Beer and Basketball?

Why do Americans think they need to eat or drink something at every single event they go to?

I know why the program or facility wants to sell food and drink. It's a huge money maker for them.

However, It is like people are just preconditioned to think that they need to be stuffing something in their face if they are sitting in a crowd watching something. I got to thinking about this a few years ago and more and more I find myself not buying anything at games.

Meanwhile, the guy that comes in late always has a gallon cup of pop and nachos and pizza when he stumbles to his seat after the game starts....then gets more when that's gone.
