huskerinacaveman
Granted TO inherited a better team then Bo did, and granted TO pretty much ranked in the 10 his whole career, he still only won his 3 NC's in his final 4 years. Does our new AD give Bo that long if he were to routinely end the year ranked? Would Bo even get booted for going 10 or 15 years without winning one? I would like to think no, but with the way the coaching landscape is I just don't see a coach sticking around for 10 years without winning NC's. Nebraska is kind of a different place though. What do you guys think? Quote Link to comment
HuskerShark
If he goes 10 or 15 years without winning a championship of some sort, his seat will be pretty damn hot and people will be looking for any excuse to get him out. Fortunately for Bo and the Nebraska football program, we won't have to worry about that because Bo will win his first conference title this December. Quote Link to comment
Comish
If BO is consistently putting us in position to COMPETE for championships, they won't fire him if they don't win one.........jmo..... Quote Link to comment
huskerinacaveman
So what was Solich? Ranks right behind TO in win percentage, and they fired him after 3 decent seasons. You might be able to say that you could see that he wasn't going to be an effective coach, but most of us will chalk it up to the two unmentionables. Quote Link to comment
IllinoisHuskerFan
I'm curious if Bo will get an extension under TO if they make it the Rose Bowl or better. Big 10 Championchip is Dec 3 I believe? He dosent resign until Jan 1. Maybe...maybe not? Quote Link to comment
gin_32
Today is very different when Tom Osborne was head coach. The social media is so vast and quick with anything to do with anything these days. It took TO a long time to win a national championship and if there was twitter or facebook back then, he probably would have seen the door out.....but what he did in his last years was amazing and the record speaks for itself. Bo has to deal with everyone in his business because of more access to social media. This doesn't mean he isn't as a good coach as TO but just another obstacle that he has to endure. I believe that Bo's future is basicaly in his realm of desire. Recuit heavy in Cali, Tex, Florida, Win games that he should. Stop the shortcomings. Tom did it without the social media.....Bo has it now, but it's a double edge sword Quote Link to comment
