  1. Question for you all. I played basketball in high school and went to UNO on a full ride academic scholarship and because of pickup games was asked to try out for the Mavericks back in the day, always a husker fan though. Question is, why do we not have our hands up on defense? It is a fundamental aspect of the game on defense. Cuts down passing lanes, less time to move your hands up for blocked shots, causes more stress on the offense, etc. Why do we have our hands down by our sides all game long?
  2. Just checked it out online. That's perfect. Thanks teachercd!!!
  3. My 17-year-old son and I are making our first ever road trip for Husker FB this year, to Evanston vs the Cats. Any advice on things like tailgating, parking, etc?
  4. I say we'll be okay, and thank you Coach Bolt for your dedication & hard work for the program, both as player and coach. Good luck, and we'll see you in Omaha!!!
  5. A lot of good points of view here. Interesting to read everyone's take. My thought is much like the situation with the carpet dumpster-diving scenario. I bet this is simply a thing where these two thought people are just abandoning the bikes, and the university's going to seize them in a few days anyway, so why not get there first and take the bikes? I bet it's just that simple, and they didn't have the enough frontal lobe material to fully think it through. Per a medical journal I read: The executive function of the frontal lobes involve the ability to recognize future consequences resulting from current actions, to choose between good and bad actions (or better and best), override and suppress socially unacceptable responses, and determine similarities and differences between things or events.
  6. According to the Warren Nolan RPI (uses same formula as NCAA), Nebraska was at #36 prior to NW series. "The Nitty Gritty Report" they have ranks all teams by RPI and highlights thiose that are leading their respective conference. Right now if all leaders won thier conference (31 teams), that would leave 33 at large bids. However, Omaha is one of them and can't play post-season. That makes 34 open slots. By that, Nebraska currently would have to be at least #47 if they go from top down and give at large bids. After the loss on Friday, we only dropped to #40. After Saturday though, we dropped down to #56. Now this week, with no games played by the Huskers, teams that we've beaten have helped out by winning along with some of the teams right around us getting beat. We've climed back up to #48. If we can just go out and win about 10 out of the last 14, we should move up to about #40 and still get an at-large bid. Just take care of our own business, and let the rest take care of itself!!!
  7. As of April 15th, College Baseball Daily has the Huskers projected to go to the Austin regional as a 3 seed, along wtih Texas (1), Dallas Baptist (2), and Ball State (4). http://www.collegebaseballdaily.com/2014/04/15/2014-ncaa-regional-projections-april-15th/ Would love to go there and knock out the cows again!!!
  8. Just got home from work. Trying to find stream online. can someone send me the link?
  9. Huskers-Jays game for today has been postponed to tomorrow at 5:00 PM. http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=101&SPID=33&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=209437993&DB_OEM_ID=100
  10. I have heard a couple of things this week. Kubat was having a little trouble finding the zone in the first couple weeks of practice, but it was mostly a mental thing. Being a perfectionist, he and the coaches thought it better to sit out the first weekend or so until he got the mojo going. Now he has it going again and was available last weekend if needed. Should be available this weekend too. Reveles tweaked a hammy during the win over Washington on Saturday night, and is not likely to travel this weekend, according to my source.
  11. Hoping Big Red can go at least 2-1 this weekend. OSU is looking every bit early on to be worthy of their national ranking. It was nice that the guys had some days to be able to practice outside this week. I think that will make a big difference this weekend.
  12. No kidding. That's brutal. And I thought the guys had it tough early on last year.
  13. Here's one I posted in the GT: Husker Classic thread earlier today, so posting it here too: Don't know if you all heard it or not, but this morning on the Sharp and Benning show on 1620 the Zone, Gary Kubat (Kyle's father) was a guest and said Kyle is now ready to go and will be making the trip to AZ this weekend. Most likely not starting, but should get a few innings in. Below is the link to the podcast, and Gary Kubat comes on at about the 8:00 mark. If the link doesn't work, just copy and paste it into your browser line at the top of a new browser window. http://www.stationca...c=981&f=2454143

  15. Great start for the season! A little weak in the early innings, but they got it going. Will give them something to look back on and remember this season when down by a few runs.
  16. FINALLY!!! Will be listneing online at work. Hope I can be productive! Not great at multi-tasking...
  17. Huskers heading to AZ today. The wheels are rolling. Two days to go!
  18. I've heard Deleon, Bummer, Sinclair, and Burkamper as the four. Kubat is out and not traveling to AZ this weekend. Not sure why yet.
  19. Ten days to go! Can't get here fast enough. Anyone know what is taking BTN so long to put out a media schedule for the baseball season? Also, are any of the first two weekends' games being carried online or anywhere else other than Husker radio?
  20. Having followed the baseball team as a relatively so-so fan from about the time of D.E. to about 2008, and then becoming a real avid Husker baseball fanatic after that, I don't remember if there has been as much buzz about a Husker pitching group like this year's group since maybe the 2005 team. Would that seem about right?
  21. I want to see the Huskers come out minumum 2-1 in both the first two weekends. Would love to see a sweep of the Beavers, since they have a game in each of the first two weekends, but even a split will tell us where we are at after playing the #4 ranked team in the Collegiate Baseball News preseason rankings. Nice to see the Skrs getting votes in that poll. Also love the idea of the B1G - Pac 12 challenge. It's a chance for Nebraska, IU, and MSU to make a statement early on in the season. B1G 9-0 over the Pac 12 for the weekend. That would be sweet!!!
  22. I have a dilema I need help with. When I was a kid in the 70's, my dad took me to many Husker home football games. While leaving one Nebraska - Oklahoma game after a disappointing loss, I overheard (as many others did) one man saying that Tom Osborne "didn't know his head from his a$$ when calling the offense. He's the reason we lost this game - AGAIN." The guy saying this was from my hometown, and his son recently became vice-president of a rural bank. Should I come forward about this now?
  23. Huskers need a sweep badly, after not taking the series last week against OSU! Hope they can focus this weekend like they did on Tuesday. Nice thing is that they control their destiny in the B1G at this point.
  24. Thanks all for the advice on getting to Manhattan. Left Elkhorn at 3:20 and got there just as the national anthem was playing, stopping once in Beatrice for a quick pit stop. My son has grown up in a time where all he has heard about road games is how much people at Boulder, Manhattan, and Columbia hate us. K-State fans were very gracious and welcomed us with open arms. This was his first true road game of any Husker sport, and he said he had a ball even with the Huskers losing. Helps that apparently he was shown in a shot on TV. Heard it from people at work. Going back down next week too for sure, but really hoping we can now go 4 for 4 in W's against purple kittie's the next 6 days!
  25. My now 14 year old son and I went up to the Dairy Queen Classic in Minneapolis last year and had a ball watching the Huskers come from behind in the bottom of the 9th to beat New Mexico State 5-4. We decided that with the fewer home games this year, we're going to make some small road trips this year and have been looking forward to going down to Manhattan today for a couple months. We're leaving right from school in Elkhorn and heading down. Has anyone ever driven down there, what's the fastest way, and will we make it by game time of 6:30 (assuming all roads are now in good shape)?
