  1. Here's the changes from the LJS. We beat them to the punch on Bell, Westerkamp and Martinez. Changing the 99 yard play to TA/Enunwa gets my vote. And I definitely think Ameer's game-winning TD against McNeese State should be the new 58 yard selection.
  2. By the way, we'll probably never know Cross' number on those tests because he's not going to get invited to the Combine.
  3. Your definition of a third down back doesn't match what basically anyone else is talking about when they talk about a third-down back. If you wanted to have your own definition, I was just going to let it go. A third down back is a quick, generally smaller back who excels at playing in space and catching the ball out of the backfield. A quick Google search turned up this article at the top of the list. It's from a couple years ago. Several of those guys are every down backs. Foster, Law Firm, Gore, Jackson, Ridley, Richardson, Peterson and Martin were all the featured back for their teams. Thus the guys who were more "third-down backs" were Bradshaw (5-10, 217) and Murray (6-0, 217) who obviously turned into a feature back. That's probably not particularly helpful but here is the run/pass ratio for all teams for 2012: Even Tebow's Broncos threw more than they ran on third down by a noticeable margin. Finally, catches by RBs on third down: Again, several featured backs (Rice, Foster, McFadden, Bush, Forte and Spiller). But the third down specialists were usually smaller guys: Brown (6-0, 223), Rodgers (5-6, 196), Gerhart (6-0, 231), Sproles (5-6, 190) and Woodhead (5-8, 200). So out of all those guys, only one is within 15 pounds of how big Cross is. And I'd say they all play in space better than Cross (but that's my opinion).
  4. They're in the same file as "September 2015 South Florida Weather Forecast".
  5. I don't want to sound rude, but that perception couldn't be any more wrong. There is a huge difference between a 215lb 5'10" RB (Burkhead), and a 240lb 6'1" RB (Cross). Had Burkhead also not had health concerns, he would have gone higher. That's true but that's only on aspect of a guy getting drafted. Burkhead was also #2 among RBs in the Vertical Jump, #2 in the broad jump, #4 in the Cone Drill, #2 in the 20 Yard Shuttle, and #5 in the 60 Yard Shuttle. In short, he is a great athlete. Cross will do well in the bench - the least useful test for RBs, although Burkhead still was #13 - but will not come close to matching the rest of those numbers. And 5'10" is actually right about the average height of NFL RBs. If this article is to be believed, 5'10", 215 are the ideal measurements.
  6. Yeah, I don't see it as belittling or anything like that. Just something else that people can whine about. Your last sentence was spot on.

  8. This is pretty crazy. But it should help having most of the tougher games at home:
  9. Wasn't really affected by the tornado. 10.9 100 meters which I assume is electronic so that's pretty good.
  10. He's pretty much exactly the opposite of what teams look for in a third down back.
  11. Lewis has a great shot. I think it's possible we end up with another OL as well - Kondolo possibly. Possibly Davie if he continues to improve. Valentine and/or Collins could leave early. Rose, Cockrell and Gangwish would have to show major improvement. I doubt it. No chance for Cross.
  12. Officially visiting September 12th (South Alabama). Mom and dad attending as well.
