  1. Ya OK, D1 football is D1 football. If you want to change it, define new divisions. Boise State is part of the D1 conferences or FCS. (what ever it called now)
  2. Past 5 years. 2011: 1 team with 0 losses, 4 teams with 1 loss 2010: 3 teams with 0 losses, 5 teams with 1 loss 2009: 5 teams with 0 losses, 1 team with 1 loss 2008: 2 teams with 0 losses, 7 teams with 1 loss 2007: 1 team with 0 losses, 2 teams with 1 loss, 10 teams with 2 losses Boise with a loss, with their weak SOS, is not deserving of a shot at the championship. 2 loss teams are not deserving either. One of the 2 loss teams would have gotten the 4th spot in 2007, but I don't care that one is picked over the other 9 since you didn't leave out a deserving team. Likewise in 2010, you had 3 teams with a solid claim that wouldn't get left out, and you can pick 1 of the 5 who doesn't really have a claim to fill the 4th spot, leaving out 4 who didn't deserve it anyway. 2009 is the only problem, and I don't really have an issue leaving out Boise State playing a much weaker schedule. And this is why this system will have it's problems just like the BCS. If you discount the smaller schools in D1 football than you have failed.
  3. Wow....talk about hitting the nail on the head. Great post! NU fans thinking we're going to magically go toe-to-toe recruiting with Alabama, USC, Texas, Ohio State, etc just don't get it. TO couldn't hack that. "Nobody" at NU has ever done that. We don't have anything even remotely close to the local talent available those schools do. So just as you said, we have to do something different. Unique. Our fans that bitch & moan about us going after a Frazier, Crouch, Tmart, etc for qb simply don't understand that our best coaches know full well our assets & liabilities at Nebraska and compensate the best they can. Sometimes with fantastic results. Bo has his weak spots but some good ones too. Let's see how it goes. when we wiffed on Peat this spring, that spoke volumes about our recruiting problems....... Only to you!
  4. Never mind. it took a few, but I got it. All is good.
  5. I agree with everything except that South Carolina had much superior athletes than we did. But most of our problems in the blowouts were scheme (not pressuring the QB)/player related (as in who was playing, Thorell anyone?) on the defensive side along with a weak OL. (What else is new?) The one thing that I'm wondering is that how we are always "young and inexperienced" on the OL every year? At some point in time, they just need to produce, no more excuses for Barney. As for this year's recruiting, this is what they should have been doing from day 1. I'm very happy that they seem to finally get it and are taking it as serious as they need too. It just sucks that it took them 4 years to do it. Joseph has been the best hire that Bo has made and it's not even close. They are building relationships in the south that will eventually pay off big time for us. Els organizational skills are paying big dividends too. What's been so horrid about the recruiting the last four years??? LOL at your BC comment.
  6. A pretty good read. The guy Jason Licht, he's been with some great teams. In college and the pros. Early 90s Huskers, and then scouting for Belichick the last few years. Very good read. More to life than Husker football.
  7. Ahhhh yes. this is good. It's a bbs. some fans take it harder then others! let it slide.
  8. really, Knapp?????? i mean really?......... i make one comment, 2 responses and you want to argue about this? you have a problem............. Oh, you've made far, far more than one comment about Pelini, Hunter. If anyone has a problem, it's the man in your mirror. This sh#t is good!
  9. I think an apology is definitely in order. Firing Frank & Bo for a bowl winning 10 - 3 season was an amazingly stupid thing to do and we paid the FULL price for that moronic move with the Clownahan replacement. Let's own up to it like men, give him a round of thankful applause and show we know it was a huge mistake. Nothing but good can come from that. I don't think it was a 'huge mistake' to fire him, but the decisions afterwards definitely were. Yes, he was a big part of the program, but I'd stop short of begging him to come back and groveling at his feet. Who said that you should grovel at his feet???????? It's only a opinion from fans. Oh. Kidnapping. That's a better word from fans. fans unlike you. I guess It's best to be negative all the time.

  11. Well according to most on this board "Economic factors" has nothing to do with it. your just a "bandwagon fan" if you don't pony up and spend the money. ok we've heard "its 50 miles to Lincoln from Omaha" that's about $12.00 in gas, and $10.00 to get in- sweet-screamin jesus the unemployment rate in Nebraska is one of the lowest in the nation- you people can't spend $22.00? this is NOT an economic issue Please let me know if that 22.00 worked out for you? Sure as soon as you let me know how much you spend on your internet connection, computer, cable bill and the gross of big macks you consume per per month. Some "fans" have different views of what it is to be a Fan- to me it is short for "fanatic" so if someone will not go to the game because they don't want to spend a few dollars- I have a different name for those folks- no longer will I consider them band wagon fans, they are just cheap arse fans- My guess is that your new to this “fanatic fan” thing. Second, how I choose to spend my money doesn't concern you! I haven't needed your opinion in my finances in 47 years and I sure as hell don't need it now. Third; Whatever!!!!!! LOL. Take your post and !!!

  16. My guess is fuel prices. big bucks to drive for a spring game. I don't buy it. If gas were $2.77 a gallon ($1 dollar cheaper) a person who drives a pickup at 15 mpg would only save $20 buy driving 300 miles, $40 round trip. These would be the people coming in from well out of town and most likely making a "mini-vacation" out of the game. If people really want to go, but don't want to pay the above: 1. Find a buddy with a Camry (30mpg would cost extra $20 round trip) and buy his ticket. 2. Don't take the family out to Applebee's one night. 3. Pack a cooler for a tailgate so you don't have to buy drinks at the bars. 4. Grill burgers/hotdogs instead of steak/shrimp If people don't want to go, I don't see gas prices as the reason. If it is for some and an extra $40 is life or death in a monthly budget, then those people should not be spending $10 on a ticket to watch football practice. Sorry gas isn't 2.77 where I live, It's 4+. and it would be a 3,000 mile trip for me. It's not worth spending the money for a spring game especially when I'll be able to watch it on TV.
