Geeboo07
Thank you Depressed Husker for this topic. I post maybe once a year and started a post last year on the same topic about Nebraska’s poor strength program. I was ridiculed by other posters that said to “cue the Rocky movie motif” and how stupid old school powerlifting is in today’s day and age. Well, here we are with our offensive lineman getting blown up again and again 1 year later. Go figure. Quote Link to comment
HuskerPowerVA
One more thing. Nutrition is so important. Especially one designed for the specific individual, not even sport or position. But to keep it simple, too many kids have poor knowledge of nutritional needs it is alarming. Is the university helping? Coaches look at scales. They are prone to say a kid who is 6'4 has to be 315. Oh he can quickly get to 315, but is it a "good" 315? The steroid argument I can write a book on it but will not bore you. Bottom line is you can't and you shouldn't, but any well designed program will work without them as long as you understand the recovery process and volume are very different. Geeboo07
You are absolutely correct and come across as very knowledgeable. I am a retired power lifter and I have seen first hand how a simple and effective program of squats, deadlifts, and benching along with maintaining flexibility can create strong physiques that have the power behind them. Our lineman to not pass the eye test when it comes to these 2 things. Something is not right. 1 Quote Link to comment

I am finally having to tone down the really heavy stuff (at least in bench) after 35 years of load. Quote Link to comment

I.M. OLD
Possibly the O line trains with Cav, and the DLine trains with Parella. Stoltz and the twins sure found the gym as well as Freedom along with several other defensive players Quote Link to comment
