  1. You forgot your sarcasm sticky but I get your drift. I'm afraid a lot of people will jump on the bandwagon to limit/eliminate gun and ammo sales. With over 300 million people in our country, it's not hard to see that 2 or 3 a year would go psycho enough to want to live out the video games they have been playing for 10 years. Unfortunately it is part of the society we live in and attempting to take away guns under the guise of making society more safe is futile.
  2. We may not know who or what teams are still contacting him....especially after the good showing in the Elite 11. It sounds like he loved his experience here and likes the coaches, players and our offense.
  3. There is a lot of potential for Beck to make this offense a very good one in years to come. The longer our offense has the ball the less time the other teams offense has to do the same. It's time for a few high school receivers, running backs and O Linemen to step up and see what Nebraska has coming. Get on the bandwagon and play in a bunch of BCS Bowls, Conference Championships, and National Championship Games. There I said it.
  4. Interesting...along with Harlow, other OL recruits Quessenberry and Hinnant are within an easy drive of Stanton. Stanton would be south Orange County along with Harlow...Q is north San Diego County and Hinnant is north Orange County. Thinking Stanton should take these guys out for a lunch or dinner soon! Good call, he already had lunch with Harlow, and he set up a second visit with his mom. Looking good for us. Me likey!
  5. It's easy to see why a few PSU players/commits might get cold feet with the discussions around the Big 10 this week. If Ross is going to jump, there is a great place in Lincoln Nebr he could spend 4 or 5 great years.
  6. Not Butthurt at all Jarvis. Just wondering why 20 to 60 something men want to act like the geeky kid in grade school who wants so badly to be friends with the new cool kid in class.
  7. If the idea is to punish PSU football, then all they need do is keep talking about sanctions and the death penalty. Players will be jumping ship and finding other schools to play for until something is finalized. Their program won't be capable of beating Purdue or Indiana on a bad day. Their present coach would ride out the storm for 3 to 4 years, then a new coach might be able to jump start the program after the fires are put out. I don't think the Big 10 or the NCAA wants a strong even close to dominant PSU team.
  8. I've never understood the habit of trying to be the first to give a player a nickname in hopes that "my name is the one that sticks". There aren't any medals to hand out for the most original name. Let's allow him to sign an LOI and get on campus and beyond his redshirt year before we dub him the next savior of our program. No wonder these kids have huge egos. I'm as happy as anyone that he wants to call Lincoln home a year from now and I'd love to see him become all I think he can be. I'll start paying attention to him when he starts climbing the depth charts.
  9. Instead of limiting 2nd amendment rights, I suggest that if everyone carried a gun then these fools who insist on mass killing might be shot sooner.
  10. I think we'll be pleasantly surprized by this years version of the Huskers. They'll stub their toe a few times but I think we'll be happy with the team.
  11. Some highlights of Johnny Stanton at the Elite 11 Regional. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=8017142 It looks to me like he moves well for a bigger Qb. The workout is a lot more intense than what most high school Qb's see in practice. Also....the finals, being held this week, will be shown on ESPN at 7 pm on Aug 7 and 14.
  12. Kiffin using all the tricks he learned in the SEC to negate the NCAA's penalty. It is now little more than a slap on the wrist for USC and a minor inconvenience. However before I add any more to the thread drift, I do hope Mr Harlow and his family enjoy their stay here and he is impressed enough to throw his hat in the Husker ring.
  13. Scared you that Nebraska is going to a passing offense or that our offense isn't enough of a passing offense to attract Beau? I don't think Pelini or Beck is willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater to attract one recruit. However I do think they are looking for more balence in our offense and be able to spread the ball around to a number of players. This makes the defense pay attention to more than the line of scrimmage and away from the box. Sandland could be a key to making the 2013 offense one of the best in the country.
  14. Let me get this straight. Not enough perceived support of Israel = all-powerful central government? Come on. We are nowhere near an all powerful central government and any arguments to that effect are solely for the purpose of alarmist spin. It is the exact same thing that less conscientious environmental groups do when they start proclaiming all these doomsday propositions. Hyperbole serves no use in real discussion. Also, why should the US support Israel's pre-emptive strike? (honest question). In general I think the US agenda in the middle east should be for long-term peace and stability, and whether that always aligns with Israel's own agenda doesn't really matter. Also, as I remember, there was nothing about not being welcomed by HuskerMax. It was more of a lot of HP members didn't want to go there. Nothing inflames quite like framing a discussion in terms of a race war. Sorry I couldn't respond earlier...it was date night. Don't get me wrong...I'm not an apologist for Israel. As a Christian I'm not sure I follow hook line and sinker the idea of supporting them because we worship the same God. On the other hand we have a bit more history of support from them than anyone else in the Mid East. I fail to see the intelligence in alienating Israel. We need to deal with them intelligently and watch them like a hawk....just as we do every country. Nothing is more bitter than finding out you supported the wrong dogma and right now neither the Repubs nor the Dems have a claim to a doctrine that solves more problems than it creates.
  15. The decision to bring the PSU program to it's knees would be a difficult one. The only legitimate reason to do so in my mind would be a warning shot across the bow to all institutions to maintain control of their programs. By not allowing power to be vested in one man or a few people, and coaches....even the football coaches would know that the AD and Chancellors won't cover their tracks. Let it be known that anyone under the umbrella of the university has a duty to report abuse in all forms and if nothing is done to go higher.
  16. For some, their liberal ties are stronger than blood. Apparently their race hasn't learned the lesson of what happens with an all powerful central government.
  17. Something obviously drew him to ASU. Whether it's the parties, women, less competition or any number of things it may be that he wasn't a good fit here. No reason to waste 2 or 3 years of his life and our coaches time if it wasn't going to stick.
  18. The clinic that Bill Billichik gave for the Husker coaches a few months back, showing them among other things how they use the tight ends in their offense can't be a bad thing for the Husker coaching staff as they talk to Beau. No doubt Tim Beck is drawing up some new plays to show Beau on his next visit.
  19. The team next year might need an easy tournament to springboard into the Big 10. A good place to have success.
  20. I think DL is a point of need for us. Todd Peat came in with high expectations but he's starting his career with injuries which is never a good sign. We brought in a couple good ones last year and that will help but those big guys get banged up easily so you can never have too many. A defense with a great front line has an advantage from the first snap. LB's have the freedom to roam a bit and DB's don't have to cover as long. RB is also an area we need to address. Another strong elusive back like Rex would be nice. He could learn under Rex and be ready the next year.
  21. Adam grew up in Hastings till he was about 6th grade. I'm sure the football coaches here were crying when they saw what he was when he came back to play at NU.
  22. I'm excited about this young man and can't wait to see him put on pads and become a Husker.
  23. Great news about both of these kids planning to join the Huskers. The draft will be a nemesis for the Huskers as it is for most teams. Do the top programs like UCLA, So Caro, Ark, etc have similar problems or do kids stay there because of the liklihood of playing for a Natl Championship?
  24. There is more excitement about Husker B Ball than any time I can remember short of Danny Nee's team going to the NCAA. I'm drinking red Kool Aid!
  25. How in the Billy Heck has this thread about Johnny Stanton transformed into a thread about who will be the starter and who will be the backup QB for the Huskers in the coming season. Discuss it in the football thread and leave this one for info about JS.
