  1. Well, all of us understand that we crapped the bed on this position last year and at least in part, it's why we now have a new D Line coach. So, I thought I would look at who we have offered so far for this position. SDE Zachary Carter 4* .9595 Tampa, FL WDE Chase Young 4* .9721 Hyattsville, MD WDE Jaelen Phillips 4* .9434 Redlands, CA WDE Taquon Graham 4* .9355 Temple, TX DT Donovan Jeter 4* .9005 Beaverfalls, PA WDE Drew Jordan 3* .8570 Suwanee, GA DT Greg Rogers 4* .9405 Las Vegas, NV WDE Corey Malone-hatcher 4* .9242 St. Joseph, MI SDE Corey Bethley 3* .8730 Katy, TX WDE Michael Allen 3* .8444 Buford, GA SDE Johnathan Burghorst 3* .8363 Zealand, MI AT least these were the top ones on the "Target's" list on 247. Still a little surprised that we only have two DTs on this list. Hopefully, with Parrella coming on board, there will be more offers for that positions. Also, I don't think any of them are in the 500 mile radius. And...no, I'm not concerned.
  2. This is a kid that is going to be interesting to watch the recruitment of. Right now, he isn't rated that high. .8333. It's not bad. But, when you compare him to the other highly rated players we have been offering, you have to assume the coaches see something special here that hasn't been necessarily discovered yet by others. At least that's what I feel when we offer him this early.
  3. I apologize if I am not getting your point. I understand that can be frustrating sometimes on a message board. But, you first said: Then you said: Pardon me if I'm confused because it sure seems like you contradicted yourself.
  4. I agree that I think he could have helped. But I don't think he would have been around this past year. The coaches wanted him to redshirt his first year here but he didn't want to. Unless he somehow had a change of heart, he would have run out of eligibility the same year as Abdullah. He was at TCU an extra year because he could use his "redshirt" year the year he had to sit as a transfer. So, in other words, he didn't want to redshirt here so he transferred which forced him to redshirt a year.
  5. Admittedly, I could be wrong here, but I don't think that Trump is the quite the loose cannon that he appears to be. He's incredibly smart. There is no arguing that point. You don't get to where he is in life by being stupid, and completely unhinged.... I think he's incredibly detailed in his approach during his campaign. The evidence is there, he's playing his supporters like a fiddle, and completely dictating the direction of this race for the Republican nomination.... Having said that, I'd much rather see Kasich, or Carson win the nomination.... He's not that smart. You can get to where he is by inheriting wealth, surrounding yourself with smart people, going through 4 bankruptcies, and most ironic of all; trouncing all over the common folk. Hmmm... that's funny, for it being so easy to accomplish, you'd think that more people would achieve the financial success that he has. Fact is, it's not easy. To get to where he is, a person has to read a library of books and gain a financial literacy that most people can't even fathom. Trump knows more about money than everyone on this board combined, and that's how he's built his empire. Poor people like to dismiss financial success of people like Trump, but the fact is, he got to where he is because of a lot of factors, the least of which being that he inherited lots of money. If the average person inherited the money that he did, they'd simply spend it until it's gone and leave nothing behind. Instead, he used it to build something great to pass on to his kids, all while people who don't understand how he did it and what he had to go through to do it stand on the sideline and throw stones. Ridiculous. More people don't do it because few people get $200 million inheritances and train with their millionaire fathers from birth. The absolute most important factor in becoming that rich is how much money you start out with. This is a statistical fact. People believe in meritocracy at high percentages in America but it's a fallacy. There is an extremely small chance of moving up to a higher SES bracket than the one you were born into. Also, in 2015, 5,000 households and 45,000 people have more than $100 million. This is 2015. Trump's self proclaimed wealth in 1980 was $200 million. There were far, far less people with over $100 million 35 years ago let alone $200 million. We're talking about a very small % if the population who started with what Trump had. The odds were definitely not against him. Edit: found some data. According to the U.S. Bureau of Statistics there were 400 people in 1982 with $100 million or more. So there were less than 400 people in the U.S. with as much or more $ as Trump started with. Less than 400 people had the advantage Trump had. Oh but it's just an unimportant factor. Lol. You put that in a bank in 1982 and you have a lot more money in 2015. Or as has been stated, put it on mutual funds and you have billions. http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/4Inequality.htm I think one needs to separate any of us moving up the income bracket we were born into and reaching the billions of dollars that Trump has. Yes, it is almost statistically non existent that any of us are going to reach the wealth Trump has. However, it is NOT impossible or even extremely difficult if people put that as a goal in life to get an education and start a career. One main reason why people don't move up in income brackets from their parents is because their parents don't instill that desire in the kids. The kids grow up with a certain way of life and they aren't motivated to move on. I know many many MANY people who have grown up with not much but have gone to college or started a business and improved their lot in life from where their parents are. And, I know kids who are doing it right now. Just one example of many is a girl I know who grew up in a single parent home with her father as a farm hand not making much money. She graduated form HS and went to college to get a nursing degree. She is now graduated and is starting a pretty nice nursing career. There are things that could make it easier such as more affordable college (no, I'm not for free college for everyone). But, it's not as affordable as when I was in college and the student debt is a burden. This myth some people have that America is just set up in a manner that only benefits people who are rich and the only way you are going to be successful is if you are rich just needs to stop. It's class warfare at the finest and it doesn't do anyone any good other than the people who gain power by convincing others they can't do anything.
  6. I'll add one more. He went from being a walk-on TE to being one of the best D tackles in the nation. That takes a totally different mind set than someone who comes in as a 4* player and everyone expects they are going to do great things. He had to work his ass off to get noticed and become the player he became. I always believe those kind of guys have a better chance of being a good coach because they know what it is like to have to work extremely hard to be able to do what is expected. Maybe they don't have the God given talent other players have but, he had the work ethic to over come that. Also, he knows kids can be developed like that.
  7. I am far from someone who dismisses financial success. Hey..I'm all for it. However, there are some people in the world that do it in ways that I have no respect for. Trump has gained a ton of money building a some huge project, getting a ton of press for it, once it's done he takes bankruptcy and screws the smaller contractors and he has it all fixed so he still keeps the property and smiles all the way to the bank. Sure, he is very smart in how he does it. But...... Sorry, I'm not impressed.
  8. You are very right. We will need to get these guys based on what we know now. However, the peer recruiting they want to do will be much easier if we have a good year.
  9. I don't see anyone disagreeing with that. Fact is, KJJ is believed to be the first of a group to commit that could be an extremely good corp to build the class around. That group includes McQuitty, Holmes, Gebbia Those 4 have said they want to commit early and peer recruit. We have had players do that before. However, this group hold a little more cred than a lot of other players. Will it all work out that way? Who the heck knows. But, it's going to be fun watching to see if it does. And...yes....a good season next year will go a long ways to making it happen.
  10. I am thinking about getting into fly fishing. Does anyone have experience with this. And, if so, have you purchased this combo before? Thoughts on if it's a good buy for someone just getting into it? LINK
  11. You're so predictable that Riley could have gone and hired anyone and you would have said the same thing.
  12. Oh Great, a coach who still needs to learn how the DL is supposed to play.............. I hope you missed putting in the sarcasm emoji.
  13. With all the talk about how deep the D line is in this draft, I hate to say it but it doesn't bode well for VV. I hope he can go to the combine and do something absolutely amazing to turn that around.
  14. Good. They needed a new one 20 years ago.
  15. I'm not too familiar with him. Big question is, can he recruit? I have no idea if he is good. But, I'll put my money on that he is better than who he is replacing.
  16. I wonder if they realize how bad Ogallala's gym is. I know they are supposed to be building a knew one. But, I thought that wasn't supposed to be done till late summer/early fall.
  17. So...if it is him against Hillary, I wonder if Hillary will remind him in debates that he has said before that she would be a great President?
  18. Absolutely....Riley didn't even look at anyone else. He knew who he wanted and went out and got him.
  19. I always find it funny when this happens so soon. Wiki already claims he was hired on February 22nd 2016 as Nebraska' D line coach. So...it must be a done deal.
  20. I wonder if Trump and the Clintons are still good friends.
  21. I hope you realize that he exposes peoples' lies like no one else. In turn, that leaves him susceptible to a counter-attack from other candidates, and the only response anyone can seem to muster against Trump is "He's so rude!" Gimme a break. Ummm....no. You obviously haven't paid attention then. He is a hot head that will say whatever he thinks the crowd standing in front of him wants to hear. Heck, he has changed his stance on issues since he even started campaigning in THIS election. I'm sure that's dependent on who he is talking to. He has not put out any detailed plan to do anything other than build a wall and make Mexico pay for it and don't let China screw us. Wow....that's some great in depth plan there. The guy is an empty suit with a loud mouth. And, no, that is not saying I don't like him "because he is rude". He simply never says anything. I have listened to some of his speeches and all they are is..."Hey....I'm so great. I'm the greatest in all the world....We are going to win...bla bla bla..." Sorry if that doesn't impress me at all. It might get your heart pumping faster but it is empty and has absolutely no substance.
