  1. Alcohol, the cause of-and solution to, all of life's problems. - Homer Simpson
  2. And there you go making "excuses."
  3. Hey Rich, You married into a Nebraska loving family so I guess that disproves Bill Callahan's "f'ing hillbillies" comment...j/k. In all seriousness though, since you're getting into Lincoln on Thursday hit Misty's at 66th(?) & Havelock on Friday night for the prime rib. On Saturday, before the game hit the Watering Hole for some wings and beer. After the game, any place downtown will be gold. One of my personal recommendations (if you guys like to drink alcohol) is Duffy's Tavern. Get a fishbowl of your favorite cocktail. Trust me it is worth it.
  4. I don't think there is any correlation between enrolling early and leaving versus staying simply because there are too many factors and every situation is different.
  5. If true...about f'ing time. The last time Nebraska fielded an attacking, aggressive, defense was, by my recollection, 1999. Coincidentally (rolling eyes) that was the last time we won a conference title.
  6. Oh hush. Scholarship limits have had ZERO impact on college football. /sarcasm.
  7. Our o-line play has been pretty sad to watch since Tenopir was forced out. Neither Cotton or Wagner have been able to really develop any of these guys. I just get the feeling if we had the O-line coach from Wisc or Iowa our line would be a force. Wisconsin, okay I see that. But Iowa? What are you, on dope?
  8. Well sure he's after ratings because that's the nature of the broadcast industry. However, since we have fans who were seemingly so disappointed that we didn't go after any Penn State players it only makes sense that when Mathieu was cut from LSU that someone in the Huskerdom brought it up. I'm nearly certain that other broadcast guys, for other teams across the country, were probably discussing it as well.
  9. Can we keep this thread and discussion about Tyler?
  10. And Knappl, In the other Tyler Moore thread which was locked, I never once referred to you or even hinted that I was even talking about you so I'm not real sure why you became so defensive.
  11. Then what's the problem? Unless he meant FSU's shade of red....
  12. We may have other players waiting to take Tyler's place, but he's a great player and has the potential to be a 1st round pick. We need him to come back, ready and dedicated to play. And you're right, no one knows if Tyler's reported "fu" was directed at Barney-maybe it was maybe it wasn't. But some people here are utterly convinced, without any facts to substantiate their claim or thinking, that Barney is in fact at fault. Speaking of hobbies...off for a run, laters.
  13. But I guess those are two more examples of level-head and warranted criticism. This isn't even from huskerboard, so why even bring that into this thread? Because: a) it is similar to what some have posted here, and b) demonstrates even further precisely what I'm talking about.
  14. Where has this happened? Seems like much ado about nothing. your kidding right! I know. It's like he doesn't realize there are 11 pages, thus far, of examples of what I'm talking about. But sure, there's no hate of Barney in this thread...LOL. I mean, the whole 'Go back to Iowa and take your kids with you, idgaf'... Totally rational. Nail head, meet hammer.

  16. And then there's this from a little blurb on yahoo.com about Tyler leaving (The quotes are in the comments section): But I guess those are two more examples of level-head and warranted criticism.
  17. Where has this happened? Seems like much ado about nothing. This thread, any game thread where Nebraska lost, or where the OL is discussed. All I see is you overreacting, not the unwarranted criticisms you're claiming. If you're going to get this defensive every time someone mentions Barney's name, you're going to be a busy guy. So the guy who in this thread referred to Barney as a POS isn't over-reacting? Further, those people here in this thread claiming Barney is solely responsible for this issue regarding Tyler Moore, when we as a fan base, don't really know what happened at the practice in question, is level-headed and warranted? Sure. Okay.
  18. Because obviously Barney coaches the players to not remember the snap count and further, Nebraska is the only football team ever called for holding. Thats part of coaching the oline, teaching fundamentals. To say nebraska is the only team to get called for holding is stupid, but tell me in all seriousness you have been happy with the oline play. We rushed for 3,000 yards last year, yeah because we have a RUNNING quarterback and one of the best backs in the nation. No I'm not totally happy. I've stated numerous times here that our OL has room to improve. But holy freaking sh**, some of you guys are borderline insane with your comments. I think too many Nebraska fans have grossly unrealistic expectations. Like it or not there is parity in college football and in a given season every team will have one or two bad games as a team. It happens. I would call the game against Northwestern and South Carolina (the second half primarily) as bad. The rest were solid to very good. (Our turnovers against Michigan and Wisconsin have nothing to do with the performance of the OL.) Is it so unrealistic as a fan to ask for improvement over a 4 year period? No, and have we seen that? In my opinion, no way. No it's not. People forget that Nebraska, under TO, every year had OL comprised of almost exclusively of redshirt juniors and seniors. Last year we had a true freshman, redshirt freshman, and sophomore see significant snaps along the OL. Nebraska's OL has improved. The OL had games of utter dominance in '10 and '11 and that's something I couldn't really say in 08 and 09. As Nebraska continues to recruit the kinds of OL that fits Tim Beck's offense, and as the players we have now progress from being freshman to seniors, we're going to see a much better OL going forward. Again, it takes time to build OL depth. We're getting there. It's not perfect and there will certainly be more bumps and setbacks along the way but they will begin to diminish as the offense we're running takes hold.

  20. This notion doesn't make any sense. Because we had some good rushing games, Barney is getting it done on his end? For goodness' sake, Cosgrove kept the occasional opponent under 14 points. That doesn't mean he was a good coach. What doesn't make any sense is the irrational "barney sucks" ranting that invariably always follows any thing pertaining to the OL. Nebraska certainly needs more consistentcy along the OL no doubt. But there's no magic wand or bullet. It takes time to build OL depth. And Nebraska had nearly 3,000 yards rushing last season so somebody is doing at least one or two things right in terms of coaching the OL. I think there are plenty of legitimate criticisms to talk about regarding Barney, Bo and all the other coaches. But this constant drumbeat of negativity has long went past ridiculous. I have never done anything but level legitimate criticisms of Barney Cotton's O Line, and I will continue to do so when I see it continue to underperform. That's perfectly fine. Level-headed, fact-based, criticism is perfectly acceptable. Going off the deep end and reflexively spewing forth a ranting diatribe about how Barney sucks at every turn (like a segment of our fans do), should stop.
