  1. Nike's durability may be a factor for some of you, but the players could care less about that. It's all about what looks the coolest. They get all this gear free and get it replaced easily while they're playing so how it holds up is a moot point...something breaks and they just get a new one. Not to mention that when a fresh pair of kicks gets even so much as a scuff you gotta swap 'em out anyway.
  2. Huge waste of money. I have 110" 3D projector in my theatre. Bought it last year thinking I don't want to have antiquated technology in a couple years as it looked like that's where everything was headed. Paid several grand more for it than a regular projector. Watched a couple things on it when I first got it thinking it was kinda cool. Now, over a year later, I never watch the thing in 3D. Once the inititial cool factor wore off, it is all hat and no cattle. DirecTV has 3-4 channels which are the same 3-4 that it had over a year ago despite predictions that more and more channels would be continually added. But even if every channel broadcast in 3D, I'd MUCH rather watch in HD as it is a much better viewing experience. Even my 9 year old chooses regular HD or BlueRay over 3D when given the choice so I know it's not just that I'm getting old. I don't even ask anymore. Haven't watched in 3D in over a year. Huge waste of money on my part...just ask my wife!!
  3. They get all those sponsorship deals with players and teams because Nike doesn't care how much money they throw around. Adidas was originally a soccer cleat manufacturer and they're based in Germany, so their presence in American football isn't going to be as big as Nike's. Nike has all that money to throw around because they sell the most because they're the best and most popular. Simple supply and demand. If this were a German soccer forum, your point might be relevant. For football in America (and most other sports anyone in America cares about for that matter), it's Nike and nobody else.
  4. Everyone has an opinion about this but I think the fact that Nike has almost every professional super star and almost every top college program is all the proof needed to determine which is the best and which ones the kids these days want to be associated with.
  5. I understand everyone's frustrations with Pederson's time here at Nebraska, and I wanted him gone as much as anybody, BUT all of the "hate" against him is ridiculous in my opinion. I doubt he was trying to hire bad coaches at Nebraska, and make bad decisions. Was he best for Nebraska? No. But does he deserve to be hated by a whole state? No. Part of me feels bad for the guy because he was a Nebraska boy, and that has to be hard for him to know that he let his whole state down, and sent the Nebraska football program down a bad path, that we are just now coming out of. I would assume that most of us are from Nebraska. Can you imagine if you were responsible for the demise of Nebraska Football? That would be gut-wrenching as a native of the great state. Yeah, knowing he's hated by 99% of all hard-core NU cfb fans can't be fun for him. Even worse, he knows firing Frank/Bo for the Clownahan nightmare was easily one of the worst decisions any AD in America has ever made. Ouch. Hey, my ego has gotten me into big troubles too but Pedey really, really let his totally take over. It's a tough price to pay. So after Frank would have had a losing season in 2004, would you have not been on the get rid of Frank bandwagon? Because that is what would have happened and IMO is where Peterson really screwed it up. He should have let Frank complete his failure and then everyone would have been behind the firing. What?? Obviously, we'll never know but it's highly doubtful Frank/Bo would have had a losing season in 2004. Frank never had a losing season(s) but he did.... 1. Win the BigXII 2. Play in the NC game (should have in 1999 too) 3. Beat Texas ....all of which Clownahan could only dream of doing. And Bo could only dream of doing. Just sayin...
  6. More "knowledgeable"? Hahahaha....any gerbil can be a be a Debbie Downer. Dime a dozen. Spoken like a true homer.
  7. I so want to see this matchup. I wonder what the spread would be....309128409182098? Don't you have something better to do...like running our defense? What the hell are you doing posting on message boards? I swear...if we just pissed all that beer and all those Runzas and Fairbury hotdogs away... Really?? You don't know you were hired as our new DC? Here's a link. See Current Coaching Staff... http://en.wikipedia....uskers_football There's a whole thread about it... http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/56756-dc-candidates/page__st__332

  9. The biggest difference between fans who are overly critical of their team and fans who are complete homers is that the critical fan is generally more knowledgable. The homer is lead by complete and total blind faith. The overly critical is lead by overanalyzing facts.
  10. Sir, we are spending $64,000,000.00 on stadium improvements, have give Bo and his assistants a raise 2 out of 4 yrs, we have lockerooms and training facilities second to none. Spending money is not out problem. I agree wIth recruiting, but we are in top 15-25 classes every year, and more imoortantly, from what high school/juco coaches say: we are on the map and Bo has the respect of entire regions in Texas, CA, AZ, and now breaking into the B1G region. Don't forget the HELL our program was in after the 3rd yr of C******n. One second against Texas and one Qtr of Watsgrove epic collapse against OU and we are in 2 BCS games in the last 3 yrs. it's not like we're going 7-5/6-6...if that were the case, more people would see it the way you do. As it stands, we can at the VERY LEAST compete with all but the best 3-4 teams every year. Wah? We get killed by the #8 and #12 team but you think we can somehow hang with the top 3-4 teams? Might want to change your name from 'I am I' to 'Head in Sand' And that whole 'just a second away and just a quarter away' argument is crap too. Every team can say 'if we would have just played a little better or scored more points or played fewer quarters' we would have won more games.
  11. SC is +/- the 5th best team in the SEC and the other game has the top 2...therefor, more talent.
  12. The worst part was that he was actually sitting at a stop light not even moving when this happened. He leaned over to get something off the floor of the passenger side and the car rolled...twice.
  13. Okay...I'll correct you because I think you're wrong. First of all, none of us even knows what his status is with regard to Nebraska (the program we're closest to) so how would you or any of us know if there have been "offers flying around for Stoops"? What we do know is that his name has been mentioned as a possibility for the Nebraska, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Iowa jobs (off the top of my head). I'd say that's a pretty impressive list. Not to mention, most of these coaching vacancies are really trickling along right now as far as what is being announced due to the fact that most of the top programs, and therefor coaches, have a Bowl Game to coach in. His success at Arizona (or lack thereof) as a head coach really has very little to do with his status as a top coordinator. Arizona is a lower tier school in the Pac 10 (football-wise). They are not even the best program in their own state. With regard to your comment: "I do not think he is quite as hot of comodity as he thinks he is". Are you serious? Show me one quote where he's been beating his chest about being a hot commodity. I could understand if you don't think he's as hot of a commodity as some of the posters on here think he is. But I don't think it's fair for you to try to paint him as some sort of over-self-promoter. I haven't seen that from him at all. Stoops is a great defensive mind with a lot of experience and would be a great addition to just about any staff at any level of college football.
  14. +1 for Badgerfan. Will you work for beer and nachos? If so I think we have a winner!!!! Don't take it, Badger. Hold out for beer and RUNZAS!! Let me know if you need an agent...I can clearly get you a much better deal. HEY! Way to drive the price up, now he may not sign! I was going to use Runzas as the closing incentive, now I have to throw those in and think up another closing incentive. Hhhhhhhmmmmm, maybe Valentino's? My client is going to hold out for a Fairbury hotdog. Take it or leave it...non-negotiable!!
  15. HAHAHA....I can assure you this is not the case!!! Not sure whether to take that as an insult or a compliment...but, definitely not a reporter either way. I just find it easier to get information from people "in the know" when I can throw out a hypothetical and you can answer with something like "this" or "you're wrong" than if I ask you to give me all the details on your own. It's kind of one of those, "say nothing if I am right" tactics and then when the person on the other end of the phone is silent, you know you're onto something. But they don't technically have to tell you anything. I guess that's kind of a reporter strategy now that you mention it. But I thought it was more common sense when dealing with guys that are in the know. Last year I had a guy send me a PM at another site. I gave him some info. It ended up almost word for word in a LJS blog. Wow...crazy. Not me though I can assure you!!! If you want proof, PM me something that you haven't told anyone else and see if it shows up in the LJS.

  18. Why is that? We have zero DCs now...what would make him a Co-DC at Nebraska? Or are you just saying that Bo is hands-on enough with the D that Stoops wouldn't have complete and 100% control so that would make him Co? Sharing some responsibilities with the Head Coach isn't quite the same as having the title of Co-DC. No. Like as in he'll be sharing duties with JP. I know you know a lot more about this than I do and I can only guess that you're eluding to something you know. But why would we structure it to have JP and Stoops on the same level as Co-DC's? Seems very out of balance to me. Or is the plan to, knowing Stoops will only be around for a year or two, have him mentor JP in the role so that when Stoops leaves, JP is in place to handle it by himself? You sir, answer your own questions a lot.... What do you mean by this? Or are you saying that I ask a question and then fill in the hypothetical answer on my own and sometimes it happens to be the right answer?

  20. Why would Ferentz get offered the Chiefs job? Are there some ties there that I'm not aware of or something? I know he was once regarded as hot coaching commodity years ago, but I didn't think he still was. He and Pioli are really good friends. Pretty sure Pioli tried to lure him away from Iowa back in '09 but settled for Haley I'm sure Pioli is really ready to have someone in there who he can work with. Pretty well documented that he and Haley did NOT get along. So if all this is true, then I suppose it wouldn't be that hard to connect the dots. I would think Stoops would be toward the top of Iowa's list if Ferentz went to KC. I think the Chiefs would be making a big mistake, but I'm not sure that whole scenario would be all that bad for Iowa. Would suck for us though...not because I don't want to face Stoops as a head coach, but because I want him for our DC. Would definitely add some fuel to the fire for the Iowa/Nebraska "rivalry" though.

  23. I don't think anyone was thinking he'd go back to OU as the Co-DC. I think the speculation is that Venables will move on to a head gig and Stoops may come back to be the DC in place of Venables.
  24. Ummmmmm.......He was a HEAD COACH with Arizona!!! DCs aren't going to make as much as a head coach. He will not get $1.4M anywhere, I mean anywhere to be a DC. Also I think we could give more than $400-500K from what I've heard. I was hearing anywhere from $550-750K. That is a pretty damn good salary for a DC anywhere. Damn, he just got handed his walking papers. I don't think he's too worried about exactly what he will be making. He wants to get back into coaching right away with a Big name program. The sooner he shows he is what he was before Zona the sooner he gets another HC job. Yes I know this, and i'm assuming most educated people on this board do as well (like you). If he takes a DC position anywhere he will be taking a pay cut from what he was making... but is it out of the question that he would have the opportunity to be a head coach somewhere? That's what I was referring to... taking a DC position over a HC position. Also, let's say we can pay him 650 or 700... if i'm not mistaken Auburn is looking for a DC too, or did I not hear that somewhere and am just thinking it? I don't see how Ohio State can keep their current guy and add Mike for 650-700, I don't see OU booting Venebels unless he gets an HC spot somewhere and then Mike comes in to fill in. If we can dish out that kind of cash I don't think there are many other programs in the country that will dish back at that price. OU might if venebels left, Auburn might.... but as far as vacancies at big time programs... I dont see many that can fork out the cash. Mike would be huge to NU for recruiting, for experience, for a lot of reasons. I really do think we'd have a good shot to pay Mike as much as other programs. He has talked as if he really respects us (especially after getting whooped in the bowl game a couple years ago). They are and they have brother Mark on their short list from FSU (already being reported Mark to Auburn is a done deal). They may also have South Carolina's D-Coordinator, Ellis Johnson in their cross hairs. http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/12/11/fsu-stoops-brother-on-auburns-dc-radar/
