  1. If there were questions as to whether this was actually going to happen, it sure looks to me like Stevenson thinks he'll play: https://twitter.com/Jordanstevie2/status/652147938110509056 https://twitter.com/Jordanstevie2/status/652148819178602496 Edit: Well he apparently deleted them pretty quickly but it sure looked like "comeback" and "overcoming adversity" type tweets.

  3. So we're supposed to feel better that we really SHOULD have completed 25% of those throws instead of the 12.5% that we did complete. I take back everything I've said.
  4. The new topics are kept per user so when you view the topics without logging in, it doesn't know what to show for new topics (I don't think). I thought it usually showed nothing new when I do that but perhaps it shows everything new. However, when you log in, it should show anything new since you last logged in. Not sure why it would only be showing you a few things there.
  5. So that's 25 runs for 111 yards (4.4 ypc) and 8/11 passing for 149 yards (13.5 ypa) - or something close to those numbers. I didn't count the pass to Reilly for 49 and the pass to Westy for 27 as those were first and long due to the penalties. I'm not sure if the runs by TA were scrambles (called pass plays) or designed runs.
  6. First Down Plays against Southern Miss (in order, grouped by possession): Pass to Westy for 15 Newby run for 3 Newby run for 13 Newby run for 17 Pass to Westy for 11 Newby run for -2 Reilly run for 2 Newby run for 5 TA run for 1 Pass to Reilly for 22 Newby run for 6 Newby run for 2 Newby run for 0 Pass to Janovich for 53 Ozigbo run for 2 Newby run for 0 (not officially a play - holding penalty) Pass to Reilly for 49 TA run for 9 Incomplete pass (drive started with 34 seconds in the half on own 48 - not officially a play: offensive pass interference) Pass to Westy for 27 Incomplete pass HALFTIME Cross run for -2 Cross run for 1 Moore run for 9 Janovich run for 4 Cross run for 8 Newby run for 6 Newby run for 6 Pass to Moore for 20 Incomplete pass Pass to Allen for 10 Newby run for -1 Pass to Westy for 17 Newby run for 7 TA run for 17 Janovich run for 2 Newby run for 4 Pass to Westy for 1
  7. Doesn't it affect both QB's though? Tommy was 10-31. Lunt was 23-45 Also affects different types of passes differently. We threw 25+ yards nine times. I don't know how many Illinois threw but I don't remember many. One for sure.

  10. We're at 50 - 60 - 7 for rush - pass - penalty, based on what I found below: http://www.cfbstats.com/2015/national/index.html I like that site but I don't think it has anything on what plays are called on first down. Or am I missing it?

  12. So pointing out that we probably should have been calling the plays that were working better instead of the plays that were not working as well is now classified as "hand-wringing"? Newby has not been as good as I expected. But there's a lot more that goes into it than just saying he's struggling. He's averaging 5.5 yards per carry. In his first season where he got extensive action, Ameer Abdullah averaged 5.0. That's not to say that Newby is the second coming of AA but perhaps it just takes a little time to get in the flow of things. Last year AA averaged 6.1 yards per carry. Against USA (admittedly lesser competition), Newby averaged 7.1. Against Miami - the best overall talent we've played against - Newby averaged 5.9. He's been over 4.0 in two other games. Ameer had six carries for 1 yard against Purdue last year (before getting hurt). Some times it takes a few carries to get going. And all that is not even taking into consideration what type of plays are being called. I don't have the stats right in front of me but against Illinois we averaged about 3 yards per carry between the tackles and about 6 yards per carry outside the tackles. But we ran about the same number of both. Ozigbo was obviously getting more of the outside the tackle carries and he had the stats to show it. I think Newby is getting a lot of the inside the tackle carries early in the games and there just isn't much room to make anything happen. Our offense has put up some pretty good stats and I give them credit for that. We've also faced the #66, #88, #42 and #107 defenses in the country before a terrible showing against Illinois, to some extent due to the weather. Now we'll play the #11, #26 and #5 defenses in the next three games. We'll see which is more responsible for the early-season success - our good offense or our opponents bad defense.
