  1. That & the tackling in space has been a bit sloppy.
  2. Linebacking corps is decimated. On top of that Klien got injured in 2nd half, too.
  3. The D phoned it in the last 2 minutes w/sloppy tackling & dumb penalties. Hats off to IU for playing hard & never quitting. Hopefully this serves as a wake-up call for the Bucks D. You guys would've scored more had Burkhead not gotten hurt, too.
  4. Tell me about it. One of the Cleveland sports radio hosts just re-tweeted "Tressel is wondering how Urban managed 21 field goals kicked in a game." As critical as I've been of Miller for his inconcictent passing I've gotta take my hat off to him. Hyde stepped it up big-time, too.
  5. I had to chuckle at this - it seems you think the same way I do. For the record, I would've taken a knee, too. Esp. w/starters in.
  6. Fine. I'll be sure to clear any further sources cited with the board before posting. But would like to know what major points in that months old article aren't still valid now. I also stand by all of my points in both previous posts. If you disagree, fine, but I expect you to back up your position.
  7. I was confirming a fact that I was pretty sure I knew & it happend to be the googled link that I clicked on., It also echoed much of what I've been hearing from multiple media, local & national. I'm not familiar w/the site & don't give a rat's @$$ about it. If you don't like that source, here are some others: http://www.foxsportsflorida.com/05/30/11/Meyer-would-have-hard-time-turning-down-/landing_gators.html?blockID=529492 http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/23300/it-will-be-hard-for-meyer-to-say-no-to-osu I'm not familiar w/these writers either, but if you don't like them, please feel free to cite your own sources contradicting my position. Yeah, I know, it take a bit more effort than to just sit back & mock someone, especially someone who doesn't have much time in his day to sit around & scan sports reports & hang out on forums. By the way, you didn't bother to offer any counter arguments to any of my other points, either.
  8. I agree that the question of "which Urban Meyer" TOSU will get is a bit of a concern. Will this be a 3-4 year committment, or 7+? I tend to thing that it will be the latter for reasons given here http://bleacherreport.com/articles/717115-jim-tressel-resigns-why-urban-meyer-cant-resist-ohio-state-head-coaching-job, barring a return/resurgence of medical issues. That having been said, sometimes the problem with a dream job, just like with a dream house or dream car, is that one can view it through rose colored glasses until one actually has it IMHO this is much less likely, though possible. Even if Meyer were to leave TOSU after a few years I still think that hiring him at this time is the right move, especially in light of pending NCAA sanctions. The self-imposed scholarship reduction makes quality over quantity in recruiting even more critical. Hiring a big name coach NOW with a proven track record makes the Buckeyes instantly relevant because it puts/keeps the program at or near the top of many top tier recruits lists that otherwise would have looked towards programs ready to win right away. This would likely not be the case if TOSU hired a coach that has yet to prove himself at the top level, as they did with Tressel. If Meyer were to bolt after a few years NCAA sanctions likely will be a non-issue and replacing him with a big-name coach is much less of an issue with respect to the health of the program.
  9. Makes me wonder what all the turf science majors moved on to after they put that stuff in. I prefer the real stuff, though the newer synthetic turfs do make the game easier on you once your knees are shot....
  10. Cool, yes, though it's the field at the baseball stadium, not the 'Shoe. http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/m-basebl/spec-rel/110311aaa.html
  11. Saw that to. Wonder if it can be an lod crappy string that no longer works. Home Depot did something last year where you could trade in any POS light strands & get $3 off an LED light set. It was supposedly maximum 5 strands, but the self-scanner let me do 8.
  12. Northwestern's definitely a team that has a habit of playing spoiler to someone in the conference at least once a year. A classic trap team that's got more talent than you think when they put their minds to it. Hopefully your O can get rolling like vs. tOSU. And maybe their QB can get hurt, like vs. tOSU.
  13. You've gotta watch out for Northwestern. Definitely a potential trap game; there's a reason they make a run at the conference championship every decade or so. I can tell you from experience as a Buckeye fan they're definitely a team that can bite you if you let them hang around too long.
  14. The irony is that while the Big XII destroyed the OU rivalry, in the B1G you could rekindle it with an annual non-conference game if y'all really wanted to.
  15. To touch on Badgerfan's point, how are the rest of the "available" Big 12 schools academically? As the conference, IIRC, is also an academic alliance, I'd hate to see us add a substandard school academically just for a partner to ND. Though, as I've said for awhile (including on this board), There's no way ND comes here unless the Big East falls apart as a conference (not just football), and it seems that such an event might just be happening.
  16. I've got DirecTV Total Choice Plus (the, like, 180 channel option or whatever) & it's included, though I'm in east central Ohio. Not sure if the package varies by region. Was looking at switching to Dish for $ reasons - you're probably better off buying BTN a la carte on dish unless there's other channels you want.
  17. If only he hadn't gotten hurt a couple weeks ago.... Still, he has grown quite a bit this October. It's a young offense and, while not much to look at on the surface, have given me reason to anticipate what lies ahead. As long as he doesn't commemorate the big win with a tattoo....
  18. Glad you're enjoying things. I still believe that we've fared best of any conference in the recent unrest and have picked wisely with respect to our membership. Your style of football is a good fit, and hopefully we continue to grow on each other. You guys haven't had any trouble getting the Big Ten Network, have you?
  19. Though these are better than the last 2 (during MI games '09, '10), I agree w/what one of the players said of the uniforms after the '09 game - retire them undefeated.
  20. Like I said, the game's yours once Bauserman's in. He's 100% INCOMPETENT as a major college QB. And Fickel's incompetent for letting him throw when they've been pounding the ball on the ground all night.
  21. Don't worry, if they're letting Bauserman throw the ball you've got this one in the bag.
  22. Texas will only join a conference if they're allowed to keep their Longhorn Network deal, which pretty much rules out the B1G. Louisville, Cincy & Pitt are also intriguing for both football & baketball, though don't know much about their academics, which is something the B1G at least likes to pay lip service to. As I mentioned before, we would only get ND if the Big East implodes (which it may very well). Regardless, I hope the B1G emphasizes quality over quantity & is appropriately chosey. From the scuttlebutt it sounds like interesting times may be ahead....
  23. They'd be a great fit, but ND is only joining the B1G if the Big East implodes. They've got no problem staying independent in football as long as they've got a great place to play basketball. That & as long as NBC is willing to pay them big $ to televise their games.
  24. First off, I would like to wish a warm welcome from the great state of Ohio to all of my new Big Ten brothers. May you have a fun and successful (but not too successful) first year in the conference. While I am not uber familiar with the details of the USC/Bush/Mayo situation, I will do my best with the limited knowledge that I have. While visiting my folks up in Michigan over Memorial Day weekend there was an article in the sports section of the Detroit Free Press basically telling UM and MSU fans to not get giddy re: OSU on the heels of the USC decision because OSU was cooperating fully with the NCAA investigation, where as USC did not. Take that for what you will, but I was surprised to find that position taken from a columnist of a "hostile" paper. Furthermore, The OSU case did not involve any players or staff having illegal contact with alumni, boosters or agents. (Nor, for that matter, were any issues with drugs, crime or academic integrity.) The NCAA found no significant evidence to support that anyone in the university, save Tressel, had prior knowledge of wrongdoing w/respect to the tattoos & memorabilia. He's now gone, and the school has self-imposed a vacation of the 2010 season and 2 years probation. While the NCAA has not made a ruling w/respect to final penalties, I can understand that it's hard to penalize the program & university as a whole when there was no widespread cover-up. With respect to the alleged car scandal, the NCAA apparently didn't find anything substantial enough to back up those allegations, either. Not totally surprising, as the Bureau of Motor Vehicles inquiry found that of all the alleged "deals" players got, only one car was sold at a loss to the dealer, and that was one that had been on the lot for over 150 days. Therefore, selling at a loss would not be unexpected. In short, the NCAA found only a single violation by the coach that did not involve a broader cover-up. With respect to the players' infractions (which are a separate issue from Tressel's) there were no boosters, agents, etc. associated with those "benefits" and any compensation the players received was comparable to the market value of the items (i.e. a booster didn't pay $40k for a ring). Hope I didn't ramble too much & made some bit of sense. Been a long day over here, & I'm heading to bed.
