Ratt Mhule
Terry Joseph, Rich Fisher, Ron Brown are safe. Ross Els, how hard is it to coach special teams? Our special teams has been atrocious this season! I think Beck and Kaczenski (give him at least one more year) should be safe too IMO. D-line is our biggest problem. They are possibly worse than last year if that is even possible. If Eric Martin wasn't playing, it would be even uglier. I don't think Kaz could be considered safe. but like Zoogies said, there won't be any changes... Its pathetic that a coach two years removed from the high school ranks has been one of the best on our staff. Quote Link to comment

I think Beck is 100% clear, as the offense really doesn't have any issues, except for turning the ball over, but we are scoring, and scoring big, which is all that matters. And so should Papuchis and Garrison. That leaves Cotton, and Els. Really I don't see any in-season staff changes in the offing. I completely agree with you zoogies, Papuchis, Garrison and Coach K deserves more than just a season to work with. Each are new and trying to find a system that works well with the kids, other coaches and Pelini. This year is a test & trial year for our defense. Papuchis has the passion and desire to make the defense better, which is what we need. The biggest difference between where we are now, compared to last year, is the coaching changes. New coaches here and there, with others being promoted. This doesn't help for recruiting, but I see each of those guys making recruiting better for NU, expecially Terry Joseph and Coach Kaz. They both are highly respected in their professions, and will bring what we need. This is Ross Els 2nd year at LB coach, and he has brought in some great talent and continues to, so firing him would be a huge set back in my opinion. We have talented LB's right now, and are red shirted or injured. Brown, Afalava, Anderson and Santos, and he is recruiting some other great LB's (IE: Bandares & Newbie). We were all sceptic about Beck last year, and I was one who saw the little things he was trying and figured we should give him another year, and look at the offense. Best we have had in a very long time, and the most depth we have ever had, in my opinion. Quote Link to comment
tschu
Al Groh was consistently atrocious for a number of years though. That situation is nowhere close to ours. Quote Link to comment
