  1. A depressing amount of both bandwidth and time will be spent dissecting Purdy's interception. There's a reason he's the 3rd string QB. Just imagine how bad the kid must have consistently been in practice over the last 8 months to have been beaten out by Sims & Haarberg.
  2. Same game again this week for the Badgers. I wonder if their fans hate games where they have 255 yards passing and 86 yards rushing. But they were -1 in the turnover margin against Northwestern and lose 24 - 10. I'm thinking they'll beat us something like 19 - 10.
  3. Oh I thought this was pretty much the only way to watch Husker football at this point, are you guys actually watching the games??
  4. LOL, what kind of trick plays? Hopefully not ones that involve him throwing the ball...
  5. Yes, I'm aware that past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. Yep, and I'm sure that was his exact mindset roughly 10 months ago and here we are. So you can see why I'd be worried that it might happen again. I didn't say "I'm positive he'll f*** it up again," I said the possibility worried me.
  6. Obviously. A QB that is better than the current one on any team would make any team's receivers better. But that wasn't the point of the exchange I had with the other poster. The point I was making is that it'll be hard to draw in a pass-first guy with the receiver corps we have. We wound up with Sims because Sims couldn't get any better offers - and Sims' play is really bad. Definitely worried that Rhule brings in another sub-par player like Sims for next year, big concern.
  7. The QB room is a pile of bodies laying on the floor. So we're way past triaging it. I know that's the low hanging fruit joke in this thread but I thought I'd pile in with one more. I'd honestly say the lack of receiver talent is the bigger deterrent for a passing QB.
  8. Matt Rhule, in his post game presser a bit ago said: We've identified the problem. Yeah, with a good QB and a receiver at least on par with someone like Marcus Washington, you would think that. But those aren't the players out there on the field. So you have to grade the situation on that curve in-game. F***, man. Unreal.
  9. Outside of the conversation on firing Satterfield, here's the thing. This reflects so poorly on Rhule and basically his pride. He should have been screaming in his ear to just run the damn ball. We blew the first game in the 4th quarter. We come to this game and we needed to just kick a FG to have a real chance of winning but braindead coaching decisions ruined our chances. Yeah...if Purdy lobs a TD pass to Coleman it's a different story but get your head straight, Matt: what are those odds?
  10. All three QB's and the way they've been coached by two different staffs are completely inexcusable. You can't put one f****** guy out there that doesn't blow a totally winnable game with dumb turnovers? These coaches had 9 games to get one guy in a spot where at a minimum he's kind of bad but at least doesn't do more harm than good when he's out there. Rhule is a great motivator and culture builder. I'm positive about that. But he should have taken over when it was goal to go with Purdy and said "we running it three times, no question."
  11. This was the worst coaching in a single game that we've seen in a very long time. And that's really saying something. I'm not sure there's anything else to even discuss at all. Goal to go and you ask your 3rd string QB to throw twice instead of setting up for the game-winning field goal?
  12. Asking the third string QB to throw two times on goal to go from their 7 isn't stupid?
  13. Satterfield is too f****** stupid to win this game.
  14. You cannot let Sims do f****** anything with the football at all. Like, nothing.
  15. We have two of the worst QB's in FBS. Sims' QBR for the season now is a complete joke. Both guys are a joke.
  16. Haarberg is 1/5 for zero yards passing and one interception. Legendarily terrible stats. lol
  17. Adrian Martinez would have this team at least at 6-3 right now, pretty much no doubt in my mind. Our stats this year are a shell of Frost's offensive production so I think your first statement is a bit loaded, right?
  18. These games wind up really skewing your perception of the team. Our defense is doing just fine. "Good," probably. We have an overall good team and good coaching but we don't have a QB at all. This has to be the worst QB play in basically the modern era for our team.
  19. Insane that there isn't a single QB on this team.
  20. Are we sure this isn't Tanya?
  21. I'm responding to this just for fun discussion, not because I'm really disagreeing with anything you're saying. I do agree that "10-15 pass attempts per game is probably low." One thing though about "pass attempts per game" is that we're bleeding the play clock way down almost all the time, and we're first or close to first among Power 5 teams with the highest run/pass ratio (which is obviously a big part of this very discussion). So, we're probably not running that many plays each game, period. I think looking at run/pass ratio is the biggest thing. And we've talked about how coming into the MSU game I think we were highest in Power 5. I think we'd do better to just run more outside screens or quick slants. That might be where we find a happy medium between running more pass plays to pull the secondary back/out and also limiting doing things that aren't our strengths, maybe?
  22. I wonder if Haarberg is not being coached to tuck it & run after making a couple reads like it seems like the two Martinez's were. Seems like there's maybe more yards and some more 1st down conversions out there if he just runs it after making two reads.
  23. Oh, another thing: we've actually seen several plays this year where we went empty backfield with 4-5 guys wide. I remember @brophog saying to watch for that but I was skeptical we'd see it at all. It would be really nice to see some quick hitter passes out of that formation because we just don't pass block all that well and Haarberg tends to not remain calm even when we do. Have to just get the ball out of his hand quick.
  24. Yep. One of the biggest plays of the game. Ugh.
