  1. F’n dumbest team in America 9 years running
  2. Maybe not, but I need a 42-7 type win in my life again, it’s been too long
  3. LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO. TIME FOR SOME LONG AWAITED PAYBACK AGAINST THESE WEST PROGRUMS. POUR IT AWNNNNNN
  4. I was about to say the same thing. Honestly the prettiest thing I’ve seen collectively on offense all year lol
  5. These refs are horrendous, clearly our ball also, nothing like our returner using his chest plate to catch a punt, some great fundamentals…. Can we not just identify one guy to return punts and make sure he’s fundamentally sound?!
  6. Lol, horribly coached is a bit harsh. They’re working with a roster where maybe 1-2 guys would play for a top 25 team. 1-2 might be a stretch, probably more like 0
  7. Horrendous coverage by hartzog there, an average qb completes that for a TD, you simply cannot get blown by when you’re playing 9 yards off the line of scrimmage
  8. Can’t even say it was a stupid play, all the stupidity rests on the player there. Subpar players trying to do way too much
  9. Pretty fundamental rule in kick returns. If your role is typically to block, you don’t return and you have minimal shot to break it big because you’re slow as dirt you run a bit and then just dive on the ground. elementary level IQ still exists on this team, inexcusable
  10. Man the situational awareness of our players is still in the gutter. Saw that fumble on the kickoff a mile away
  11. Great point. It’s not like we were stacked with playmakers in the first place.
  12. Of course they have a high powered offense, I never said they didnt. My response was to a poster saying the perception that its tough to throw in oct/nov in the midwest is an overblown stance from the past. Having been at countless games at memorial and across the big ten/big 12 come late fall and the wind is whipping with a crisp cool air, i couldnt disagree more.
  13. Throwing for 250 yards is not what I would consider a high powered offense. We will never have the depth and quality of athletes of Ohio state so there’s no point in using them as a peer example. I already mentioned purdue
  14. feels like in recent history (past 5-10 years) no one in the west besides us and Purdue try to do anything explosive on offense. Everyone for the most part is playing field position game and limiting mistakes. I’m interested to see how fickell’s experiment in Madison will work out given what he’s expressed. using Wisconsin- I think they’ve actually put up some great offenses the past decade (before Christ really implemented his style) but they don’t always appear explosive if purely looking at stats. They had some filthy offenses around those lines and backs. Didn’t they take down Oregon and a few other teams in new years bowls in some high scoring affairs?
  15. Im going to get roasted for this, per usual, but its all about geography and proximity to talent. While the Midwest produces some quality skill position players every year, simple statistics will show that schools in east, south and west, with much larger and more metro areas are simply going to produce more. This is backed up by many data points but if you simply overlay a map where all the espn 300 recruits are located each year , you’ll find almost a U shape that stretches from California, to Texas, all over the south and then up the eastern seaboard. Ohio state is a major outlier because they are the only major P5 program in a state that has talent (not counting cinci in this that historically has not been P5). States like Texas, Florida and California individually have more people and metro areas than most of the big ten region combined. If I’m a head coach, it’s a helluva lot easier for me to visit 20 4-5star recruits in a few days compared to the Midwest, it’s simple proximity, travel logistics and limited time in the day. Another thing, most of the big ten teams are run heavy because you can find lineman and it’s a b!^@h to throw the ball starting in late October and November. Run heavy teams are never going to fare well in generalized offensive stats that tends to favor points, yards and various stats that are largely ranked off quantity in descending order.
  16. Diamond formation with hh, simms, Malachi and fleeks
  17. I think it boils down to the fact that Simms simply has the yips. I dont know how else you can explain those dropped snaps in boulder. His int at the end of the first half against minnesota was inexcusable for a veteran QB- you either throw to an open guy or ya throw it out of the back of the end zone and kick a FG, instead he threw it into double coverage right to minny. His int in the 2nd in boulder was horrific, completely gave the game away in addition to the dropped snaps. While HH did put us in the hole against NW, none of his turnovers come even close to the ones I outlined above. We'd be better off leveraging Simms in a bobby newcombe type capacity. He clearly has wheels, let's sprinkle in some formations where its a reverse pass or option pass. Make the defense think a bit. Some fans might not like this but HH is a convenient as hell option for Rhule. In state kid, has the team rallied around him, rhule has a cop out excuse to go find an upgrade in the portal (please with no turnover history). If rhule goes back to Simms and simms is the same choke artist he was, rhule faces the possibility of losing this team for this year and losing the goodwill he's built up with the fans, quickly.
  18. You are limited in college as to how many official positional coaches you can have. Sure, you can have GAs and behind the scenes folks, but these personnel are extremely limited on how much practice time they can participate in and cannot travel/recruit. Lets say Rhule changes his mind and wants a dedicated QB coach beyond Satt- who are you removing from that list? I'm not changing a thing about the defensive coaches. The only coaching position I can see them folding into one would be WR/TE. I don't see Rhule going this route if he truly wants a power run/control the clock and win with defense type of team. Plus, there are high quality TEs to be had in the midwest that require a dedicated coach- Iowa has feasted on this position for a decade now, some of the players couldve easily been a husker instead. I also don't see us combining OL & TE together- jury is still out as to if Raiola can even do the OL coaching job, I'm not handing him the keys for TE on top of it when he has enough on his plate as is.
  19. He actually said : “they also sign better QBs” not sure what your measuring stick for gauging recruiting better QBs is than to going off their rating out of hs. if you really wanna spend a few minutes of your day arguing semantics of another posters wording, go ahead. To me- sign better qbs is elevating the talent and stature of the talent you’re bringing in. Tomato tomatoe
  20. very true. same can also be said for whoever the OC is. Most maligned role in this progrum for 15 years now
  21. Maybe I’m misreading this but isn’t he playing better this year? Lol
  22. I wouldn’t be opposed… tho to be fair, Georgia just went back to back with a qb who was a 2/3* depending on the recruiting service you look at
  23. We most certainly do have a qb coach. I think cheekygeek is simply living up to the former part of his name and not so much of the latter. The passion, dare I say cheekiness is there, but for a geek I would expect a bit more familiarity and understanding of how our staff is structured.
