  1. I went to KState. They have done a nice job with all the updates they've done there. I was just saying the location sucks. JMO. The point being though, Memorial needs to be where it is. I agree though about what Trev was trying to do.
  2. Being a Rockies fan (you heard that right) and seeing what Coors did for downtown is impressive. KC's downtown, at least when I lived close, was an afterthought. I think a plan like this can go a long way in making it a place to live, work, play, etc. The KC sports complex, in my eyes, is awful. There's nothing around it, yeah, sure, maybe the tailgating is good but whatever. The renderings were awesome. I much prefer a downtown setting. Which is why you can NEVER move Memorial, unless it's a block over. All these people wanting a dome halfway between Omaha and Lincoln don't get it. Go to a game at KSU then Lincoln. Totally different experience and one is way better! I only get back to one game a year but I absolutely LOVE the experience of staying downtown and walking through campus to the game. If they ever moved it away from that area I honestly don't know if I'd bother, probably just watch on the flat screen.
  3. I have also thought about the sales tax aspect of this. But maybe it's tied to Lincoln hotels and a bit heftier than 1/8 cent. Not to thread jack, but what do the Royals do now? I'm surprised the ballot measure failed. IS a KC KS burb willing to do it?
  4. Good question. How much of the 450 mill was for south stadium? I know there were a lot of other modernization things throughout east and west in that as well, and I believe with the vacated north stadium. I just wouldn't have any idea how much that costs. If south is 250 of the 450 then just pair it down to the south in this go round. If its 400 of the 450 well then ok.
  5. I'm no structural engineer but I would guess a good part of the answer is how well it's been maintained over the years. Up until BB was the AD it sounds like it was fairly neglected. Listening to Unsportsmanlike Conduct this afternoon and the guys were talking about it. They were making some good points about fairly soon something needing to be done, especially with south. And the longer it's delayed the more difficult and expensive the remediation will be. One emailer who is a south stadium ticket holder said it takes 1/2 a quarter to go to the bathroom. That's absolutely ridiculous. Imagine if they were selling beer?
  6. Just one more thing SP effed up. They tore down the field house, should have just taken it all the way and done what they are proposing in the south.
  7. That's what worries me. Please please please don't just put lipstick and rouge on the south stands. I really wish they would have just bitten the bullet before north stadium expansion and demo'd the stadium and built anew on that site. I know that would have meant some massive inconvenience for a few years but they could have built something very nice for 500 and we wouldn't have this mess. As it is now, I'd like to see them complete the south as envisioned, then about 10 years down the road tear out the risers on the upper and lower decks in east and west (not at the same time of course) and rebuild them, you could make it all essentially one level and redo everything underneath. By doing this you get the fans in row 1 a bit closer to the sideline and higher up, and you get rid of those god awful obstructed view seats under the upper deck. Essentially the original stadium would be the columns and exterior facade.
  8. A couple things to think about IMO. The version from Trev already reduced the capacity 7k (some due to chairbacks in the rest of the stadium I'm sure). So scaling it back to what hooked posted likely takes another 10k off here I would guess, The other thing to note is that 450 had a lot of other improvements outside south stadium. I say do south stadium and then take care of all that other stuff a little farther down the line. As for the Longwhorns, much different project scope and some years ago. Things aren't what they used to be cost wise. that 150 million yesterday is probably 225 or more today.
  9. Nothing official here, but kind of a cool video I stumbled upon. I wish whoever did this fleshed the idea out a little more. Like show it from a distance without the animation.
  10. Can't wait to see some better renderings on what exactly the south stands will look like. I've heard that may be a year out.
  11. I've never seen a poster have so many good ideas like red hedges, etc, followed by garbage ideas like tarping east stadium. Those are some great seats up there, although you don't feel quite the same atmosphere as you do lower. These seats aren't any higher than any NFL stadium that seats 70k and has all chairbacks.
  12. I still don't get people acting like our athletic department can't do more than one thing at a time. We have to build the team before we worry about the stadium, etc. Trev can address all at the same time. He's already put the football staff in place that he thinks will turn the tide. He gave Rhule ample salary to hire the guys he wanted. He's got a huge support staff. Doing the stadium project isn't taking from NIL, what we can pay coaches, or anything else. South stadium has been an eyesore for too long, and I've only sat there once, but apparently it's an enormous pain in the arse to get in and out of, get concessions, etc. This is long overdue and the perfect time to do it IMO.
  13. Not sure how long this has been up and running, but here is a live feed from the back of the new complex. LIVE FEED
  14. I would prefer one of these two: Is that Nebraska Republic shirt actually sold anywhere? That's honestly kinda funny. It is. I just ordered one, I think it's hilarious. Link.
  15. I didn't figure it would go up much higher than that. But I am disappointed they didn't do the brick on the street level (under "int the deed the glory").
  16. IMO, it's just a couple of tweaks from being a really nice alternate. First off, I am a fan of the monochrome (as long as it isn't monochrome white), but it needs a belt to break it up just a bit. Second, if you can change the sans serif N to black, why not do the iron N for a game? Third, speaking of black, dump it! So sick of the BFBS trend. All the black elements change to a cream and this uni is a winner. It's the best of the three but still needs a few tweaks.
  17. Plain Jane Beautiful. Beautiful. BEAUTIFUL! How far up will the brick go on the west? My guess is it covers the basic concrete looking areas. So just up to the flags in this picture. I would prefer that it went all the way up over the arched windows on the sides but it's probably not going. A welcome addition regardless.
  18. Really wish I could find that King of House for download somwhere.
  19. Why is it even needed?? Seriously, 2 ribbon boards, 1 GIANT bigscreen and 4 smaller ones. Don't we have enough information points as it is??
  20. I think you are right on OSU not making the NC game. As for last year, I wouldn't say they had zero pressure on them. Have you ever been on a team HS or College that was deep in the season and undefeated? Now multiply that by 1,000 and you get the pressure of being undefeated, even without a post season game, at schools like Ohio State, Michigan, and Nebraska. As a note, most teams need luck on their side to end the season undefeated. I see a one loss OSU vs a one loss Nebraska in the championship game. Maybe it would have been more accurate to say "nothing to lose." There is always pressure, but I don't think it's quite the same without postseason play. Agree that there is almost always some luck involved. OSU just didn't pass the eye test for me last year. Maybe it's just my astigmatism.
  21. Teams with a chance to win the Legends: NU NU Mich MSU Teams with little to no chance: Iowa Minnesota Teams with a chance to win Leaders: OSU Wisc Teams with little to no chance: PSU Ill Indiana Purdue Doesn't seem like there's much in the way of having original thoughts here. MSU may be a stretch, but it's not super unlikely. So, essentially, you have 3-4 teams to pick from in the Legends and 2 in the Leaders, PSU won't have enough depth. Regarding OSU in the MNC, I don't see it happening. I don't think they are that good, they were VERY lucky last year to go 12-0 and had ZERO pressure on them.
  22. Not sure that was ever the plan and not sure it's really needed. It was on one render of the stadium, but that wasn't a very accurate rendering to begin with.
  23. Which is why it will never happen. Unless the idea was more suites and have them closer to the field. But just for regular seats? No way.
  24. Not true, in fact, just the opposite. Second deck will be vertical, not horizontal thus closer to the action. Similar to west stadium dimensions and design (less pressbox) Hey ColoradoHusk, I'm bored ....... my dream project Existing south stadium was a tinker toy construction thus fairly easy to demolished section by section. 2/3 of first deck still there after final product, only 1/3 destroyed. In fact just leave it .... NO demolished at all. Then simply build the second deck on top of first deck (vertical stacking) IMO, this is what they should have done (similarly speaking) to the north stadium on the last project. They botched that IMO. What they should have done is put the suites at the top of the old part of that stadium, then built the extra seats as an upper deck on top with extra concessions, restrooms, and exit/entry points. It would have looked much better. It would have been feasible too as they tore down the old field house and all. I could actually live with the south being the only odd part, or north for that matter, if at least one of them fit more with the east and west stadium.
