  1. Common sense is a rare commodity, Matt. Especially when a seemingly weaker Michigan team would be equally offset by a seemingly stronger Iowa team. You guys are reading way too much into my preference for this Michigan-Iowa game. I don't think rooting for Iowa, or Michigan, implies anything about our program or what people are willing to accept. In fact, what we want or who we root for means jack. If you feel Iowa winning is better for us, then that is your opinion and I have no problem with it. I just don't agree. Personally I have very little respect for the Iowa program and it is my belief that most rational people would feel a victory over a 1 loss top 10+/- Michigan, with Robinson, would be much more impressive than a win against a 3-6 loss Iowa team. I have little concern over what outcome may best help Nebraska get into the CCG for 2 reasons. 1-Like I stated earlier, our desires mean nothing in what will happen and 2-I see no reason we should not win our 4 remaining games. I think a win over a 1 loss Michigan may help our national ranking and reputation whereas a win over, by that time a 5 loss, Iowa will mean nothing to voters or SOS. If we screw up and lose a game, I may have to change my tune but I see no sense in a$$ covering until it is needed. One of our poorest and most embarrasing stats is our record against top 10/15 ranked teams. Why pull for an outcome that will eliminate another opportunity to shed that stigma. I am planning for the best outcome and you guys are jockeying for position in case the worst happens. I will never share that outlook and you can say it lacks common sense all you want. I want great things for the Huskers and you want safe things. Not to mention, if I'm not mistaken, if we lose just one game out of these last 4 and MSU wins out, they would go to the CCG anyways... Therefore rooting for Michigan to lose to Iowa makes no sense as it will have ZERO effect on the division race as long as MSU wins out, and their schedule is pretty easy the remainder of the season...
  2. Common sense is a rare commodity, Matt. Especially when a seemingly weaker Michigan team would be equally offset by a seemingly stronger Iowa team. That's just it though... Iowa has already blown their season with 2 pitiful losses to ISU and Minnesota. Everybody knows they suck, and a win vs Michigan will not make them look any better, but rather make Michigan look like crap too for losing to them... ugh...
  3. Here's my question: What do we have to do to get those sweet modern white helmets worn on gameday? Those are amazing!!!!!!!
  4. Yeah, NU football is all about beating one-loss teams, not two-loss teams! Grrrr! But no, TO wouldn't agree with this path-of-most-resistance nonsense, otherwise we'd never play another non-conference cupcake. TO has already turned down certain non-conference match-ups to keep our schedule reasonable. This is totally fine. Just about any team that's ever won a championship in a highly-competitive league will tell you there's some luck and good fortune involved. There has to be a good amount of realism. Hell, we'd barely even be in the Legends discussion right now if we had gotten OSU at full-strength for the entire game. We caught a break. Should we forfeit the win because we're Nebraska, and we want every accomplishment to be solely earned on our own talents? Thank you. Besides, how much PRIDE will some of you have when we are sitting at home, watching Michigan or MSU play for a CCG, while we have to hear "Welcome to teh Big 10!!111!!111!!1!1!!!!" from every Squawkeye fan you run across. For those of you whom are so self concious, I bet that would be so PRIDE ful. Whatever you say buddy. You obviously have your opinions, right or wrong, and it's obvious there's no convincing you, so I'll leave it at that. I'm just saying, as a team mentality, let's root for Michigan to beat Iowa so we can get the best Michigan team that we can when we go to Ann Arbor. If we lose, then we don't deserve to go to the CCG, plain and simple. Besides, if we were to lose to Michigan, Michigan State would likely go to the CCG in our division, so if you are going to root against anybody, root against MSU. so you can go ahead and try and insult me with your goofy face emoticons or whatever you're trying to do. Either way, if we would happen to lose and not make it to the CCG, if you can't deal with a couple of sarcastic comments from other teams, then maybe you should perform a self-humility check. I am going to college in Missouri where everybody hates Nebraska, and I get comments all the time like, "You guys couldn't win the Big 12, so you had to run to a weaker conference where you could win.." It's not hard to shrug them off because let's be honest: had Mizzou, ISU, KU, or KSU been extended an invite to the B1G, they would've jumped on it too. I know that's a little off topic, but it's the same concept... one which you apparently can't grasp...
  5. I think the biggest difference is obviously what most people have noticed: the style of play. Everybody in this conference plays smashmouth football, runs between the tackles, and dares you to stop it. Coincidentally, that causes a major challenge each and every week, one of the reasons that everybody has kind of beat each other in this conference this year and appears to have done so already this year. Like I said, it seems that it is more challenging week in and week out so far. These last 4 games are an example: NW and Iowa are both subpar teams, but they could potentially beat any team in the conference on any week. Needless to say, I'm pretty cautious of our remaining schedule. Hopefully we can just win out and control our own destiny to make it to Indy.
  6. Someday I will make it there, along with every other B1G stadium. I'm going through college at the moment, so needless to say, I'm a little short on funds... But visiting every B1G stadium for a Husker game is on my bucket list.
  7. Fonzo is the man! I will miss him so much next year. Hopefully the Lions draft him. If that happens, I will be the biggest Lions fan in the world!
  8. If he hits like his old man, I'll take it!
  9. Seriously though... If this is a joke, it's hilarious.
  10. I think you are missing the concept. Making it to the CCG because everybody else just lost too much so we get in by beating lesser opponents is similar to Boise State or someone in the Big LEast conference. You want to be a great program? Beat the best competition possible. And for this to be true, we want to play a 1-loss Michigan team when we head to the Big House in a couple weeks. If we win, we deserve to go to the CCG. If we lose, we don't deserve to go. That simple. As I said in an earlier post^, it's all about one word: PRIDE
  11. Thank you. Someone who gets it. Lord almighty!!!!!!!!!!! Respect be damned, just like we should hope that our non-divisional opponents beat our divisional opponents every game. I don't see why this is so difficult. Soooooo..... By this logic, we should have joined the Big East instead? Then we could win the conference every year because nobody else is any good. No! It's about pride, man! Beating good teams on their home turf is what defines great teams, and I would rather we be challenged. If we win vs. a 1-loss Michigan team, we deserve to make it to the CCG. If we don't win, then we don't deserve to win our division. PRIDE
  12. I really like Doc, I just hope everybody sticks with him because I do believe we will see the NCAA tourney at least once in the next 5-7 years with him as the coach. It is very hard to recruit good bball player to Neb, and that is probably why we have had so many foreign guys on our team. But with new facilities that have been built and are being built, we should see recruiting get a little bit better.
  13. With how well our O-Line has been playing, I don't think there is anything to complain about in that regard. Have faith in the coaching staff.
  14. He's just not flashy enough to win the heisman. This year, it looks like Trent Richardson along with the QBs. I think that Rex has a shot at entering the heisman race next year, but to win it, it takes one or two 200 yd games. I love the consistency that Rex brings to the team, and I wouldn't trade him for any other RB in the nation, I just don't see him getting super serious consideration for the heisman.
  15. What part of this do you guys not get? It's not like a Big Ten team is losing to an SEC, MAC, or a PAC team, its all IN CONFERENCE. What looks worse, beating a 5-2 Iowa team, or beating a 3-4 Iowa team? IT'S A FREAKING WASH PEOPLE!!! I'd personally rather go to Indy with a 6-2 conference record than be sitting at home with a 6-2 conference record, while a 6-2 Michigan or 6-2 MSU plays in Indy. This whole strength of schedule and "what looks better" means absolutely nothing. The SOS is determined (by and large) in your non-conference schedule, since in conference play the conference will have a .500 winning percentage. On top of that, the B1G gave us the top 3 teams from the other division, so, if Michigan or MSU (or both) lose another game, I'll take it. I understand what your saying 74Hunter but I'm with HuskerShark on this one. We control our own destiny and I wouldn't want it any other way. If we don't take care of business, then we don't deserve the CCG. I'm tired of being inconsequential and relying on others to boost us up. If we want it then we should take it. If not, then we can go to the whatever bowl with all the other losers that didn't do enough to earn their own way. If it isn't this year, then I am prepared to wait until it is. Therefore I want Michigan and all other B1G teams to win all of their games except when we play them. Nobody (poll voters not SOS computers) will give us any credit for beating Iowa but a higher ranked Michigan may get us a little more national attention. If we aren't good enough to do it then it also may save us embarrassment down the road. I don't want any charity or CCG's between 2 or 3 loss teams. The B1G needs an image makeover and we're just the team to help that out. I'm sick of being told how good the SEC is. No more top 20 BS, I'm talking top 5 or go home. Very well put, JJHusker1. Exactly my point. We are demanding as fans (as we should be) that the Huskers return to the greatness of winning championships. This means we mow over anyone in our path, and Iowa has already had some embarrassing losses, so I would rather have Michigan win so we face a 1-loss Michigan team, and if we beat them, it makes us look that much stronger. Personally, I think that Iowa loses to Michigan by at least 2 scores, probably 3.
  16. I don't think that Bo is going anywhere. He is a perfect fit for this state and this team, and I think he knows it. However, if he were to leave, my first vote as his replacement would be Gus Malzahn (sp?)
  17. Anybody have an idea what Huskerpedia's deal is? they are shut down over a law suit?...
  18. MICHIGAN! If you want to look stronger in your league, then it would be better to be atop your division because you beat them even though they are good than to win the division just because everybody else lost. I want a 1-loss Michigan team when we play them, and if we win, THEN we deserve to go to the CCG.
  19. I saw the 5-min preview of the program. Interesting stuff, though many of us have heard most of the stuff already...
  20. Isn't the reason we are not wearing them because it is against the rules? thought I heard something about them being illegal and we won't wear them until they are cleared by the NCAA... which will probably be never.
  21. Honestly, I disagree. If we win the B1G this year, all we will hear is "Oh, the big ten is just a weak conference..." I think we need to win a BCS bowl game in impressive fashion, possibly vs. an SEC team or Oregon/Stanford.
  22. I voted for Caveman just because I love his strength and his motor. The energy he brings to the team can do a lot.
  23. I think Boise wanted too much money or Nebraska wanted 2 games home and one away, and Boise wanted no part of it because they're apparently too good for that.
  24. I thought the helmets were pretty sweet, but the rest of the jersey was dull and looked like crap IMO. But the helmets? Sweet.
