Spartness
There is about as much hate between John Cook and Penn State's coach as there is with he Washington's coach. This perhaps will end up being the biggest Big 10 rivalry in volleyball. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
There will be plenty of huge rivalries in the Big 10. Penn State is just one of them. We'll also face tough competition from Minnesota, Michigan and Illinois. Michigan State puts together decent teams every few years, too. Overall this will be a tougher conference than the Big 12, where Penn State will step into the role of major rival that Texas held, while Illinois, Minnesota and Michigan really have no perennial peers in the Big 12 (with the exception recently of Iowa State). Spartness
You are right that there will be other rivalries, and I will scale back a little ... but there is a history of bad blood between those two coaches that "MAY" make Penn State NU's biggest rival of all in the Big 10. krill
Yeah this is going to be a good one. Not sure how much VB the BTN airs but it could be a great tool to increase the popularity of the sport and add fuel to these rivalries. Already just about as hard to get VB tickets as football... NUance
There's a lot of good volleyball in the Big 10. Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota all have great teams. But Penn St is the top program in the Big 10. Until next year, that is. GBR! Quote Link to comment

Maybe I didn't word my other post correctly. Definitely I think you're right that Penn State will be the biggest rival. We've had some epic matches, including a match back in the early 90s when PSU came to Lincoln undefeated and we bounced them from the Regional. That was the infamous four-hit game, where the crowd starting counting all of Penn State's hits for the officials. There was dust falling from the rafters, the Coliseum was so loud. Incredible night.
