BigRedBuster
LINK Why have so many people left the labor force? The labor force participation rate has become one of the most-watched statistics in the US job market, and with good reason. The rate measures the share of all working-age Americans who are in the labor force — that is, either working or looking for work. That provides some important context to the unemployment rate, which makes bigger headlines. That rate only measures the share of the labor force that can't find a job but is actively looking. LINK What Obama Ignored About The 'Lowest Unemployment Rate In Over 5 Years' President Barack Obama took pride in presiding over the nation's "lowest unemployment rate in over five years" during his State of the Union address on Tuesday. But while this statement is true -- the jobless rate dropped to 6.7 percent in December -- it's not exactly something to write home about. Link to comment
TGHusker
It appears Wall Street likes the results but Main Street is having to settle for few jobs overall and lower paying jobs. Labor participation rate is dismal while food stamp/disabilities rates have increased Link to comment
