1. With a torn tendon, why the hell did Martinez even play another down. No way he could plant, accelerate, get up on his toes or step into a throw with that injury. How did the staff miss/allow this to continue?
2. Martinez, if 100%, could make a living on punt returns or KO. If he can catch the ball. They get a seam or lane set up, he is gone.
3. Hell yeah, I miss having some linemen that were walking a razors edge of sanity or psycopathy. We need some guys on our lines are that borderline insane and just want to hurt people, mash them into the ground like RG44 does. I miss watching the Peters and Wistrom absolutely wreck other teams and love every second of it. We need that kind of swagger and aggression again. Agree. We haven't had a nasty lineman since I don't remember. Henry maybe? Would love to see some enforcer on that OL that doesn't take crap off anyone. Yup. I want someone mean like Henry and Incognito. I don't want a dirty player like Romanowski, but I want someone mean who will pitilessly crush their opponent. You don't win football games by being nice. Again, there's a difference between being dirty, like spitting on someone or eye gauging and just being ruthless. We saw the lack of mean in the 2012 B1G against Wiscky when their guys were hitting Martinez with no fear of retribution. The old nasty NU line of the past would have got after those Wisky players and come to the aid of their QB. I miss that pitbull mentality and hope we develop that. Go like hell between the whistles. Nothing cheap or dirty, simply mean.

5. Kid sounds like a prima donna who, even if he arrived, would ride the pine as he appears unwilling to put in the work required to succeed. Not surprising he mailed in his decommit via Twitter. Less time on Twitter and more time in the class room and he'd be here. No ones fault, but his own.
6. The article, IMO, alluded that HE chose to commit to make the other schools quit calling so he could have some quiet time to think and decide. Said yes, to make others stop asking.
7. Like Lawrence Phillips? Him and several more former Huskers......... this program has not been without its own "incidents".
8. I was thinking the same thing. It sounds like Bo is looking to improve discipline on the entire team, not just the secondary. Here's hoping this hire, and any other responsibility changes, result in more forced TOs, less TOs by the offense, and a huge improvement in special teams. Agree. Said this in another thread. The guys playing at the service academies and other military colleges (The Citadel, VMI) are generally under sized, not as athletic and not many "stars". Watching some play the traditional powers looks like HS vs NFL. A real disparity, BUT these schools find a way to stay competitive and at times win. This is done through playing sound, fundamental football. Playing angry, as under dogs and with a chip on your shoulder. Warren knows this and teaches this. This, IMO, will pay huge dividends for NU. The whole "we thought they would roll over for us" excuse is about to get kicked to the curb. Some of his former players called in an said things like "he likes the corners to play man", "play aggressive", "he likes to bump and run", "he allowed me to play angry" etc..... Sounds like another DB coach we had and wanted.........Sanders. I like it. Throw in his discipline, attention to detail, excitement to recruit and aggressive style and we might have a winner.
9. Take away the whole Bo vs Bo groups and he has accomplished something that very few have in their first 6 years. He has won 9 games each year. He is the first to do it while taking over a team with a losing record. He is one of only 2 others to have done so at his first school as HC. The other 2? TO and Barry Schwitzer. We play more games, but there are also less schollies, no more partial qualifiers, parity etc...... Still on the fence about Bo, but saw tons of improvement on D. I hope he puts it all together.
10. The service academies and others (VMI, The Citadel) are unique in that sports is secondary to the "military" and academics. It is nearly impossible to recruit a kid to got there who is being looked at by other schools. Cutting class, an unclean room, improper uniform etc all result in punishments that include demerits, confinements, tours or loss of liberty. Dismissal for academics, violation of the Honor Code etc..... Throw in the rigors of plebe year, going back to the corp when the season is over, the parades, inspections etc...... and there is not a lot to sell a young person on. Recruiting, per say, is a different beast than getting some one to a "regular" school. I am unsure sure if his "recruiting prowess" will translate over to success at NU. HOWEVER, IMO, the biggest recruiting tool is being relational and able to connect with the kids. he is a former player at the AF Academy (smart guy), AF Officer (leadership skills) young (relational) former military (organized) etc..... If one were to look at a "skill set" for a recruiter, I would say he is good to go. He also got the kids at Air Force to be able to play against the big boys of the FBS and win some games. The kids he coached, IMO, are far less talented, smaller, less support (admn and facilities) yet they showed up every Sat and fought. They played sound mistake free football and were disciplined. That mindset of team, fight, win, duty, etc....will only help this team IMO. Time will tell. Like Knapp said about Fish above. Golf pro to best position coach we have IMO.
11. 2012- 490 yrds/game total 2011-390 yrds/game total 2010- 351 yrds game 2009-284 yrds/game The above is yrds per game total. Unsure of rush vs pass yards.
12. I am not to worried about his ability to recruit. To get an 18 year old to come to a school where education and service take priority over athletics is huge. Going through the plebe year with all the crap that goes with it and still agreeing to play ball is a sale accomplished by a great salesman. I hope it works. I was shocked at the RF hire and he was a huge surprise and one of the best hires by Bo. Wonder how Bo found him?
13. My point being with the changes going on today, in regards to coaching changes, it appears that some HC's are more likely to move (fire) guys to try and "fix" their issues (perceived or real). NU has done an extremely great job in hiring HC's who are loyal to a fault. Cally's cost him a job. Bo is the same way. When winning, great. When not, not so great. We have had turn over. Who has Bo let go? We can argue all day about him "helping" Wats, Eckler, Carl etc, but until it is in writing, it is the same old non-proven opinion. Bottom line, the days of a staff staying together are over. Money talks. Joseph is a prime example of someone who left for money. The only way to keep this continuity is to pay. I guarantee Clemson is going to pay Morris to keep him. NU doesn't and won't. That, IMO, is a problem. In year 2, with a phenom QB, Gus takes Auburn to the MNC, Dabo at Clemson in year 5 with 2 BCS bowl appearances and big wins in bowls over LSU and OSU. I'll support Bo as he is the coach of my team, but to continually say the staff needs time, injuries etc to allow the same 4 loss, non-fundamentally sound team to take the field and continue to think that "next" year we are going to arrive is BS. Teams are facing the same issues we have and are. The difference, IMO, is they are doing things to fix them. I am not in the know, nor know anyone with the program, but from the outside it appears Bo is content to "trust the system". I am optimistic of our D next year. The DL and LB's should be a strength and possibly one of the best in the B1G. Hope Moss comes back. Safety should be solid as well. AA back, Long back, Bell back etc and the O should be steady. I have just seen the same pieces in place for the past several years (different names), but the results have been the same. I am ready for year 7 to yield a team complete on both sides of the ball (an ST's) that competes for 4 quarters and is fundamentally sound. Chemistry, Psyche. Admin......who knows.
14. Hey now. They did have the second best defense in the state of Arkansas. Think Ash was at Wisky prior. 3 Rose Bowls........... Yep. He sucks..................
15. Please, i wish you guys would do research before making comments. Miles has been in coaching for a few years now. He has coaching experience, maybe not recruiting experience, but he is a coach. Now is he the best possibility? Imo no, but does have some coaching experience. 2 years in the CFL? I would still like a guy with more. NU fans will recognize the name immediately, but unsure about the rest of the college world. If true, not the "splash" I was hoping for. I look at who is hiring who in the college football world recently (and firing guys who are not getting it done) and NU sits by and watches schools get further and further ahead........If Barron, hopefully he will be like Fish and be one that is a keeper. Just think in Bo's "do or die year" (my opinion) he needs to bring in a ringer, make adjustments and possibly let guys go.
16. Team chemistry? Admin? Psyche of team?
17. Frustrating to see the quick action by Michigan, UGA, Louisville, PSU etc as it relates to paying top dollar and getting top talent. Now Urban goes and gets some good ones............. Bo. Come on man! http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/10292726/chris-ash-larry-johnson-sr-join-ohio-state-buckeyes-coaching-staff
18. This makes sense. Another board speculated that the search has gone "longer" than anticipated rumoring there were issues with the initial contact. Still hope its Sanders. What is this "other" board you speak of? hmmm The other one some are on and some lurk! Unsure the proper way to post other board stuff. If in violation, please let me know. Thx
19. Is it to much to ask for one who can do both? Miles was a great Husker, but again with the training ground. He was a beast in the CFL, but does that translate to great coaching? Same with Frost as OC. There are other Huskers with coaching experience. If it has to be a Husker, look for one of them. IMO, a "BIG TIME" hire, right before the recruiting period starts would be huge IMO.
20. This makes sense. Another board speculated that the search has gone "longer" than anticipated rumoring there were issues with the initial contact. Still hope its Sanders.
21. Hire Sanders. Fans are happy. He is a Husker guy. He gets "it". He can coach his a$$ off. Smart recruits will look at the guys he has coached and realized he can get you to the big time. He knows Bo and the system. No slow down to learn.
22. One more game and the Huskers have another year with a former player in the Super Bowl.
23. Fonzie with the INT against the Colts. Thought it was a TD. Looking good Fonzie. Not a NE fan. Would like to see a Husker in the Super bowl to keep the streak alive.
24. Sanders has a proven track record of success. You look at 2003 and 2008-2010 and the stats speak for themselves. Took USC from 112 to 53rd IIRC. Tried to look up UNC for his years there, but had no luck. Next year, IMO, is Bo's do or die. His guys (again), no youth and a semi-experienced QB PLUS the return of a lot of weapons on O. Load the deck and get the band back together. My jobs on the line, I want a guy I have been in the trenches with who knows me and I know them. Sanders, if I am Bo, is my guy.
25. Did it break down attempts per game. The Big XII seemed to throw ALOT more than the B1G. IMO, I'd take a 50% completion rate when they threw like 40+ times vs opponents throwing 20 times. Our run D has been so much less since 2010, I would think teams passed less against us than when Sanders was here. I would still take Sanders. Guys seemed to play better. Faster, more aggressive. I also wonder could Sanders have developed guys better than the other 2. SJB, Green, Evans, Mo, PJ etc.....
