  1. Why do we need a super speedy QB anyway? With our backs and receivers, we just need a QB that can execute, make good decisions, minimize turnovers, and can keep the team inspired the whole game. We don't need a home run hitter QB on the ground. Just needs to be man enough to step up in the pocket, elusive enough to avoid sacks, ability to keep the play alive to grab yards (3-10) when a play breaks down, smart enough to throw the ball away, and also talented enough to run read/option play. Just enough to give a defense fits. We don't need a big play all the time. We just need to take the yards the defense gives us and fight for a few extra. Each and every play.
  2. If we are who we thought we are and we aren't as good as we thought then we...My brain hurts... From this post to many others the problem isn't the team but our own expectations of the team. If we expected mediocre then we would be performing as expected. I think you meant we were hoping to be good but now are realizing that we still have some major problems. Which makes this whole season unpredictable. Gonna be fun to watch this play out. My hope is just to end ranked. We have a couple of actual quarterbacks in the pipeline and had a better recruiting class this year on D. If we pull in yet another decent recruiting class to fill in those weak spots (oline, dline) we could be set for a good run. If we still pull this crap we are now...even I may even bite the bullet and say it's time for a change.
  3. No lie. Questions designed for a predetermined outcome. Really, 2/3 think we will mias a bowl bid before playing in a CCG? Really? sh#t, I'm not happy with this season already but I still think we have a legitimate shot at the ccg this year. And the "top" college program question. Could I please get a definition on "top" and some sort of timeline? Since 2001? No. Of the last 20-30-40-50 years? Yep. f'ing smear job is all this poll is. I got the same feeling when I read the questions. I mean it is a complete smear campaign.
  4. Born, raised, and still live in the great state of Nebraska. Over the last 13 years the way the fans and media have been treating my beloved Husker players... I'm with Bo... F'yall. Greatest fans my arse. You may treat other teams and fans well but you have been treating your own team, coaches, and players like dirt. For what? So if the team wins YOU can have an ego boost and a tingly feeling up your skirt? Or YOU don't have to have that bad feeling when those who are on the field loose? Or are you so darned concerned about what everyone else thinks about YOUR choice of team? Seriously, I want to know.
  5. Disagree all you want. In the aftermath of that loss, people wanted Osborne fired, they were down on the program, and this state was in a funk for a year. People will forget about this loss soon enough. It's just another of many for Pelini. But that 1983 loss stuck with people for a long time. It was different. People aren't going to forget about this loss soon. You don't get humiliated like that in a conference championship game and forget about it. I'm not saying this is the worst loss ever, but it is really, really bad. I think this loss was really hard for us because we had some hope that things were changing and improving. Things were finally falling our way. We had a chance to be champions again and it has been a long time. We have been so close in the last 10 years but seems just a bit out of our grasp. A loss is a loss sure, but a blowout really is disheartening in that we were never close in the game. Yet another year goes by and another wait until next year. We do have the bowl game but this loss makes it seem a bit meh leaving us just hoping we make a somewhat decent showing.
  6. I learned that the winning team found something that worked and was willing to STICK WITH IT until it was stopped. It never was stopped and they kept doing it until the game was over.
  7. Nope, just this one time. I allowed this conversation to go on so people would have a chance to get educated. This is typically not a thread you want to mess around in, and I would caution everyone not to take liberties with these threads. Fair warning. Yeah because if you mess around with the Husker Prayer, Knapp will have you do a thousand hail varsity's and like 500 Alma Mater songs! While running the South Stadium steps. Plus: 12 packs of bud 11 Huskers' tickets 10 a copinhagin 9 years probation 8 table dancers 7 packs of red men 6 packs of spam 5 flannel shirts 4 big mut tires 3 shotgun shells 2 huntin dogs And some parts to a mustang gt
  8. Huskers should have fired whoever the coach was. NU defence gave up some pretty big plays. Not to mention the poor throwing mechanics of the QBs. And those darned turnovers. Man...watching makes me miss the offence huddle. Watching them break the huddle and line up together as a unit knowing what they will do and how they will do it would be so intimidating. Also makes me miss how hard our defencive players hit. Not just one player but multiple blackshirts just drilling the ball carrier. They made anyone who touched the ball pay a price for it much like how a kid pays for disturbing a hornets nest. Even the solid hits on recievers trying to catch the ball or the ball just passed them would make anyone think twice to even wanna catch the darn thing let alone come near it. Those blackshirts knew how to stay at home, protect their territory, and attack like a rabid rottweiler protecting it's turf. Thanks for posting the video! Just got home from a crappy nights work and this just made my day.
  9. Thinking the same thing. Quite possibly keep Turner under the radar until bigger games with some offensive packages geared towards him. He is fast, he can cut, and he can get open.
  10. "Peter, please see me" About wet my pants. Man, I have to meet that Peter guy in a few of those examples.
  11. At first I thought you were crazy coming to the conclusion "I want to know - what else can possibly fall in place, AFTER you win the natl title?" Then I read what Tmart said again and particularly this: "If we accomplish the national championship, everything else will fall into place." then I can see why you did. The reason why I thought you were crazy was because I translated the quote into "Going for the national championship, everything else will fall into place." Meaning we play every game with a National Championship caliber we need not worry about a B1G championship. It will fall into place for us. Or you can say: Instead of making it a goal to win a conference we will set our goal higher. Doing so will drive us to push harder than we ever have in each and every game. With each successful play, quarter, half, and win will stack upon each other to strengthen the belief, faith, and confidence necessary to get to that NC game. I though to myself why my brain mixed up the "If we accomplish" with "Going for." Then I realized that the second quote, "Going for the national championship, everything else will fall into place", is actually the quote I first read in multiple publications. Actually, both quotes have been published in multiple publications. Here is an example from the BTN: http://bigtennetwork.stats.com/cfb/story.asp?i=20110829151418632863108 I am not sure which is correct.
