  1. I dont agree. Hold the person accountable. It was an invasion of privacy. Nothing more, nothing less. We're gonna hold Bo accountable. It damn well better go both ways if they find out who it is. If you look at the rest of the post you quoted, I am refering to physical harm coming to the leaker-weasel. Feel free to damage leaker-weasel's reputation all they want. Can we be sure a "fan" won't take matters into their own hands? Imagine the headlines: "Leaker-weasel sent to hospital after being beaten by angry Husker fan." "Leaker-weasel and family bombarded by threats from Husker fans." I don't know that we need more negative pub right now. And why would the fans be angry about this? It seems like a bizarre, medieval reaction by unthinking people-- "HOW DARE YOU GIVE US INFORMATION THAT UPSETS OUR WORLDVIEW?!" If you're *that* angry at the leaker, then you might have some kind of convoluted defense mechanism at work in your head.
  2. yes he should of know and probably was aware the mic was there. But maybe wasn't told it was on and recording. I'm not a lawyer by any means but work in a call center. When things are being recorded the other person has to be made aware of it. If not then legal issues can be had with the person and or company that did the recording. Now I'm not saying that's the case in any means as I was not in the room. But if Bo and the associate athletic director didn't know. then I wonder if this would or even could turn into a legal case. In Nebraska only one party has to know that the conversation is being recorded. Generally people are told in case there are interstate calls or simply to be decent about it, but there is no legal obligation in NE to inform the other party that you are recording the conversation. That being said, he was in a studio with microphones-- that seems to negate any sort of assumption of privacy. . I didn't know that was the law here. I thought it was the same for all states all parties must be notified of it being recorded. There are only ten states that have an "all-party notify" law; Nebraska is not one of them.

  4. He wants a fan base that doesn't pay attention or react, I guess. We can make him happy by not being upset when the team gets embarrassed again (though, I suppose, the other side of that coin is a fan base that doesn't really care either way).
  5. Ack. This read like an obit. I was worried for a second.
  6. I'd like to think that they have a good reason and aren't trying to make him be something he's not... That's just based on a belief that they know how to do their jobs; however, there also seems to be a stronger belief in "systems" than in players sometimes. I *hope* they aren't trying to make players be parts of their system instead of trying to shape a system to get the most out of their individual components. As a microcosmic example, I was at the UT game back when Lord was at the offensive helm and NU mounted a wicked comeback. The game ended with a pass thrown from inside the red zone (I want to say it was around the 5 yard line) that was picked off by a Longhorn. I couldn't be mad at Lord because it was the decision of the coaches to have a runner (and not particularly strong passer) pass in such an key situation. It was still one of the best games I've ever seen.
  7. Does it matter if Armstrong is ready or not? Based on Saturday's performance, an unready player would fit into this game plan very seamlessly.
  8. Are you kidding me? So nebraska just happens to recruit the only players in the country that can't tackle? Coaches and the way they run practice have nothing to do with it? It's just the players who all happen to have been incompetent tacklers for the past several years? LOL.......if you are a highly recruited player coming out of HS and have to be taught how to "tackle".........there is an issue LOL Cracks me up........."the coaches aren't teaching them them how to tackle" LMAO Then I guess that would be on the coaches if they are a high rated HS recruit but have to be taught how to break down and tackle someone.........my bad LOL I though most scholarship players learned how to tackle in pop warner when they were 8........should be past the teaching point for the most part by the time they are 19 or 20 in my mind. Sorry I just find it funny that bad tackling gets put on the college coaching staff.........the players need to take some responsibility for it.........just like playing with not heart or guts........that should have to be taught at the top college level So you think these people who were just playing against high school kids last year don't need to be taught how to play at the D-1 level? So kids who get 4.0 in high school never need to study in college because "LOL they ...... already... LMAO know everything they need.... LOL and ....... need to ........ be taught ........... how to do college level work....... LOL LMAO." It's a different game, and, believe it or not, they need to practice basic skills as the skill level of their opponents increase or, well, we see the results on the field every week. You may "LOL" or "LMAO" at the notion of practice, but it really makes you look foolish. To believe your POV, you have to believe that teams with outstanding defenses are recruiting some kind of players who are genetically predisposed to tackling.

  10. Seriously? If the guy was in my backyard without knocking on my door to inform me first would have had either a 9mm pointed at his temple or an AR-15 from a distance. I don't care for people trampling on my property without permission, especially at night. He would have also had my dogs charging him as soon as the door opened. I live in Oklahoma, so in Detroit I would be a lot worse on my protection. Along with how many sicko's/stalkers are out there that will do anything to get to their "hero". Utilities have an easement; that type of response of that of a paranoid shut-in.
  11. I will bring us embarrassing losses at home for a million. I'm not greedy.
  12. Just went and checked some random games from the late 70s through the 80s and early 90s (ignoring the NC seasons). The only games that I saw that were close season-opening, non-conference games were against top 25 opponents. A #1 Alabama that won 20-3 was probably the worst. I didn't see any (and I didn't check them all, but I wasn't being selective, either) apparent struggles with non-ranked non-conference opponents. What's the opposite of rose-colored glasses? Smog-colored? Looking back with smog-colored glasses to make the present seem less bad? That seems like it should be a thing.
  13. hid·ing 2 [hahy-ding] noun Informal. a severe beating; flogging; thrashing. Old people (sigh).... Dictionaries-- how do they work?
  14. As far as I could tell, he was just there because he voiced a promo about NU's Academic All-American record. He was offered a scholarship to play linebacker somewhere, but didn't. That's what I gathered, anyway.
  15. Yes! I ran out to the rest room and got back just in time for the Sims-Pillen meet. That was just great and set up perfectly. When Frost made the jab about Osborne's hands shaking in the 97 Missouri game and followed it up with, "Now his hands shake because, well, he's old," I thought that crossed over into roast territory. Osborne got him back good with, "Scott was right, my hands were shaking when I made that call, but they were shaking because I knew we had to pass."
  16. Fowler was great. I'd never thought he hated NU (or if he does, he was professional in hiding and inverting it into some Husker love).
  17. Re: A Little long-- yes. I didn't understand all of the musical impersonators. I thought that Sinatra was okay and *almost* made sense. Once the Neil Diamond thing started I was a little puzzled, and the interminable Michael Jackson set was baffling. Seriously-- if they had done just the interviews, the stories, the tribute videos, dinner, and maybe Sinatra during dinner (I liked that he was in the middle and not on the main stage, which almost always involved, at some point, a spotlight in my eyes). I probably would have gone autograph hunting if I'd thought to get my Osborne ball earlier. I really waned Osborne and Switzer's signature on my ball. My host's son-in-law is a Texas fan and got a picture with Stoops doing the horns and inverted horns, respectively. Questionable entertainment choices aside (I can't have been the only person laughing at the dance troupe's dancing of Osborne's life, can I? It was straight out of Parks and Recreation-- completely hilarious), it was a pretty amazing evening. Switzer, again, was just great and told some fantastic stories. He was having a hell of a time. Hmm... I wonder if he would have signed that wine bottle! That would have been perfect. ETA: Oh! And how great was it when Switzer started gushing about Husker fans?! I wish they would have had him on stage for an hour. "Bob Devaney! I don't know where you are, but I know you had something to do with this!!!"
  18. Sorry, Chamberlain?????? Frost's little toast/speech included a history lesson about some of the things that happened in 1937-- (Paraphrasing) "1937 was also the year the people of the United Kingdom elected Neville Chamberlain as their Prime Minister. Chamberlain is, of course, known for his policy of appeasement which essentially let his neighbors walk all over him. Coincidentally, Bill Snyder adopted the same policy in 1989." (Snyder was there).
  19. I was at the table next to Switzer, Stoops, and the ESPN crew. Sometimes there are things that make you say, "I never thought I'd see that..." but all that's meant is that it seemed very unlikely. Tonight, I saw Barry Switzer sing the chorus of "Sweet Caroline" with a Neil Diamond impersonator and immediately turn to steal the bottle of wine off my table. I never thought I'd see that. Seriously, not a series of events I'd even considered would happen. It was an interesting time (especially Frost's "Chamberlain" blast at Snider). (I'll post a pic later-- it's too big to upload).
  20. I love how being "wildly critical of Bo" disqualifies someone's opinion. This board and it's idiotic love affair with Bo is pathetic. Bo Pelini is not head coach material. I have zero faith in him and he's really not a good guy. He's a complete dick. Him and his weasel brother have done nothing but bring shame to the University. I understand what my stance on this subject now does to my credibility on this board, but I guess I'm fine with that. I really only linger here and am wildly entertained by all the sunshine pumpers here and blind loyalty to a scumbag like Bo. Please let the Sasquatch bashing and questioning of my status as a true fan begin now... I'm not a "sunshine pumper" nor am I in an ersatz "idiotic love affair with Bo." But let's face it, Bo could win the MNC, going undefeated while holding opponents to 1.5 points or less in each game and allowing opponent offenses to rack up a staggering -53 yds of Total Offense and Dirk would find some way to be critical of Bo i.e. accusing him of showboating or <gasp> running up the score and making all of Husker Nation look bad because, well, let's face it, we're "better" than that. I have no issue with media mouthpieces being "wildly" critical of Bo. My issue is when your entire journalistic prowess relies solely on pointing out the staff and team weaknesses. Yes, clearly Dirk just doesn't like Bo because of all the games he wins and his awesome defense. All of his criticisms are unfounded.
  21. +a million. The AD is not just responsible for football. That isn't true, because if he wasn't, then Peterson woudln't have been fired because he was good at everything else. Analogy: "The sitter isn't responsible just for the baby; there are three other kids." "That isn't true, if she wasn't, you wouldn't have fired katie when the baby drowned."
  22. Wow, I was loading the car and came back in to see the current score (16-14)! Wow! I hope I can get reception in the car for the whole game!
