NUance
Ex-Michigan TE says Jim Harbaugh asked fifth-year seniors to 'try out' By Sam Cooper 47 minutes ago Dr. Saturday In an interview with the Columbus Dispatch this week, Heitzman said every fifth-year player would have to audition for a spot on the team during spring practice. “Obviously, Harbaugh coming in was going to change things at Michigan – do things his way,” Heitzman said. “But I didn’t know if I wanted to try out. That definitely took me off-guard. I was bummed out.” LINK I'm not sure how I feel about that. I mean, the guy was on scholie for four years and earned his degree. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
I don't have a problem with it at all. It doesn't get written about, but non-contributing 5th year guys get asked to shake a hand and walk away all the time. The university's promise that needs to be upheld is 4 years of all-expenses paid in order to get a degree. Anything past that is bonus, and it's better to give guys a chance to show something than to just decide they're dead weight and move on. Quote Link to comment
