BECK says yes to NU

This is SO kick ass!!

Heres the article I found

6-1, 200 pound QB Harrison Beck of Clearwater, FL, has become the highest ranked pure passer to ever commit to Nebraska. He becomes the second commitment for the 2005 recruiting class. Nick Covey, an outside LB from Glendale, AZ, became the first last week. Beck turned down 20 other major colleges including Florida, FSU, Miami, North Carolina State, Maryland, Michigan and Purdue. He threw for 2,300 yards and 21 TD's last season as a junior. Beck said coach Callahan, "was going crazy...I don't know exactly what he said because he was talking a million miles per hour," when he told coach of his decision to come to NU. Beck said that he understood that NU will not recruit another QB for 2005 now that they have his commitment, "I was Nebraska's number 1 guy from the start...coach Callahan and I made a commitment to each other from the start."

Excellent point. That's the kind of head-to-head recruiting win that influences others. Recruits keep up with who's at or neat the top of the list by position. And when they see someone shun a Florida State for a Nebraska, it immediately gives then cause to wonder why, and to investigate - which gives NU an opening it may not have had otherwise.

Yessir. Very nice land, and good points about attracting attention of other high profile guys. Thats how the fab 5 started..

But lets not forget about a stud by the name of big Murtha that made an early committment....... then again I dont see us flipping up like those jackasses did by taking him to the "gopher hole" or whatever that pornshack was called.

Beck will also be in Lincoln next week...june 20-23, taking part in the brand new QB Academy. I think its the third time he'll be here all ready.

I have a friend who is taking part in that camp as a coach. I'll get some feedback.

In other recruiting news. Nebraska is still listed #3 for the kid from Louisana. Perioux or something. He still has interested in NU. Also Sanchez from So Cal. has NU in the top 3.

One thing I want to ask all of you is how Beck has come out and made damn sure that everyone knows Callahan will no longer go after any more QB's. Somethings fishy. Because I highly doubt if Perioux were to commit to NU-Callahan's not going to turn him down. But it just seems odd that Beck, in every article I have read has made sure he makes the comimit that "He's the only QB that will be recruited."

"I do my best work when I drop back," Beck said. "I throw first, throw second and throw third. But I'll tell you this, when I get out of the pocket I can still get it done."

Coach Callahan later announced that Beck prospective jersey number would be 19; Beck's ego would probably be assigned the number 21.

kidding aside, this kid sounds like he's fulla moxie: i like it.
