  1. That's because anything positive that happens with the OL is attributed to Garrison and Stai and whatever mistakes or bad things happen are Barney's fault.
  2. I certainly agree that this year will be a unique year in that it will be a continuation of the same philosophy. You're assuming everything is going to get better, and the offensive line is going to become competent though - which remains to be seen. I'm hopeful, but not going to proclaim Cotton as some kind of quality coach until I see it. I haven't in the last 4 years. We may be ranked highly in rushing - but that's because we pass the ball 20 times a game and run 68% of the time. We damn well better be in the top 15. And you mention Cotton's recruiting? What has he done in that department in 4 years? Essentially 2 guys...Klatchko/Thurston. Maybe partial credit for Moudy? He recruited his 3 sons, which doesn't take a lot of work. He's signed up 5-6 Nebraska kids, which is pretty much just making and offer and standing in front of the fax machine. He offered a couple of legacies - which like offering a Nebraska kid is almost a slam dunk. When you sum up Cotton's impact on our recruiting - it ends up equaling one of our worst recruiters. I'm not going to talk about Cotton's recruiting, pro or con, because as to which coaches are recruiting who I honestly don't follow it that closely. And why not assume things will get better? What's the alternative, being needlessly pessemistic and assuming things will just get worse? If that's the way you want to live fine but that doesn't mean I or anyone else needs to join you in your self-imposed doom and gloom. I'm confused by your post here. You claim to not see Barney as competent or a quality coach while simultaneously ignoring our success rushing the ball and solid pass protection. Nebraska was 47th in sacks allowed. Not exceptional to be sure but schools like Wisconsin, West Virginia, UCLA, California, Texas, Georgia, Clemson, South Carolina, Auburn, et al all allowed more sacks than Nebraska. It should also be noted that all those schools have "out-recruited" the Huskers according to practically every recruiting service. It seems to me that you just want to hate on and criticize Barney for no real reason. I get the feeling that Nebraska could in a season rush for 3,000+ yards with a 10+ yard per carry average, pass for 3,000+ yards and only allow one sack and you'd still criticize Barney as a bad coach. The evidence you would cite would be that one sack allowed. I used hyperbole just now sure. But it doesn't change the fact that you will probably never see evidence that Cotton is a good coach because you simply do not want to see it.
  3. I'm waiting for the video where some moron does it for real and gets his arse kicked into next week.
  4. Somebody earlier in this thread said he has already graduated and as such he'll be eligible next fall right?
  5. So what specifically are you not agreeing with?
  6. which is why i'd like to see that 225lb LB take on a fullback 20 times a game....it's something he's not used to, and by the mid-point of the 3rd quarter he'd be a little slower to fill that hole than he was before he got popped a few times earlier in the game. (of course that assumes Barney can coach a line to make a hole in the first place) Nebraska finished 15th nationally in rushing offense in 2011 and was 9th in 2010 so you are "correct" when you doubt that a Barney coached OL can open any holes. so you feel Barney is a good OL coach? Yes I do. Nebraska has one of the top rushing attacks in the nation and they are very good at pass blocking and the statistics bear this out. Even going beyond stats, the importance of being in the same offensive philosophy can not be understated. As Beck and Cotton continue to work together and consistenly recruit the kind of athletes who can thrive in the offense they want to run it'll only get better from here. In my opinion Bo's biggest mistake was listening to Tom Osborne who recommended retaining Shawn Watson. Bo should have said thanks for the suggestion but I'm going to hire my guys to run the type of offense I want from the start. Which was what Florida ran under Urban Meyer-only better.

  8. It's all good bro! And if you infered from what I typed that I was calling you "ignorant" then I sincerely apologize because I certainly did not intend to label you as such. I suspected from the tone of your post that you were more asking questions than anything else. I simply wanted to paint as complete of a picture on the issue as possible and tried to address all your questions. As you know there are people out there who hate and discriminate against gays and especially transgenders and invariably they always say something akin to, "Well you don't see that type of stuff in nature or the animal kingdom" which is obviously false. As for your contention that "surgery won't change a man into a woman" that is strictly your opinion and we can agree to disagree here. Hormone therapy, electrolysis, and gender reassignment surgery can turn a man into a woman and vice versa. I would challenge you though to take some time, step out of your comfort zone, and actually get to know someone who is transgendered.
  9. There are numerous points in your post which need to be corrected or addressed. 1. All children while in the womb begin as female. The hormone testosterone needs to kick in at a certain time in the gestation period to produce a male. And further, while "the system" meaning from conception through birth gets it right most of the time; there are circumstances where children are born with both genitalia, there's too much testosterone or estrogen and that hormone overwhelms the child in the womb. Also there are countless cases where when the baby is born and doctors do not know what the gender of the baby is and they simply "assign" a gender. And you generally cannot tell a boy from a girl until after puberty kicks in anyway. 2. Instances of transgender behavior is not limited to human beings. Certain species of frogs can spontaneously go from male to female and vice versa. Snails incredibly enough have both male and female reproductive organs. Read these links for more information if you wish. http://conservationr...ed-are-natural/ http://books.google....epage&q&f=false 3. Chromosomes may not lie but they can be missing, deformed or there can even be extra chromosomes. Trisomony 21, more commonly known as Down Syndrome, is an instance where there is an extra chromosome so instead of having the normal 46 pairs, 23 from each parent, there are 22 pairs and the 23rd "pair" has three chromosomes. 4. Castration is when only when the testis are removed. Sexual reassignment surgery involves removal of the testis sure but there is also the for simplicities sake the "splitting" of the phallus and folding it inward to create a vaginal entrance. 5. If the reassignment surgery is done correctly it can just from a visual standpoint fool most OBGYN's. They only know what the deal is upon examination because there is not a uterus, fallopian tube, or ovaries. You know what the difference between an ovary and a testicle is? The testicle drops. But medically they are the essentially the same thing. 6. I find it ironic that most people are completely okay with male being gay even an excessively flaming one but if he wants to become a woman that's somehow wrong? 7. You should fall in love with a person not with what they happen to have between their legs because people are more than the sum of their genitalia. Well some guys are nothing but dicks, and some women are a word that rhymes with runts but that's more proverbial than literal. Bucky you are obviously free to have whatever opinion you wish. I would encourage you though to do some research on this topic before you form an opinion though. I personally know a couple of male to female transgender people and outside of going through this process they are just like you, me or anyone else. Further, I believe in the US Constitution and in that awesome document we, as Americans, have the unalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And if someone wants to change gender and that is their pursuit of happiness then who am I to stand in their way?
  10. Many times the cursor will randomly move to another line as I'm typing and it'll cause me to make absurd spelling errors. I try to catch them before I post but sometimes errors slip through.
  11. "I totally get what you're saying but come on at least be grammatically correct" (see post #22 Women's Basketball Thread) Shouldn’t your phrase be more properly posited as a question? In which case it should be ending with a question mark. Not that picky grammatical nuances are a big deal to me, but they seem to be for you. I wasn't asking a question. I was making a statement hence the . and not the ? I used the phrase "shooting yourself in the foot" as a coresponding idiom for the team's penchant the last two seasons for making mistakes which ultimately sinks them. I understand that grammatically it wasn't the best sentence I have ever constructed. But there really isn't a way to pluralize the adage, "shooting yourself in the foot" so that it makes sense grammatically when used in reference to a team with many players and twice as many feet. So if this is a source of consternation for you please put it on my tab and I'll settle the bill at the end of the month Bob Cratchet. No consternation here Aunt Bee..............just playing along since you seem more interested in dissecting and diagramming than in actual content. Plus, the smiley I posted after your first foray into this session should have been a clue no offense was taken. That, and the fact that I explicitly said that. Good. I'll still settle the bill for the egregious error on my part. You think $20 will cover it? The check is in the mail.
  12. I've seen film of Sa'a Cravens and I would dearly love to land that kid because he is an outstanding player. I want to be more positive when it comes to recruiting and I'm actively working on it. Okay so one player that's a start.
  13. I think it is scientifically impossible to quantify Chuck E Cheese as pizza. Soggy cardboard catching motor oil in a car shop is more like pizza. You're such a foodie elitist, that sounds incredibly appetizing.

  15. With that attitude I sincerely doubt you have anything to worry about.
  16. I totally get what you're saying but come on at least be grammatically correct. dominate....verb expressing action...I expect to DOMINATE my opponent. dominant...noun expressing a person, place, thing or idea...Alabama is a DOMINANT team.
  17. When has Nebraska ever been prominent in basketball? Have I been asleep, slipped a rufie, frozen in carbonite or somehow otherwise incapcitated while Nebraska was prominent in basketball?
  18. I sincerely doubt we'll land any of these kids.
  19. If we were cheating we would have signed Andrus Peat and we'd be signing many more elite players.
  20. You should see a dermatologist to get a cream for that...
