  1. Thanks JTrain!! Mods...you can dump this one if you'd like.
  2. I'm not completely familiar with Huskerboard yet. Is there a special thread every week for score predictions? If some one could answer me right away, I'd be fine with this thread being dumped promptly thereafter.
  3. Thanks Funhusker...I know I was pumped, what ever it was...stops on 3rd and 1...several times...big hits on the QB..dropping backs for losses...I got loud in the hotel room down here in Ft Myers Fl!!!!
  4. Great games make great conferences eventually...should be interesting next Saturday for sure.
  5. I'm not one of your big x's and o's kind of fan, meaning I don't know the intricacies of a 2-gap, a 3-4 or 4-3 defense, etc. I did notice that tonight's defense was different. We were not lined up 2 yards off the line of scrimmage. Did we see a new slant on the defense, one that took a quarter or so to get into game speed shape? To me, it seems we dominated the defensive side of the game the second half. What happened. Did everyone just finally "get it"? Did we switch to a scheme that fits our players better? I'd love to be educated. (Let me save a few of you from responding by making this generic statement for you...."We should have dominated all game because Whisky sucks") Thoughts?
  6. This was a tongue in cheek comment...the way we were playing early on in this game it seemed even if we scheduled all patsies, we'd still lose three or more games. Tongue in cheek or not though, I fell apart when the team didn't. My bad for sure.
  7. I think I've got a solution to our woes. We go independent like Notre Dame. We schedule 11 patsies every year. We then go 8-3 every year, with a little luck...
  8. Well, you are seriously no fun then! You need some kool-aid my friend! (after the last several seasons, it is hard to get over the impending sense of doom...but give it a try). Your comment about a meltdown is spot on though. I won't even come on here for a few days if we lose...don't need that negativity and aggravation...it's worse than the loss itself it seems.
  9. I think we kill them through running back by committee...would love to see two 100 yard backs tomorrow with the other two getting significant yards as well. Fresh legs all day long.
  10. So....could you provide a little more detail, like what will our third play of the second drive in the 4th quarter be.. LOL...I love the way you are thinking..especially the Gilbert stare down..that would come very close to the vision I still cherish of a totally stupified Steve Spurrier on the sidelines of that a$$whipping. Although, Martinez staring him down while speeding by him on a break away run, after juking him would be sweet too. I'm going kind of the other way....we play to a lead in the first half. We actually make some good adjustments at halftime and that, along with wearing them down with our rotating fleet of backs, allows us to bring the wood most of the second half. NU 42 Whisky 20 (They'll score on a broken play and once on a decent drive, but will be forced to hit field goals the only other times they get within sniffing distance of the end zone)
  11. +1....this is just plain funny.
  12. Welcome to Husker Nation sir. I believe you will have an enjoyable day, win or lose. Best of luck to you and good travels. And to Bucky...where ever you are. A firm salute in your direction, a hearty Hooooraaaaah!!!!!, and a sincere thanks to a brother from the long green line. Enjoying the privilege of watching the game in peace and comfort will be a little sweeter remembering folks like you that are out there serving.
  13. Dude...a little disappointing clicking on this topic an not having a Movie Poster here..if you're gonna start something like this, do it right...start off with one of your own creation!
  14. One game in the books after this post. Any updated opinions?
  15. Thanks everyone..these are all hilarious. Best look-alike thread I've seen. Of course, Brent B is a good target... Keep up the good work!
  16. I didn't pay much attention to him today. What were his stats? Any good plays? I know I saw Eric Martin flying around like a cruise missile gone loco..
  17. I think if the coaching staff is open and honest with the kid and tells him he will or won't get playing time, it should always be up the the player. There are no guarantees, and if our recruiting continues to improve, why redshirt and then get tossed in with another group of young studs that come along. Make your mark now, unless you feel a you need a year of experience and training. Bottom line, is should be up to the kid, with honest advice from the coaching staff.
  18. Thanks gang..I hadn't seen anything about it and was wondering. I agree..if we can carry the load without him, good idea to keep him in the cupboard. Was really good to see so many guys on the field today. Kind of had that old school feeling. You just can't beat getting quality playing time for 2nd and 3rd team and younger players, even if it is against weaker opponents. Practice snaps against our 2nd or 3rds might be tougher than snaps against Idaho State, but you can't replicate game snaps in practice. THAT builds championship teams, IMHO.
  19. Go ahead and pile on if I'm just being an idiot, but what happened to Tommy Armstrong? Did he redshirt? Is he injured? Is he in jail somewhere? Is Bo angry with him? I thought it was a neck and neck tie for him and Kellogg III to be the number 2 and that he was pushing Taylor Martinez for the start? Did someone put a mickey in my Kool-aide? What am I missing here?
  20. It's called class. And in all fairness, we were trying to score and then Marrow fumbled on the 1 yd-line. That's a guy that has been less than impressive so far. Is it though? I think playing a good fair football game shows just as much respect as not scoring because you don't want to be thought of as a coach that 'runs up the score.' Look at our game today. We were just the better team and we scored-a lot. So did we show less class because we scored so much? My favorite quote regarding scoring a lot of points was in the 84 point drubbing we put on Minnesota. The press asked Lou Holtz if he was angry at TO for running up the score. Lou got pissed and said something like "Listen here...it is not Tom Osborne's job to keep his team from scoring..it is ours!"
  21. Exactly...seeing a LOT of people getting playing time. That is what builds long term greatness. I'm loving that, not so much the whipping we are laying down.
