  1. I try to look for the positive and I love the game of basketball. Just don’t like what I see from a team and coach that was highly promoted as the “One” that will finally get an NCAA win. Yes great things take time but this team better learn quickly how to play the game. This season is crucial for recruiting in the future. Another 10-20 season would be a disaster.
  2. Matt Davidson for Wisconsin basketball is still up to his dirty tricks. I saw him hook a defenders arm and then fall to the ground pulling the defender down. It tricked the ref to call the foul on the defender.

  3. South Dakota beat Tenn St by 17 points. Huskers better lace them up tight.
  4. Make up your mind SLH. Does it look to you like this team is doing what they practice? Will this team have a .500 record in the Big Ten? We are about half way through the non conference and they have made marginal progress.
  5. Until Fred decides that kids will run his system or pay the price by not playing then what we see is his system. You get what you allow.
  6. This team is soft mentally and physically both. They don’t understand the basics of basketball. If this is Fred’s system then we will dwell in the cellar till he is fired. Kids need to ride the pine every time they shoot a quick contested three.
  7. We had chances and the holding penalties bite us in the a$$ again but damn refs call the interference like you would if Wisconsin was on offense.

I hate BIG refs.  Every frickin’ time. Clear pass interference and nope. Terrible.

Not to mention the holding calls that they failed to call on Wisconsin.

If you get a chance look at the end zone camera of the last long touchdown run by the Badgers. Watch Wisconsin’s left tackle mall Luke Gifford. That should have been a holding call. It was way more aggregious than Corcoran’s call.

  8. Great points about today’s athletes getting bigger and stronger than their joints can withstand. I had that discussion this summer with the family of a high school senior who did an intense program of lifting to get from 175 his junior year to nearly 200 lbs this past football season. He was a RB and came through the season ok.
  9. We see so many former blue chip programs that are failing miserably the last few years. I’m wondering if some of the blame can be laid at the feet of this generation of recruits. There are still quality hard nosed players but are there fewer of them than in the past? Do the Alabama, Ohio St and the Georgia’s of the world grab the few that are coming out of high school. Have the safety protocols implemented by the NCAA limited a players desire to rarely come out of a game. How many times do we see a RB or WR tap his helmet and come out of a game after only being in for a few minutes? I’m not saying safety shouldn’t be paramount as we now better understand what hit after hit can do to a player over time. If fewer kids are playing football and drifting to sports with less contact that should mean fewer teams have the depth necessary to withstand the rigors of a long season, especially if they have injuries to a key player. Are we already seeing the future of college football where only a few teams can attract the quality and quantity of players to have success for 14 or 15 games a season?
  10. We need a few more blue collar kids who never give up and play smart instead of divas ...... who don’t do either.
  11. The boys are back in town! If we can play both ends of the floor like they did the last 8 minutes we have a chance.
  12. All summer we thought finally we have a team that can beat Creighton. We don’t! They have no clue about how to defend.
  13. You are right that the OC has more jobs than just play calling. He determines from week to week what plays in the playbook will work against Saturday’s opponent then in coordination with the assistants hopefully gets everyone on the same page. The assistants tell him what players are nicked up and who is out for the game. I just think the person most fit for play calling should be the OC who has seen all the groups all week. Even more so than the head coach who may have been called away for part of a practice or has fires to put out.
  14. Helfrich may have been the OC for Kelly during those years but Chip still called the plays. When he became head coach he appointed Scott as OC and let Scott call the plays. Would he now call the plays if he became OC here or do a 50/50 split with Scott?
  15. Hunter Salis is on the floor right now for Gonzaga and getting lots of build up from the announcers.

  16. I realize this is the most talented players but he is a long way from having a talented team.
