  1. so I guess we should have waited until we got down to the 10 yard line so that way the int for a td could have been 95 yards.... I don't see the logic. except for your constant desire to bitch.
  2. Per reports from the weekend scrimmage, you are correct. Both TA and Fyfe forcing throws and making mistakes.... BUT, POB and AJ were going against lesser D.... edit sorry just mentioned by MAV
  3. I won't disagree with this but the narrative on this board is generally that it is the fault of the offense. No one wants to talk about how the defense gave up 55 points and 450 yards. To a team that I don't think scored over 30 in any other games... Right? But all we ever talk about is how bad the offense was. Overall, it was one of the worst games I've ever seen played by Nebraska. On January 1st 1971 I got to stay up late for the first time ever and watched the Huskers beat LSU in the Orange Bowl. In fact, that is the first football game I can remember watching and I've been a fan ever since. In all those years I've never seen the team play as poorly as it did at Purdue this year. I'm guessing you were smart enough to avoid going to the Tech game in Lubbock were they laid 70 on us. I don't recall many turnovers in that game - we just got steam rolled. The purdue game was more like the ISU game where we had like 9 turnovers. Turnovers can drain a team real quick and some turnovers are just bad breaks. I think the purdue loss falls somewhere in the top 10, however everybody talks about how bad it is because it is the most recent.
  4. I'm sure with Harbaugh in charge he told them to round down.
  5. I think the players minds should be on next season the day after their last game. If you are talking on a generic national level I would say it would be on Jan 4th or whatever day follows the NC game.
  6. I'm sure all 5 are friends / not a knock on the LB
  7. There was a very good post made early (I believe by commando) that stated something to the effect. Of how a good thread that should be positive can turn negative so quickly. The answer is CM (that's what trolls do and they love any reaction of any type) If he won't ban himself and move on - it might be time to ignore everything he says....
  8. Are you telling us after your playing days that you have sat down and watched every game that OSU played (past 14 years) and have evaluated the QB decision making compared to TA last year? Impressive!!!!! Didn't watch the games; just looking at the stats. But you raise a good point: I think the reason people are so hard on Armstrong is that they lack perspective on what a "good" versus a "bad" quarterback is at the college level because they assume their guy is making mistakes at a higher rate than other teams. How do you determine decision making from stats????? Also, I made no such point. You came up with that on your own, so that you could make it look like it came from others.
  9. I don't recall AF saying anything close to that - is there a way to search certain posters instead of looking thru 227 individual post? It would be nice to see the post that caused the explosion.

  11. Where are people degrading him? (I'm not asking that to be argumentative - honestly. I just want to read them myself if you have some post numbers or links I could go look at). That should pretty much end that tangent.
  12. ^^^ ..... Coming to a town near you - Soon!!!! Or maybe should have said Committing to a town.....
  13. ^^^^ +1 With no added big man we will be similar to slightly better next year (0 / +2 wins) If we get a big man it will depend if he is ready to play in year 1: not ready +2 / ready + 6 wins) so, worst case 16-18 / best case 24-10
  14. But, But, But they are just cali kids - do they really count? #500MileRadius signed CM
  15. It's always interesting to me that those of us who played CFB tend to be on the same side of these "debates." And fascinating to me how often you criticize people with vastly more experience than you. (Last I checked, everyone on Mike Riley's staff played college football. And then some.) I'm quite sure they would agree with how college athletes should be treated by the masses, including on message boards. Which is the topic at hand. Let me guess who +1 this....... BRV920!!!!
  16. Just wondering what the tweets said. I don't read any except the ones that are cut and pasted into these threads. As I mentioned, that is an interesting concept and being far removed from being a teenager - I never thought about the value of that. I guess I should invest some time into figuring out how to find his twitter info.
  17. It's always interesting to me that those of us who played CFB tend to be on the same side of these "debates." You guys should get together and compare resumes - since the rest of us probably haven't ever set foot on the actual field.
  18. He's saying the exact opposite, unfortunately. He's saying they're tweeting about Husker stuff just to gain followers on social media (the number of followers you have being a form of social currency among teens), even though they know they're not going to Nebraska. Interesting concept.... Link?
  19. My guess is the guys are just playing with us. Gebbia will commit sometime before the spring game and whoever is next among that group of 5/6 guys will commit at the start of the spring game visit - at that point it will be all out crazy!!!!
  20. If I had to take a guess i would say it's his personality. Now that Shields will graduate i believe Tai is the only player remaining that was on the roster for the trip to the dance. Miles basically caught lightening in a bottle with that group. Pettaway and Pitchford were shooting the lights out and they were getting enough from Shields to help keep defenses honest. Pair that with getting stops on the other end and thats a recipe for success. I think the biggest thing that will help Miles is find something your team is really good at and go with it. Whether that be you get out and run and try to get as many possessions as possible or even slowing it down and locking in on the defensive end the team needs some sort of identity. Right now they just aren't consistent enough to be very good. Too much changes from game to game with these guys. I think this is a really solid answer. Just look at the teams that are in the Final Four this year. UNC has always been known as a team that will push tempo and get 70-80 points every game. They recruit to it and are really really good at it. Nova is by far the best defensive team left in the tourney. They get out and run some but most of their transition game comes from creating TO in their 2-2-1 3/4 court press. Syracuse sits in a 2-3 zone and if you can shoot your way to a W then good for you. Oklahoma under Kruger has been known to push tempo and be a really good shooting team. Nebraska just needs to find something it can hang its hat on game in and game out and do it. I don't think fans really care what brand of basketball they play as long as it results in W. UVA over the last 4 years has played the most boring brand of basketball there is but they've been excellent at slowing tempo and grinding teams to death. Nebraska will never be able to recruit at the level of a UNC, Nova, or Syracuse but, as proven this year, there's enough talent to be spread all over the country. Find guys that are good at what you want to do and go with it. Good post.......the only minor quibble I might have is that I think fans would MUCH PREFER an up and down style (not at the expense of winning, of course), but otherwise would be entertained more by running. Most of us have had our full of Cip, Moe, Barry, Doc, et cet. Coincidence that the last sustained period of success was with Nee??........who featured an entertaining style as opposed to working the shot clock with perimeter passing until throwing up a prayer at the buzzer. All other things being equal, I would much rather enjoy a 90 - 87 game in lieu of a 50-47 game..........regardless of the outcome. jmho Agreed. Obviously the fan base would prefer a more fan friendly style of play. But if they can consistently win games by slowing it down and grinding out wins the fans won't complain much. IMO, if we go back to that style of play we fall flat and Miles will be gone.. in short order. Glad that is just your IMO

    2016 RPI

The RPI isn't a voted thing. You are right in that it's a calculation, based on who you have played, your record, and your opponents' records. I don't get why people are freaking out over 2 comeback wins against Illinois. A win is a win, especially in baseball. It's a 9 inning game for a reason. Did people want to take away the Royals' World Series title last year because of all their comeback wins? Comparing coming from behind against Illinois to coming from behind against ANY pro team is just plain silly. This conversation is silly. Illinois is a middle of the road big ten team. They won a series against another big 10 team that is in the top 3rd of the standings. Not sure how that is any different then one pro team that is above average winning by coming from behind against a team in their division that is a few spots lower in that same division. Who scored x amount of runs in which inning has zero weight when it comes to RPI rankings.
  22. Kids need to do the math and understand that we will win 4 NC's in 6 years starting somewhere around 2017
  23. I get what you are saying, however I feel like we are at least back on the map. It feels like somewhere around 2005 we were deleted from all discussion and the latest revision has us back.
  24. Looks to me that they are all laughing at each other because they all know each other are serious about NU - even thou they all look or are acting like they are going elsewhere. Not sure if it is red beverage or if this class is going to blow up!!!
