame). It has gotten to the point where one side has to defile the other, in order to keep or regain power. With GWB he was a right wing fascist, really, well what does that make the Tea Party.

Ahh, where to begin.

You compared those countries to the "mainstream left-wing, led by Obama."

1. Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac. Implemented by the 1968 Congress. Obama was 7 years old at the time. The collapse happened under the watchful eyes of a certain Republican president.

2. "Fairness Doctrine." Implemented in 1949. 12 years before Obama's birth. Revoked in 1987. Obama has said that he has "no intention of reimposing the doctrine."

3. Stimulus Packages. Would you be referring to George W. Bush's stimulus packages or Barack Obama's stimulus packages?

4. "Obamacare." Would this be the same bill that will reduce the Federal deficit by $143 billion dollars?

5. Government takeover of car companies. This was a no win situation. I've assisted in my share of bankruptcies and it certainly looks like taking over and restructuring the companies was the right decision. I can't imagine the mess if they would have filed for bankruptcy. Yikes.

6. Oppressive taxes. I'm sorry . . . I can't help but laugh at this one. Bush set these tax cuts to expire (also note how well they've stimulated the economy . . . oh they didn't? Sorry.) but somehow Obama not stopping the Bush set expiration is the left's fault. Got it.

What else do you have?

(As long as we're tossing in anecdotal evidence about crazies, my fiance's aunt is vehemently opposed to all aspects of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. In fact . . . she almost reacts violently when it's mentioned. However, she also has a bit of a health problem and can't get any insurance companies to accept her. She complains constantly that they shouldn't be able to deny her based on her health condition. She sees no contradiction in those two complaints.)

1. Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac. Implemented by the 1968 Congress. Obama was 7 years old at the time. The collapse happened under the watchful eyes of a certain Republican president. Bush had people question the stability of Fannie/ Freddie and was shot down, more than once, by Barney Frank.

2. "Fairness Doctrine." Implemented in 1949. 12 years before Obama's birth. Revoked in 1987. Obama has said that he has "no intention of reimposing the doctrine." Other dems want it back, and were willing to try, although I think the political hay on this is dead

3. Stimulus Packages. Would you be referring to George W. Bush's stimulus packages or Barack Obama's stimulus packages? TARP was a loan package, billions of which have been paid back. Total cost to the tax payers is estimated to be 105 billion, out of 800+. Stimulus is somewhere around a trillion, zero of which will be paid back.

4. "Obamacare." Would this be the same bill that will reduce the Federal deficit by $143 billion dollars? This takes into account many assumptions that the CBO has to use, like cutting Medicare, if it is true great, but for now I will not hold my breath, history is on my side with this not working out, Medicare was supposed to only cost 90 billion a year.

5. Government takeover of car companies. This was a no win situation. I've assisted in my share of bankruptcies and it certainly looks like taking over and restructuring the companies was the right decision. I can't imagine the mess if they would have filed for bankruptcy. Yikes. GM? Umm. They did. After we pumped 40 billion into them to stop it, they still did, or did you mean Chrysler? Oh they did too.

Got it. Yes, let taxes go up during a recession, we have had little forward movement from the stimulus, so lets take money out of peoples pockets.

I answered some stuff inside the quote, I thought it would be easier to see than it is. I wont be doing that again.

1. So you're saying Bush didn't fix anything? Noted.

2. Seems a little vague, doesn't it? You're basically saying "They want it but they can't do it." Prove it.

3. Effect of the stimulus is zero? Really? I guess the million+ jobs are worthless. Damn.

4. So you're saying there is a chance?

5. And the companies were restructured before the bankruptcy BY the government . . . and they are probably going to earn taxpayers billions in profits. Again, what a terrible idea. oops.

6. Right. The tax cuts worked so well the first time. Sorry. Taxing the highest earners at a higher rate has a minimal, at WORST, effect on the economy. Bush's tax cuts generate roughly $.32 per $1 in cuts. Governmental stimulus spending consistently returns more than $1 in growth per $1 spent. see here. (Keep in mind that this is from someone who will be taxed at one of the highest rates, no thanks to me, blame the fiance for the impressive salary.)

Bush did more than anyone else... No one else even talked about it, except for Barney Frank, who said everything was fine.

Prove it, ok. The will to pass it is all but gone, like I said.

8%. Remember that, unemployment was to never pass that, and millions of jobs... Well it depends on who you ask, and how you look at it.

Nope no chance

I thought you said they didn't go bankrupt... The business model hasn't changed. I hope you are willing to bail them out again in 10 years, I'm not.

I forgot money in the hands of the government is better than in the hands of its people. I am glad you like paying your taxes, I don't, and I also know a few business owners that are really pissed about theirs going up.

This thing is so off course, I really dont know what you are trying to argue. Go Liberal I dont care, if your political beliefs are so flimsy as to be pushed from moderate to Liberal by one act, or movement so be it.

Here are a few last things.

Listen to the video again. Who is saying "no, no, no"? Is it a Rand supporter? I dont know, but that would blow your idea that the Tea Party a bunch of violence accepting thugs.

Has a dem staffer done something like it? Yes.

Lastly, a Dem said this the other day:

“If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, ‘We're gonna punish our enemies and we're gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us,’ if they don't see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it's gonna be harder and that's why I think it's so important that people focus on voting on November 2,”

What enemies do Latinos have in this country, and how should they be punished? Great way to live up to being the one who will unite us all.
