  1. Perhaps Riley saw that he had no issues for 7-8 years and gave him a chance to prove himself. Which worked...........for a season. That's entirely possible. I wouldn't fault Riley for doing that. But if that's the case I would think it would have been on the conditions that nothing else could happen.
  2. This is all wild speculation on my part but I'm going to post it anyway. I'm curious if his priors had at least something to do with his career path. I've always thought it was a little odd that he was at Tulane. With the energy and enthusiasm he has and all the NFL guys that he's working with, it just always seemed odd that he hadn't already moved up to a bigger program before now. At 45 years old, it's not like he's just a young guy working his way up. But with this coming out, it kind of seems like it might fill in the gaps. He was at San Jose State from 01-04. He apparently left San Jose State in 04 for .... San Jose City College. Not exactly a step up but if the first DUI was in 04 it might be related. He was at San Jose City College until 08 when he went to Fresno State. That is a step up but is also in the similar time-frame of the second offense. He spent three years at Fresno State and three years at Tulane before coming here. I'm not sure a lot can be drawn from that other than the steps up in his career don't seem to fit what we've seen since he got here. Anyway, doesn't mean much other than it might provide a little insight into what's gone on before and might indicate that it's entirely possible that it's affected his career before now.
  3. I won't pretend to know what "should" be done. There are way to many variables to say for sure one way or the other. But I've got a pretty good guess as to what will be done. I think he'll be fired. From Riley's standpoint, I don't think he'll be able to keep someone with this type of history on staff. Especially after Reilly's incident I'm sure the team got a lecture in no uncertain terms that it wasn't acceptable. Now there is a coach - not to mention someone 20+ years older - who's now done the same thing (at least) three times. And I think it also makes a difference how drunk he was. Based on a TV news report tonight, I'm not even sure it was "only" 0.15. It was just in the "at least 0.15" category. It's not like it was "I didn't think I was that drunk." He was basically twice the legal limit and maybe more than that. I don't know how that can be justified given the circumstances. And that's before any punishments come through the court system as far as jail time or loss of license. If we were at all worried about negative recruiting before..... And on top of all that, I don't see the AD/Chancellor signing off on keeping him. You have a high-profile employee who is now all over the news for being in an accident and getting a third DUI. How does that look when you're trying to impose any discipline for alcohol incidents with the general student population? And are they willing to run the risk of keeping it only for it to happen a fourth time? What would happen if he injures someone - or worse - the next time? I can't imagine they'd be willing to run that risk.
  4. Moved a bunch of posts out of the Williams thread to this one. Plenty to discuss without having to get quite this far off topic.
  5. Most likely, he will be / has been let out. He won't have to go until his sentence begins, and this won't be until the court hears the entire matter, which a lawyers can drag out for at least a year. *I'm no expert in law, but this was how it worked for the person I knew with three DUIs. I believe he's being held in jail until his hearing on Monday which I obliviously don't know what time that is. I would then doubt he can come right over and start coaching. Yeah, 2:00 pm tomorrow. Will miss practice tomorrow morning (at least).
  6. Probably a bit premature (in terms of the legal process) but it sure sounds like there isn't a lot of question about what happened early this morning. Third Offense DUI though it does appear that it's been a few years since the previous offenses. What's your opinion? Edit: I did add a third option for "not sure yet." Like I said above, I don't like to presume guilt but it sure doesn't sound like there is much wiggle room in what happened this morning. But perhaps some might want to see what - if anything - he's actually convicted of.
  7. Said he's "trying" to decide before his first game which is on August 26th. Now says he "might" visit here - which would obviously be after the above date.
  8. What other young guys is Sam talking about? Khalil was held out and Carlos was in the 2 deep. I think most expect those 2 to be the back ups, but with bigger upsides in the near future. Mainly Neal and Alex Davis. Stille and Miller were outside shots but tough as true Freshmen.
  9. This appeared to be the depth chart at the scrimmage today: LT - Gates, Gaylord, Farniok LG - Foster, Barnett, Raridon/Hannon C - Utter, Decker RG - Farmer, Whitaker, Wilson/Brokop RT - Knevel, Hahn
  10. At today's scrimmage, Freedom and Dzuris were the starters, Natter, Sedrick King and Matt Jarzynka were working with the second team with Neal and Stille the 3s.
