  1. Yes, but why? Why on earth would you want to leave when you have the world by the tails and you are a household name as a freshman? I just don't get it. I mean, can anyone be this ignorant/stupid?
  2. Edmond. I wouldnt worry about OU. There fans are just like thier program. Riddled with cheating. Never understood NU fans pulling for OU in football. They have been on probation more times than one can count, and then they name buildings after cheaters (Switzer Center) as if, oh well, we know he cheated, but who cares, we are OU.
  3. Nahh, they dont think that............ http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148494
  4. NU needs to win this game just to avoid all the "go to a confrence where you can compete" crap talk. If it loses to the Land Thieves this weekend, it will be open fire on NU and its fans. This is a must win game IMO!!
  5. No, we don't. Put aside the reports from campus corner in Norman and the internet bravado displayed at soonerfans.com: what else would one expect from those sources? You'd as well walk through downtown Lincoln and poll the crowds on the exact opposite proposition, and then post "They Think They Are gonna smoke OU" on the soonerfans.com board. It doesn't compute, as a rational test of the actual perceptions out there. The truth of the matter is, outside of the Quad in Norman & the largest internet site on the web dedicated to catering to the most passionate Sooner fans, there is a good deal of anxiety about this game - though in a good way. There is no consensus that we're going to "smoke" Nebraska in the slightest - indeed, the general feeling is that it's going to be a close-run thing - and beyond that, there is a kind of consensus that there is absolutely no better way to close out the Big 12 conference (and trust me; in a few years it's going away, and we'll be gone, too): Oklahoma vs. Nebraska. There is a feeling that God has indeed proven His existence with this denouement of the in-conference rivalry between our two storied programs - and shown He has a love of college football tradition & history, to boot. It's going to be a great game: and there could simply not be a better, or more respected, opposite number for us all to go our separate conference ways on. Period. These are the things that are on 95% of OU fan's minds. I really doubt that. Listen to the sports animal, they most all believe OU will win this game handily. I'm just saying, from most that I have heard from, most believe it will be an easy OU win. Some of the fans are already looking forward, after this game. I'd definately say the general consensus around here is OU will win this game and win it handily.
  6. I thought this also. I told a few of my OU buddies that I hope OU throws it 50-60 times. I would be forever grateful if NU rolled the Land Thiefs and perennial NCAA probation riddled program by 3 or 4 td's. It would be sooooooo sweet. That said, I will take an ugly 12-11 win just as well!!
  7. We had better, or we will not hear the end of it. NU needs to take the Big 12 Championship with it to the Big 10.
  8. I live here in OKC, and it seems the media, fans think that OU will not only win, but win comfortably. It will be hard to live here if that happens, however, I think NU might just roll this OU squad. Check out soonerfans.com. Any thoughts?
  9. Ours (NU's) was even nastier. Welcome my friend, but it would not have been close.
  10. Shoot......I'll even go a bit further and say had Michigan had to play NU in 1997, they would still be waiting for a title in the modern era. Geez, it would be some 60+ years. They plain got lucky, period, with the Big 10/Pac 10 not wanting on board with everyone else. And its not just me who feels this way, most college football fans know as much, (Vegas would have made NU a 8-9 point favorite as I remember) unless you are associated with Michigan football. They know it as well, but would never admit it.
  11. I really hope you are not serious with this comment? People forget that had that pass fallen incomplete, it would have been 4th down and one or two seconds still on the clock, time for another play. Michigan only has a share because they didn't have to play NU. NU would have lit that team up, BIGTIME. They would have suffered the same wrath Tennessee and Peyton Manning did. Sometimes, you need a little luck to win a title. NU won that game at Mizzou fair and square and would have killed Michigan. Michigan fans (secretely) are lucky they didnt have to play NU, most knowing they would have been smoked! Still irks me NU had to share that title.
  12. I am all for it. It is a road game, and NU is unbeaten on Thursday nights. Don't like giving up home games, but a road game is cool, plus, it gets the National spotlight for that night.
  13. i regret ever saying that. however, the fear of the upset is greater in the SEC (i don't know why i keep trying) i just think that every game is like a rivalry game in the SEC, it is harder to win in that conference and stay on top. i guess if i was just to sum it up and say it in one concise sentence; the expectations are are too unrealistic for every team where coaches at Mississippi State get fired. Granted, Iowa St. did fire their coach before Chizik, so i guess i may or may not know what i am talking about. but i still contend, with great backlash, that the SEC is intense, hard to be a coach in, and the fans have incredibly unrealistic expectations (Spurrier is on the hot seat... at South Carolina a school with no football history and a rather lewd mascock) Thats fair. Remember this though, the heavyweights in the Big 12 have "unrealistic expectations" as well. I'd say we know this all to well.
  14. Common man, that just is not true. Even the "mighty" sec has some weak teams in it (Miss St, Vandy, hell even S. Car) I mean, Line'em up, stack to stack. Our Baylor could play with thier Baylor's, and our powerhouses can play with thiers, and have. OSU should have beaten Mississippi in the Cotton Bowl, they were there own worst enemey. Nebraska, OU or texas can play with any of thier heavyweights and the middle of the Big 12 can play with thier middle as well.
  15. Which would beg the question, how much would NU have struggled if everything was exactly the same as this year, but Ganz is the starter?
  16. And 1999 was the last great defense NU had, until this year. NU was the best team in the land in 1999, and aside from a few breaks (fumbles ), it wins it all in 1999.
  17. You are mistaken if you think/believe NU can't pay, if and when necessary. NU has not ever needed to pay that way, so far. It had Osborne, who wasn't a money grubler, then Solich, then Clownahan, who never could win enough to get paid and was fifty times overpaid as it was. Now, NU has Bo, when he wins a championship, he will see the big jack. It appears as though Bo is not all about the money. Hell, if he has watched his money over the past 15 years, he is probably already set for life. If it comes down to the cash NU can and probably will pay. NU has competant leaders in charge.
  18. I think not. Iill bet you NU is in the top ten sooner than five years pass. Once they get there, it will be hard to remove them. NU would have damn sure been better than 27-22 and TWO losing seasons under Bo. I believe we have one solid coach here at NU. Very good things coming in the near future.
  19. We would have NEVER had a losing season and would be a top 5 power today. Amazing that someone who makes that much money and has that kind of power (pederson) could have made such a boneheaded stupid decision. What the hell. Just utterly amazing NU fans had to suffer through 4 miserable years of crappy football . Any thoughts?
  20. Callahan was a complete disaster. Even his "good" teams sucked and layed eggs. It was a disaster of epic proportions as far as football goes. Had NU hired Pelini in 2003, it would have been at least 37-12 after four years instead of 27-22. And had he been hired then, NU would be a fixture in the top 10 now instead of having to clean up all of Clownenburgers trash. Sure, Bo had some stuff to learn and still does, but the point is, had we hired him then NU would have been a whole hell of alot better than Callahans trash put forth in four years.
  21. Its been passed time for this since 2004. And he can take the Head Coach with him for all I care. I just get sick and tired of the no talent excuse. We have talent, enough to play with a team like USC, especially at home. Its COACHED HORRIBLY. Seems like our guys on both sides of ithe ball are trying to read things so much, that by the time they see the damn thing, its past them. I just cannot believe we gave this cat an extension. I knew from day one we screwed up, and we adding years to his contract? Bad bad management!!
  22. Sorry to inform you, but I see losses on the horizon, many of them. We could EASILY lose to Mizzou, Texas, A&M, KSU, and KU. Will NU lose all of those games? Probably not. Realistically, they will go 2-3 in those games, leaving in at 8-4.
  23. Thats it. You cannot make a living on sleepers. When all is said and done, if you can maintain an average of say about 10 over a four year period, you will not run into many, if any teams you cannot deal with talent wise. I'd mostly like to see NU get its star average up a bit. I'd prefer to see it average around 3.50 to 3.60 over a four year period.
